I think this is the best song the Allman Brothers ever did. Those chord progressions are fabulous. The "split screen" thing would be great if you ever did it again, but I hear all those chords anyway as if they were implied. Another winner for you, sir! ...... ;>)

This one guitar acoustic version is great but I do have to kinda wish you had done the "split screen thing" and added some nice acoustic lead guitar licks like I've seen Dickie Betts do while Gregg Allman was playing the rhythm and singing. Maybe a second version of this song is in order. If you did do the song both ways I am sure they would both be great as this one is. As always Thanks!
@TheDparham Yep, part of what makes "Melissa" so moving is that it is a duet with the singer and the lead guitar. Without that lead guitar it's just another mildly pretty song. The chord progression is essential, too, and apparently it's impossible for one player to simulate both guitars on this song. Solo versions are inevitably dissapointing.
All that said, great job here; this is the best solo version of "Melissa" I've heard.
No one else puts their total soul into the music the way you do Larry, and then you share the depths of your heart with the world through your playing and singing. I hope the boys who used to play here as "The Allman Joys" see this one.
