  • O Reginaldo inventa demais... Senna na Brabham por causa do Piquet???? O que o Nelson mais queria era ver o Ayrton pelas costas...

  • At the beginning of the video miss lotus

  • That sound at 5:04 to about 5:14 is the sound of, 'Fast',.. and no other F1 driver would ever be able to do that since Senna.

  • my inspiration

  • to drive THE best car with a subordinate team mate for 5-6 years with 95% reliability he would have won 95% of the time. Schumacher is proving how average a driver he really is today. Results are not the thing I look at. It's raw one lap speed......and he isn't even on Nico's pace who wasn't a hair on his dads arse. People who love F1 should watch races from the 80's. When I argue about Schumacher, to me he isn't even on the same page as Mansell, Prost, Lauda, Rosberg, let alone Ayrton.

  • @michael88863

give Schumacher a break. I am by no means his biggest fan, i am part of the group that thinks he cheated his way through the '94 season, but he is 43, and he has to deal with the Mercedes GP car, which isnt exactly the best. What you said about Rosberg, yes, he is not as quick, but if you watch races like SIngapore this year, you see he still has some poke in his driving.

  • Remember this Schumacher fanboys................Senna won 41 GP from 160 odd starts. In an era when less than half the field had mechanical failures each race. Running out of fuel was a huge issue. How many times did Schumacher retire with mechanical failures 00-05? Michael was also lucky F1 was basically 3 sprint races. Not only Senna, but Prost and Mansell etc lost many races when in dominant positions due to mechanical failures. Trust me guys, if Senna had the fortune to drive

  • did you hear the arrogance of Frank ?

  • Ayrton Senna from Brazil!!!!

    Brasil eu te amo!

  • Isnt that Rory Byrne in the background at the end of the Toleman test when Senna is talking?

  • Great vid,but will ppl stop jumping on the band wagon saying that senna was the best ever,he was not,you cannot compare drivers of different eras,eg: jackie stewart won 3 world titles in 99 races, senna won 3(which of 1 he cheated, ramming prost off) with 161 races,so who is the best, you just cannot compare,he was probably the best of his era,but definitely not the best ever.I know i will get haters for my opinion, but thats what it is,my opinion.

  • How ironic and sad

  • The one and only MAGIC

  • Do you remember how terrible was the start of the careers -- even in big teams such as Renault -- of some who were later consider masters?

I am dubious about Senna the man. I think he was a good person, even if not a forgiving person, and I wonder about his belief system. But in my judgement he was head and shoulders above everyone else I saw racing since I stated following F-1 in the seventies. Of course the legend began even before he had his first oportunity to dirve an F-1 car.

  • this is not rare footage, it was taken from a dvd which had been published world wide

  • One comment. In 1:48 the audio say 1 minute and 5 tenth (1:00:5) but in both subtitles appears 1:00:05... (5 hundredths)...

It was wrong in the first version and no one changed it... If it is possible that you can change it will be good, because both Portuguese (the audio) and Greek (the white subtitles) are not common languages. :-)

  • in those days a team owner would give a young driver to chance to go around in an F1 car just to feel it and make an impresion :) 3:15

now its just about sponsors and contracts and stupid rules!

and Senna's first F1 drive in a Williams, and last one in an williams !

  • I really enjoyed watching this.

    Thanks,

  • In my humble opinion, Senna starting his career with Williams or a McLaren would have won 8 or more championships in Formula 1!

  • Its quite interesting see him driving for mclaren in 1983; little(?) did he know....

  • As has been said before, it's unusual seeing Frank Williams walking around but it's even more unusual hearing how he used to speak before the accident.

  • Oh... Only 1 Second Faster Than They Any Team Driver Achieved At Donnington...On His First Day In An F3 Car... Wait... WHAT THE FWCK!!!!!!!!

  • Frank Williams walking. : /

  • interviews were conducted for Globo TV, Brazil, first to the reporter Reginaldo Leme and then the reporter Luis Fernando Silva Pinto

  • Strange seeing Frank Williams walk around with his own legs...

  • I ' ve already seen this video , but ........many thanks to Mc Laren website for the advice to take a look to Ayrton's first tests..........Best ever ....first test.

  • Both Senna and Shumi did push the limits of acceptability at times. They both wanted to win a little too much at times. Alonso shares the same desire, only difference is that at least he has never gone over the top.

  • @2333321983 That's why he's not ' a racing driver'

  • @BoogWar01 Two titles and 26 victories with more to come in both departments... Just cause he isn't a win at all costs cheating snake doesn't mean he is not a racing driver...

  • @2333321983 Here, watch this and tell me what u think..

    watch?v=ko94oniszuA

While Alonso is talented, He is a parade driver. The fact that he let a rookie deny him a third championship last year brings that talent into disrepute. What good is speed if you can't use it on the track? He couldn't even get by his own team mate, who is an equal talent.. Look at what Hamilton did to him in '07. I rate Kobayashi over Alonso any day and twice on Sunday

  • @BoogWar01 Life must be fun in gaga land i will give you that. Well have you ever heard of horrendous track design courtesy of Herman Tilke? Ferrari got the strategy wrong no doubt. Massa was a little slower that race, Ferrari made the right decision because Massa had no realistic chance of fighting for the title. Hamilton and Alonso finished equal on point with four victories a piece in 07. Thats like saying you rate Justin Wilson over Shumacher, funny and wrong lol.

  • @2333321983 Two men, same car. ONE IS A ROOKIE, the other is a two time world champ. Hamilton overtakes. ALONSO DOES NOT. "Use your talent, we know how big it is...." FAIL. Mclaren had the same scenario earlier that year, in Turkey. Hamilton passed his teammate after being set up by his own team. If Schumacher starts to win this season, I'll still say that he has great developmental skills, but as a driver he ain't otherworldly. He's always had the best car.

  • @2333321983

There is no difference, his teammate is not alowed to win,the same as senna and shumi...FACT. Alonso is no where near the driver people think he is.

  • Frank Williams realised his mistake of not having Ayrton quite late.

  • to the idiots biggin schuSLACKER, cheat, then cheat + cheat, + run people of the road, well damon hill smashed him after that to show the nob he wasnt the only one, then the i couldnt turn monaco corner, we have heard it all, to senna: the greatest racing driver of his time, amazing, fluent oh and did he run people off road or making excuses for terrible driving? EH NO HE DIDNT. i think you schuslacker idiots should take some pictures of him and spank your monkeys! lol its all your good for!

  • actualy senna did ram people off the track, there was an incident at suzuka on the first lap at turn one he took out another driver

  • Um aviso as Viúvas histéricas, quem vetou Senna na Brabham foi a PARMALAT.

A empresa queria um italiano como companheiro do Piquet

  • Made in BRASIL!!!!!!!

  • @SeanVaIen @SeanVaIen Schumacher was great, yeah, always cheating, but still... Did Schumacher win anything without the best car? The best team? Did he raced against any great driver? Did the only one who could challenge Schumacher (Ferrari's driver number 2) dared to do so? Yeah, Schumacher was great, but with 7 titles he's nothing compared to Senna, with "only" 3.

  • @GTOHOO

    LOL

You must be drunk from semen to say something that stupid.

Schumachers small toe is worth more than Senna ever was, both as a driver and also as a person.

    Worship Schumacher, you fool

  • @SeanVaIen It's funny how all you can do is call me a fool. Prove that Schumacher was all that. It is proved that he cheated, that he had no challegers while he drove... So, can you convince someone about something or all you can say is "you're a fool. I win" How old are you? 5 or 6?

  • @SeanVaIen you do know schumacher was cheating in 94 right?

  • @roywhiteo5

    No, he wasnt.

  • @SeanVaIen yes he was

  • @SeanVaIen overdrove? I think I watched a show that analyzed it and something broke in the car. Wasn't driver error

  • @SeanVaIen Schumy the cheater

  • the 2 a-holes who disslike have no idea what it ment for a F1 fan to watch a race back then, F1 today is nothing compared to back then :(

  • We would propably be looking at a 6 times F1 Champion if Ayrton had of signed for Mclaren in this video, afterall Mclaren would win the Drivers titles in 84,85,&86!!Only problems were that Lauda(84 Champ) was already signed up & Prost(85&86 Champ) would join at the end of 83!!

  • Oh my God, with the helmet on... Bruno looks just like him...

  • Que saudade !!! The most respected Brazilian idol ever. Fica com Deus senna.

  • he was born ready and died racing

  • Frank Williams came close to signing Senna for 1984, but at the time Senna was just another one of those "promising new drivers", of which many came to nothing despite dominating in the lower formulas.

So Williams missed the chance to sign Senna for 1984, but they finally got him in 1994. Sadly his time as a Williams ace was cut short.

  • If Senna had signed with Williams or McLaren straight away, God knows how good he would've been.

  • sorry i accidently disliked this video. it really is awesome!! such a great driver, if he was in a top team in 1984, he certainly would have been a title contender.

  • Wow did i read right he decides whitch team he goes to not the team chooses him? I mean now a days if you get an offer from F1 team you emedeatley join them no mater what kind of team it is :P

  • lol the other subtitles are greek!!!!!!!!where can i find this movie????ellinas eimai file!

  • I do really miss him but I'm still proud of saying : I'M BRAZILIAN!!!!!!!!

  • Frank is a stubborn old git (which I admire greatly)

  • ironic how he has his first drive in an f1 williams and also finishes in one :(

  • show his raw talent, lets not forget Rosberg and Lauda were the current drivers of their respective team ^^ and Senna a rookie was faster!!! Franks and Ron's words!!!

  • The Master at work!

  • The brazilian Ayrton Senna: the best F1 driver of all the times. He is a hero.

  • Can you imagine if Senna had started his career with either Williams or McLaren?

  • @flatonia

Brabham were VERY keen on signing Senna at once for the 1984 season, but Nelson Piquet "veto-ed" it.

Later he still had to deal with the fact that Senna became more popular in Brazil than Piquet ever was.

  • @flatonia I have a feeling his career wouldn't be as fruitful. I believe that drivers that start in cars that aren't GP winning cars out of the box develop a better work ethic. They try harder than drivers who start out in the top teams.

  • @flatonia Can you imagine if the steering wheel hadn't come off at Tamburello at 94 imola GP?

  • @flatonia he might have taken prost and lauda's championships had he started at mclaren in 84, 85.

  • @flatonia At least 10 times world champion!

  • @fickendermann Ah, not sure about that. Senna was great, a monster, e freak of nature. But not the only. Personally, I consider Prost and Schumacher better than he. And Piquet was in his prime. If he had started his career in Willians, for example, for me it would be similar to Lotus: a good car, a huge opponent (Rosberg), but no chance to win the championship.

  • @PedroLynott I am not sure Prost and Schumacher were better than him, really not sure! they had better cars and when Senna had the best car he showed he was the best...in 1989 Prost won the championship politically against him! and Schumacher has been the first driver to show how thin the border between a great car and a great driver is. Ferrari's supremacy throughout the first 5 seasons of the 2000s was embarassing!Hakkinen would have won the same, if he had been Ferrari's driver then!

  • To be so confident both in and out of the car at your 1st F1 tests says it all. Most drivers are begging for an F1 seat but not Senna. He just knew how good he was and how he could beat anyone. Great guy and sadly missed forever..

  • Every body knows the huge difference between a genius and a good skill driver. And of course is difficult establish who was the greatest. For example Senna was the only driver that achieve this performance in his first test in F1. Fangio, Clark, Rindt and Senna was the only pilots that beat their pole times in one race. The same list + Villenueve wins with inferior car. All of them until today has records. All wins epic races in rain with inferior cars. Still Success driver? Schumacher...

  • The best "brazilian human bean" for ever. Great person! I miss my Sundays mornings with you Ayrton. Since 1994, never more was the same. Love.

  • Probably the best of all time.

  • ayrton el mejor piloto no solo por su capacidad sino por su carisma y mas que nada como persona

    un grande!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What is astounding (or perhaps not so) is his absolute consumate belief in himself as he talks on camera. He knew he was special and clocking that time in the Toleman must've been amazing. Too bad Williams and McLaren didn't "invest" in young talent back then... Great video :-)

  • Thanks for this video. I could read the translation just fine. I also speak Portuguese fluently. Muito obrigado. I don't understand who sent me this, but am happy to get it!!! BRUNI

  • Compared to Ron Dennis, Frank Williams looks pretty cavalier running Senna as though it was he who was doing Senna a favour letting him drive the Williams. F1 now realises, like Lewis Hamilton at MClaren, brave young talent is the future.

  • There is no best driver ever. Formula 1 changes and so the characteristics needed for a driver to be the best one for a period of time are changing to.

In my opinion Ayrton Senna in fact was the best driver in Formula 1 for more than 10 years.

  • Iam not sure you have the credentials to analyse the best driver in F1 yourself but in the F1 paddock, still today, there is common opinion amongst team owners and directors that Senna was probably the best driver to grace F1. How Frank Williams must have then regretted his own policy of not hiring young talent and missing the best years of Senna's life.

  • We do not really disagree. But, what means "best driver" at all? The driver with the best car control, the quickest driver, the most successfull driver or maybe the most complete driver? I dont think there is one driver owning all of these attributes forever. In my opinion the driver with the best car control in formula one (so far) was Gilles Villeneuve, the fastest was Ayrton Senna and the most successfull was MS.

  • I do appreciate your comments. I think "best" and "greatest" as you say are open to suggestion but I do believe Senna was surrounded by far greater opponents and talent at a time in F1 when there were also less driver aids and car control was more reliant on pure ability. I only saw Villeneuve a few times in his tragically short career and he was clearly brave and a real racer inside a car you could allow to slide. In the paddock MS and other world champions themselves still give AS their vote.

  • ironic too, when he finally joined williams...... =(

  • BEST DRIVER EVER !

  • one of the best drivers in history. a true legend in F1.

  • great! never knew he tested a mclaren back then. and look at ron dennis' hair!

  • Just imagine how Williams would have fared is he had hired Ayrton. In 1986 and 1987 Senna would have been at least dubble DWC...

No matter how odd I often find Frank Williams' driver choice, I'm not in a position to criticise. He proves himself right every time. FW is a Phoenix. Coming back after losing TAG, Honda, Renault and BMW. He's doing it again woth Toyota and Rosberg now.

  • The Best.....................Always. . .

  • Ayrton Senna, no doubt was a genius. I know this video from his Institute. In Donnington he beat the circuit record in his first time. It was a HUGE mistake for Frank Williams not hire him, just think in the new one, Lewis Hamilton. And of course a big one from McLaren too. Finaly he said a great true: The F1 is more in car than the driver.

  • the Mclaren was very easy to drive he said. wonder what he would say if he tested an F1 nowadays

  • Hey Reloko, lotta thanks for the subs from me too!:)

  • This is amazing, check Senna's slides! The average Joe'd be off the course.

It's weird looking back and thinking that he too had a first day in an F1 car!

    Bravo!

  • He was THE BEST !!!!!!!! R.I.P.

  • Fantastic! And thank you!

  • One of the best videos i've seen on here, thanks for posting!

  • the same williams car killed him 11 years after these days... (btw the subs are greek)

  • nah, not really. the williams car was a tad unsafer in 1994 than in 86, and real different color schemes were attached.

  • This is a 6 star video!

  • 7 stars!!!

  • Great !

  • thanks a lot mate :D Now I an understand what the god of F1 is saying :D Even at the start of his F1 career, he was great on the track. he's a person that I admire, like a role model :D
