Not the slightest big melodic, and John makes no apologies for it. We all love John for his caring, his writing, and his antics, but only some of us admit that he is not much of a singer and never was. But when singing, he was always best at the soft stuff that requires feelings much not much in vocal range or tone -- like Imagine or Julia. So, this number is fun, but musically -- well, it's filler. For jamin', I think John did better with The Two Of Us.
@alphakid42 I must respectfully disagree. Listen to Girl or Norwegian Wood off f Rubber Soul. Lennon was able to convey painful emotion in his vocals without being sappy or corny. He did that better than any other singer ever IMHO.
I'm thankful he didn't. He and Paul would of had a different attitude about the song and produce a different feel. I also prefer the Get Back we have (being its my favorite song) heavily over this one, even though this has a more joyous attitude about it.
@derekxnl, yes it is. We can thank George for that one. We can thank the Beatles for a great spur-of-the-moment take, as the band indeed, as Lennon asked, "pass the audition."
WOW. I always liked this version.I had it on SWEET APPLE TRACKS. I agree about the solo. Sorry the song was cut short. It sounds rehearsed.Notice the mistake before Ringo's drum fill. They also had a faster version of Two of us that I really liked. Too bad these were never released. Thanks for letting me enjoy this again. There is also a cool version of FOR YOU BLUE with 2 electric guitars. Do you have that as well?
@SeanCambo, I'm a detractor of Paul's post-Beatles work, which is for the most part horrible (Band on the Run is the most overrated album in the past thirty years). But in the Beatles, there is no doubt that the Macca delivered the goods. The final version of Get Back is a very funky take, featuring Lennon's most accomplished guitar solo, bar non (pun intended). But this driving practice take is interesting, and Harrison's tossed-off minor key Clapton/Hendrixy wah-wah a scorcher.
@MrAngemystere the solo's work of Paul is beautiful because is always different...Band on the run is more differente of Ram or also Flowers in the dirt
@ballaesmeralda: Sir/madame: the guitar solo on this track is by George Harrison, playing through a wah wah as he did on other tracks and jams during the Let it Be sessions. Paul did not play the solo on this song. You can see and hear him on the Let it Be film (see Lewisohn and Leng for documentation) There is a biting reference to Paul in Harrison's "Wah Wah" on the ATMP album.
Yes it is a Metallica album. Jay Z also made a black album. I am not a fan of hip hop or rap though. You might be able to find this album on torrents. Maybe even at record shops that sell bootlegs. Very few shops sell them. I go to one shop that sells a few here and there.
Wow! This song doesn't suck after all!

Not the original, but awesome guitar solo! Also we get to hear them start a verse, then go "oh." and wait for the drum solo at 1:34
