Possible a faulty mechatronics unit, price to replace anything from £1500 to £2000, a VAGCOM will confirm it's a faulty mechatronics unit. currently got the same problem with my 3.2 V6 TT, luckily it's under warranty and being dealt with by the most excellent Awesome GTI of Manchester!

As I see the problem relates to the tachometer malfunction.I don't know why the engine turns up its turnovers and then quickly "fall down",
