Guys, just for the record, Tito Puente was Puertorican, but he mostly played Cuban music such as this one which was composed by Cachao a famous Cuban musician which recently passed away and was also the creator of the rythim called Mambo. In my opinion Tito was the best timbalero in the world!!!. RIP Tito

Dijo Mr. Tito Puente en el Heineken Jazz Fest de Puerto Rico que una vez alguien le pidió que tocara el número Oye como va de Santana, a lo que el respondió; seguro que sí. A renglón seguido lo interpretó y luego explicó que era un tema de el y no de Santana pero tambien dijo que era el único artista que relijiosamente le pagaba las regalias por interpretar ese número. Muy bien. Yo como fanático de ambos me gustan sus interpretaciones en sus estilos, anyway!!!!!!!!!!!

That is why he will always be known as EL-REY DE MAMBO. When Santana made his record of OYE COMO VA Tito was pissed because Sanatana never gave TITO the recognition he deserved.TITO wrote OYE, and was playing it for years before SANATANA made the recording
