Lou Reed wherever you are i just want you to know that you are a genius and a perfect human being. what a performance oh my god the tears right now...
This is great. Ive always loved this amazing song.
Just keep thinking, If only he could sing a note... how did he get by with this style of delivery for so long... it is not all about charisma style etc, a singer, a front man, is also supposed to be able to sing a little bit arent they?
@mrseangeraghtyesq Actually he used to be a decent singer in the 60's and early 70's. Never a good one in a professional sense. But it isn't important because he is able to deliver. Just listen to Pavarotti singing Perfect day! Pretty awful despite the great voice. It has nothing to do with singing "properly".
I love the way Lou constantly re-invents and re-interprets his own back catalogue: so many great songs, and so many great versions of them... this was my favourite album of his when I was a kid, and it still is.
as with many forms of 'art', Berlin was panned upon it's release. that often happens when one is ahead of his or her 'time'. It's still such a moving collection of songs.
It sure sounds like it. I think this version is in some ways better than the original. He sounds like he's sad in this one, as opposed to reporting coldly on a sad topic in the original.
