I am not so sure. Think I wouldn't agree...Glam Rock might play with the absurd, but one also has to see its originas in its cultural and social contexts. Often members of the "real" glam rock bands were playing with the themes androgyny, sex (bi-,homosexuality etc.) and the fun of music. But I don't think that they weren't artists. Most of them were/are great musicians. The combination of all the features made/makes it fascinating. Particularly at a time when these issues were still tabooed.
