The reason you dont see this in game anymore is because now that they are out of Beta, they sort of need to stick to lore. You dont really see ragnaros outside orgrimmar too often >_> Beta was just a mess around and test things out stage.
GMs/Blizzard are not as cool as they were in Vanilla/BC, heck, even some of WoTLK. They never do anything cool like this, and infact, the 'official' events now suck, the scourge invasion of wrath(and i guess naxx) was the last decent thing that was done. GMs don't transform nobody into nothing for fun. No more kiting lord kazzak into orgrimmar - The city which is the hotspot for alt tabbing into facebook.

@Neofrascati It was a more hard core game for sure, more grinding and farming. This just made it even more rewarding when you finally got that item you were going for.

Why do so many people bitch about the expansions, if it's been out for five years, would you really have wanted to stay at 60? for five years? change makes the game interesting. Besides you can still do the older stuff, just more laid back, I like being on my 80 and just chilling, doing some old instances/raids and then being more serious with Naxx/Ulduar etc. change is good, face it

they could of added more dungeons and raids your 5 man is nothing compared to 40 people hurdling through a dungeon your heroics are fine but its still half the force needed to do a oldschool raid. it actually took a great leader to hold a group together and boy the only pugs were for dungeons cause they were 5 people going in and killing shit.

No, the bosses were spawned only for the beta close event. Before the Real World of Warcraft there was trial version. This is the end of the trial version and the beggining of the Real World of Warcraft.
