this guy has a million spiders!!!! lol omfg awsome bro iv always wanted one maybe once my bro moves out i can get one =p what would you reccomend? i dont want it to bite (the least amount possible) i dont want to have to have a heating lamp (i had a snake and it needed one) i dont want it to be a puny lil thing i want a actual turantula so what do you recomend obviously you know alot about spiders =p
You have to keep in mind, the larger the spider is for sale, the more expensive it is.
Unfortunately, you cannot have a spider that will not bite because all of them can even the most friendly. I would recommend getting an adult pinktoe or good sized curly hair or mexican redknee
Rob C would be hurting bad for money if he had to buy his cages at Canadian prices. I wondered why you had so many critter keepers lol. there 20 bucks were I live
Brachys are my favorate genus..... there not boring. I got 4 brachy slings. and 3 other Brachys. gotta luv em =) FIrelegs a bad begginer T Fyi.. kicks hairs a lot
i'd recommend you Acanthoscurria geniculata, it's not as boring as Brachypelma spiders. Whats moree... that spider eats a lot! You won't probably have any problems with feeding it. It's venom is only a bit more dangerous to people than the venom of Brachypelma spiders.
Some of the video;s you spoke about not handling some more then others, but how to the clean the cages or do you typically dont or to you just spot clean?
do you have an artificial burrow for your cobalt blue? It would allow you to see him/her much more often, but, i'm not sure if it would ignore it and make their own, deending what kind of burrower thery are
that is cool, yea, i didnt think they actually dug into it...and as for swifts inverts, is it reliable? also, would you recommend buying a larger or smaller tarantula?
I haven't bought any tarantulas from there partly because I need a fish and wildlife permit to deal with US dealers being from Canada, but I've heard they were a good dealer. It depends on how much money you want to spend. Larger tarantulas are more expensive than smaller ones. If they're really slow growing species like the Aphonopelmas, or G.rosea, or C.crawshayi, I recommend getting a larger one, for the fast growing species, I'd go for smaller. Is there a specific one you're getting?
Ya, you have to be careful tho. Some Grammostolas have mood swings. It's in their personality, they have their good and bad days. Like I wanted to hold my large chaco for a video, and she decided to strike with no warning..guess it was her off day
yea, i think i'll do what you say in a lot of you vids and test it with a paint brush...i probably wont be picking it up unless its encloure needs cleaning
thanks you have been a big help over the past week or so, funny tho...i totaled the amount it would cost to house, feed, and buy a chaco goldenknee and it came out to $105.41, not including heatlamps and humidifiers still need to find price of those
hey man im gonna keep my next 8 Ts im getting in Kritter keepers,do u buy the small, medium or large KKs? some sizes of my ts are getting is 2" 3",5" so what would u recommend?
Jon do you have any experience keeping tarantulas in plastic shoe box enclosures?
I'm asking because this is the setup I'm planning on going for my first tarantula, but I read an article that mention that these type of setups stresses the tarantula since it can make it feel that its in a permanent burrow unable to get out.
Wow 10 gallin where i live is only 10 bucks

@nznc50
most do some don't. Quebec is part of Canada, so it's also a bilingual province. There's about 60% french, 40% english

Whoa, 20 buck is the cost of a 10 gallon tank at a retail store, in america. Does Canada always have such high prices? It just sounds maddening.

heat lamps are not needed for a tarantula nor would be recommended. Most tarantulas will survive well slightly above room temperature (75-80F)

I wouldn't call Brachypelmas boring man.
Jon3800 2 years ago
well I made a video called Choosing a good beginner T.
Go for eupalaestrus campestratus or Brachypelma albopilosum
Jon3800 2 years ago
Reply could you make a vid on avicularia versicolor on care and housing for it.
ehdie1 2 years ago
please check the video called Arboreal Tarantula Recommendation. I've made it yesterday
Jon3800 2 years ago
keep in mind, the larger the T, the more expensive they are. And you're better off getting females, last much longer than males
Jon3800 2 years ago
it depends what they sell. They sell slings, juvies, sub-adults and adults
Jon3800 2 years ago
I probably put her in there when she's an adult, its kind of big and causes more stress as a sling
Jon3800 2 years ago
B.smithis can be kept around 75% humidity. Easy mist once a week, and provide a full water dish

next time you get a T you should make a video of it burrowing... ive always wndered how they do it
triggerman73 3 years ago
ya, it's a shame really. I had like 490 videos before I got hacked, and to boot, I had a great video of my M.Robustum burrowing :(
Anyhoo, what they essentially do is to make a ball of dirt, pick it up with their chelicerae and move it on the otherside
Jon3800 3 years ago
that is cool, yea, i didnt think they actually dug into it...and as for swifts inverts, is it reliable? also, would you recommend buying a larger or smaller tarantula?

yea, i was thinking of getting a chaco goldenknee, they seem very docile and easy to take care of

Good man. Tarantulas are pretty unpredicatble, even the most docile can act very cranky
Jon3800 3 years ago
haha i like the feeding vids, they show the unpredictability of the T, sometimes i cant tell whether its flailing or trapping the cricket haha
triggerman73 3 years ago
ya, they're awesome

hey i found some Exo-Terra Plantation Soil Tropical Terrarium Substrate on petco's website, is this a good substrate?
triggerman73 3 years ago
as long as if the substrate can support a burrow, should be fine

only ones I can buy are the medium size ones which are excellent for 5 inch Ts. For 2 inch, I'd go smaller
Jon3800 3 years ago
I'm fine with pet holes haha
Thanks, Jon!

I never kept them in shoe boxes. I don't really like to use those anyway since I like watching from plastic/glass. I'd stick to using kritter keepers
