I understand some of his pain. My father is Panamanian and my mother is African-American, however both my parents look like African- Americans. Certain family on my father's side would call me a Yankee. My father never taught me Spanish. It did hurt. But my father's mother, mi abuela was such a powerful positive force in my life. She truly embraced all of me, and was my greatest cheerleader, and champion in both my spiritual life and my musical career. I miss her so much!
