Very nice video. And I am a Land Rover lover myself. But, I must say it makes me sad to see all those magnificent piece british engineering insulted with "road tires" on an off-road track ? :( I can never stand a person making an RRS looks like it has to struggle :D or even rev up to cross something :/ It can do it on its own with low revs but with appropriate tires. Still all of them did all the course, hats of to the engineering !!! Love em!
RRS are actually really good stock offroad vehicles, driven by old men with too much money(and women).
But please, stop pushing/holding the cars...it's nonsense! Think you can hold 2,7tons at 16:40? 14:00 what the hell is wrong with you? It's so narrow you're just gonna make him scratch something. 06:35 you think your push got him out? come on...get rid of stroking the cars!
Most of the activity you noted was undertaken by the guide from Black Spur 4WD Training Centre who was in the Toyota. You may want to raise the matter with them.
As for the age thing, I'm not sure about the relevance there champ. Two out of the five cars have owners under 45. One owner is 38. The other two are in their 50's. Not sure I'd really say that it was an 'old' crowd. As long as people enjoy it - who cares about the age or $.
@JamieOGilmore hi mate i have a g4 event veh RRS BL05 KZH from the 2006 challenge just wanted to ask the wine red rrs has a rear spare whell carrier did he farbricate this himself did he buy it as i am looking to remove my spare wheel from underneath due to lpg conversion as mine is a v8 petrol thx
Glad to see you're doing what this machines were made for, great machines good off road capability while being very confortable. Not my personal choise i will go with the defender (better off road and cheaper).
this vidio have a problems, is embarrassing see a Toyota Land cruiser guiding all land rovers. Now the message would be that buy a toyota becouse is the best that land rover?
There are more than a few people like that I'm sure and I'm often considered a bit of a nut for taking mine off-road the way I do but hey - each to their own - that's what I bought mine for. There are a surprising number of like-minded nuts in the Range Rover Club that also seem to enjoy this kind of thing.
Jamie, super video, great tracks and RRS in their element getting down and dirty, sensational. Tyres obviously a bit of an issue for one or two in that slick mud but just shows how capable these are even on street rubber.
Thinking of trading in my D3 later this year for a MY2011 RRV TDV8. 700Nm of torque :-)) Would love to give it some exercise on a track like that once I get it :)
You must be thinking of the Supercharged Sport mate with every possible option including the push button reach around service. If you option up a 200 series you can almost get to the same money, just not the same performance.
200 series is 85 to 120k. I found plenty of RRS's at over 175k so hardly in the same range. Very nice cars for sure but hardly relevant in Australia IMO. Id love to see the number that actually sell each year.

@JamieOGilmore Actually, testers have observed 0-60 times of about 5.1 seconds(that probably converts to like 5.3 or 5.4 seconds to 100 kph). That puts in the same territory as the 4.6L Mustang GT or the 2011 Charger R/T. So would say its defantly faster then any production land cruiser, including the 5.7L petrol V8 versions. Also thanks being my evidence people actually take their Range Rovers off road :)
The RR is almost as good as a 20yr old toyota these days. Almost but not quite.. Definitely much nicer to drive and better interiors but these ones had the WORST tyre choices. Its a shame they price themselves so far out oft the market or they might have made an awesome tourer instead of a city orientated status symbol.
Different strokes for different folks is suppose. The beauty of the sport is that even on road rubber, you can do this kind of thing and then jump straight into the black-top and drive it like a sports car. Most modified fouby's are terrible to drive on the road and the Sport for a lot of people gives the bes of both worlds.
As for the price, again that probably comes down to individual choice and situation. Mind you, a new 200 series will set you back somewhere between 90-140k which is the same range as the Sport.

This is awesome and makes me never want another SUV besides my Rover.
Did all members change their tyres, or are you running stock setup? Please let me know what brand/model you are all running & PSI, etc.
THX!
ThugProductions 6 months ago
@ThugProductions Most people ran their road rubber/daily driver tyres to this event.
I was running a set of Cooper Zeon LTZ's 285/60/18 dropped down to around 24psi.
Some of the guys only dropped pressures to 28.
