  • Looks like 9 seconds to me But you are loosing time with the tires slipping so your car doesnt accelerate at all perhaps over 1 or 2 seconds. Normally the stock 120 hp car is doing the 0-60 dash in 8 seconds or 7,8seconds if you have 140 horses that will be 7 seconds or so

  • got to love the R5 turbo. Like the way the temp needle starts at 1/4 and ends up on the 3/4 mark after 20 secs

  • I start my driving with a R5 GTS with 68PS and no problems.I make 250000KM with

    this smal engine but the engine was selling because only the chassi was broken-

    I think i could make 300000km with it.Then i buy a R5 GTE LeMans.This is a really sportcar.No turbo but i have injection and a engine with1,8litres.If i drive on the highway i can drive constantly 200 with this car and a friend had a R5 GT turbo.He

    couldnt because the temparature goes so hot that he had to make a stop!And i need normalgas

  • @Ulicar75 Yeah youre right, temperature is an issue on r5 gtt. However, installing an intercooler would greatly decrease overheating. GTE is a nice car too. :)

    trust me, theres nothing slow about a R5 GT... Its 20+ yrs old, and still with a bit of tuning and this n that, it holds its own! Todays cars yeah faster, but no way near as more fun!!! Well I guess the Clio and Megane r pretty fucking sweet lol.. Had all of them and loved them..

  • an air intake will get you 5bhp if your lucky, combined with a de-cat as it frees up more power you could get about 20 combined

  • I am a big R5 GTT fanatic for years and own a very nice one.

    No way, that that tune up the air intake gives u an extra 20 bhp!!!

    About the the pressure...The first line wich is positioned right of the " o" from turbo is exactly 0.9 bar.

    A normal Garrett T2 turbo wich is on this car would last long at pressures above 1.1 bar...

    The needle pushes through 1.4 bar wich you can't reach with a normal T2.

    Conclusion? The meter is broken!!!

  • @zwaffelaar013 Thx for the info. I say 20hp approximately because i didnt measure it. Just for info, it was air intake with K&N filter so i rounded it up to 20. As for the needle , hmm well it might have been broken, but u can hear the turbo in the background and needle responds to it. Maybe because that turbo has been fixed couple of times , so something about that gage was messed up. Still, broken or not, turbocharger was kicking some wil ass, and i dont care so much about that gage :)

  • @zwaffelaar013 i agree i have a t25 on mine pushing 25 psi with a motec oil cooler cotton green induction and front mounted cooler its about 160bhp in the wet spins in third so not so sure about this

  • @zwaffelaar013 I was wondering about the boost needle too... Should have been one of a kind garrett t2 to keep that boost. Car would have been a lot quicker too if that was correct. Still nice ride, cheers. I have a T25 on mine now, pulls like a train :)

  • Thanks man.. I really dont know how much PSI was it pulling of, turbo inside is an air cooled Garret T2 Turbo, so u can google that a little bit. peace

  • I removed the thermostat on my gtt (phase III) and the high temperature was still a concern.

    What a nice car, I sold it 10 years ago but i still love it.

  • yeah, puting biger intercooler could drasticaly decrease temp of air circleing the engine, but every now and then something goes wrong. thats the price of having an old sports car.

  • it's because the cooling in the r5 is very bad.... i had this problem too..... buy a new thermostat which opens a few degrees earlier.... if you stil have this problem buy a new radiator grill. the original don't lash enough air through... a new termostat cost about 15 euro, a new engine a few thousand

  • @ohgottweristdas the coolin system is fine and is perfect.if it leaks then it is prob because its leakin form the side of the rad prob between the oil cooler and the rad.dont worry i konw they are not bad coolin systems i went to nurburgring and back even did a lap on the track with rtoc :)

  • You know where is the temp indicator at least? Probably you are making confusion with the oil pressure indicator.

  • biggest change they made to the phase 2 was the engine cooling system. They would boil there tits off because the radiator was to small , also the air dryer over the carbs to stop petrol evaporating hence the starting problems.... i so miss my 5 turbo was fast as fook even after the engine rebuild and highly modified exhaust, hybrid turbo, hoses, boost valves , fuel pumps and forced air induction. sadly she died after spending thousands on the engine , rust was her final killer .... gutted

  • sry to hear that about your car.. Even though they made changes to cooling, my gtt would overheat so easily, especialy on a hot summer day...you can see the temperature needle on my video going up in notime.

  • is the fase 2 the quicker 1? and is 14o hp standard for the fase 2 or has this bin modified?

  • the phase 2 was upgraded in reliability because the phase 1 had alot of reliability problems, so the phase 2 has better head gaskets ect ect, not much difference in performance really but they still didnt get it perfect and yes 140bhp is standard for a phase 2.

  • has nothing to do with head gasket, ph1 have 115bhp and ph2 120hp standard, the diference are wheels, front bumper, grill, carpet (gray in ph1 and red in ph2) rear arches, engine has the same turbo but ph2 is water cooled ph1 was air cooled, ignition module is also diferent

    They are the real old school pocket rocket, they dont do cars like that any more :( i miss my 5 turbo ph2 :'( i sold mine, all the 5 owners out there.. dont make the same mistake i did

  • I have a GT turbo and a stock phase 2 GTT has 120 hp. Still i tried it too many times agaisnt the mk2 uno turbo i.e. and i always win on accelaration. The uno has a bit more top speed but when you go into the corners the uno lacks a good chassis and stays behind.

  • i know bro... gtt is sick in curves, acceleration rocks and hardly anyone can beat this car if gtt is driven by a good driver.. sadly i fucking crashed mine a month ago this is all its left of him... not my fault though

  • If your Phase 2 GTT was stock, it would be running 9-10 psi giving you aroung 120 hp, which it clearly isnt. You would still eat an Uno turbo though.
