I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Benz Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and EFi injectors clean as new!

@Machiave11i i have removed those big ugly bumpers from mine and smoothed the bodywork and it looks much prettier,not a difficult job at all,the weight saved with all the rubber pieces to the bumpers was 71lbs....thats alot of un-needed weight gone
True True, You have to hear the flowmaster exhaust i put on. i swear you would think that its a ferrari. lol
but anyways where i live in ny. the traffic is stop and go, and a radio is def. necessary especially if your listening to classic italian music like it do.
Nice X1/9, but why fit a radio? The sound of the induction at a low rpm while driving is part of the X 1/9 expierience. I sold mine... the most stupid thing I have ever done... still looking for another.
Nice X19, hope the rest of the work goes well. My friend has one with 270,000 miles, and still runs nice. These are great cars. :)

@djpatd o, how much did it cost you?

I love the X 1/9 but I hate the awful bumpers that had to be tacked on. If you remove them does it leave gaping holes?

Yeah, Unfortunately

Very nice paint. Why does it have FIAT badges? 81 and up had BERTONE ones
gelbrosj3 2 years ago
@gelbrosj3
Because the design was taken over by Bertone when he went solo.

@gelbrosj3 Excellent question. Bertone badges started in 1983. Perhaps the owner has not obtained them yet. Long live the X!
