Yes, I realize that the show makes Spirit Bomb the most powerful. It's a CARTOON though, and the Spirit Bomb isn't actually real. Give me one valid reason why Vegeta couldn't have just one kill? Either Cell, or Buu, or whatever, it's always Goku. And that's where my issue is.

Vegeta's redemption is one of the longest journeys any of the characters take. His arc takes place over a dozen or more sagas until he finally becomes a hero. It works because it wasn't sudden or forced for convenience, Vegeta goes through a lot and his character changes as a result. It's why I always thought he was the best and most realistic character in Dragon Ball Z.

What they should've done is kept Vegeta evil a bit longer (imagine the Z Fighters having the adversity of both Buu and Vegeta?) And then done this sacrifice later to defeat Super Buu or Kid Buu to the end. As the studio likes making bullshit up as they go along (oh, we'll just have another old man unlock Gohan's potential), they could've easily made Vegeta absorb Goku's spirit bomb (like Goku did in Super Android 13,) while Goku was weakening, and done this self-destruction, unexpectedly.

Goku killed Frieza... then it was time for Gohan's character development of facing his fears and unleashing his potential, and he defeated Cell.

Vegeta basically turned his own world around entirely alone, while at the peak of his inner darkness, and, knowing that he will die, still embraced the love for his family and admiration of Goku ('and yes, even for you Kakarot) with a smile (and a badass scream.) He deserved this a million times more than Goku.

I liked how the series the turned out after this but come'on we couldn't give Vegeta this one? Vegeta needs to be the hero at least once. The time against Cell when he had an outburst, that should of made him a SS2 and he should of kill Cell but he became a sidekick. This time around he did this and failed, and against Kid Buu he was again the sidekick. Vegeta's intentions were true and he should of been able to destroy Buu.

@DEIMOSLOL Majin Buu regenerates, so when Vegeta sacraficed himself, Buu regenerated from the tiniest specks of him left. Goku's Spirit Bomb destroys everything pure evil, which is what Kid Buu was, so he was able to get rid of him permanently.
