Man, Ian was my dad's idol in the 70s, that's how i learned about rock music - listnening to Deep Purple when i was 3, and in 2011 i still enjoy it VERY MUCH!!!

@dockaiser It was either as a back up in case one went off often feeding two separate amps . A common practice in those days. You'd be surprised how minimal the equipment was in those days. The emphasis was on BIG SPEAKERS and as many as you could get on the stage. Once a sound engineer with a mixer became the thing there was little excuse for a bad mix.
