I kid, but seriously, I've not met many people that are seriously into MC that haven't done a mining project of this scale. My last one involved a 35x35 mineshaft to the bottom, followed by combing for diamonds in corridors, 1x50, repeat around 50 or 60 times. One of these operations and your stocks for coal, iron and hopefully diamond will last the best part of forever :)
Yeah i spent like 2 months messing around build a castle and flattening the surrounding landscape only to get bored with nothing to do with it, and deleted it lol.
Wow, that's massive. Hey, as long as you enjoyed doing it, your time was not wasted. :)

It's for sending chest-minecarts up by themselves. Carts without a person in them apparently do need that many <_<
