for fast connection people can use it to go songs while gaming google chrome is a ram sucker opera din took much so opera is basically a browser for gaming and better performance browser in the universe
i have used google chrome for SOOO long, i was falsely lead by ads into thinking google chrome was the fastest, LIES I TELL YOU! Opera is by far the fastest!!! dont use anything other than opera because its fast even on my slow connection, Thank you opera!
Best browser I have ever used . Now, it is primary in my both machines, and I think this will leave this way :) you guys are doing a great job about this software, besides, my nokia also has opera :)
More browsers should have this feature, also, i the future i would like to see someone make a server-side program for this! Because I have a very slow connection, but I also have 100Mbit servers in Europe that I can use to compress the data for me, would be nice if I can use my own servers instead of Opera's!
I haven't heard of opera until 2 days ago. I wish i used it ealier. I loved it so much I gave up chrome firefox and ie8 for it. But chrome and firefox are still my faves
@NikeGiR thats only because you probably have a fast Internet connection. The whole point of Turbo was to make it faster when you have a bad connection. I have tried an experiment similar to this on my laptop when I was at some restaurant and I can safely say it does work but only when you have a slow connection
guys the opera browser is the best one..it completely changed my way of browsing the Internet. this is way to faster..! This is the Firefox and Internet Explorer Killer for sure..!
Hmm, this might just fit the bill. My wireless router (DI-524 flashed to a DI-624) drops connections like crazy when three wireless and one wired connections are active at once... I was considering replacing it, but if Opera Turbo reduces the ammount of data congestion by as much as 80% then i might not have to replace it, as there would simply be less strain on the router. I'll give this a shot first.
"With turbo enable, the web page is being sent to our server..."
Isn't there a privacy concern here? What guarantee do we have that our private data is being kept confidential? What security mechanisms do you have in place to prevent an attacker from intercepting these pages?
If you look on their website it documents that encrypted things such as passwords and ssl will not go through the servers because they are required to communicate directly with the machine.
@tramvaj12 My ISP is providing me a service under contract. If they violated that contract I take legal action against them. I don't haven't signed any contract with Opera asserting my rights to the data and to my privacy. We also don't know what measures, if any, Opera has taken to protect such a feature from abuse by a malicious attacker. Is there any authentication happening to protect users from DNS spoofing?
@dragonwisard No one can protect you from bad software, just use good Internet security software and i do not think you would have any problems, BTW you accept agreement when you install application. And I do not trust to no one, If i want to send something to someone I'm using Skype or any other program that provide any kind of encryption, and protectnig with my own software on the net.
@tramvaj12 It's not about your internet security software. Based on my understanding of the "feature" it introduce a new attack vector because an attacker need only spoof the turbo servers to initiate an MITM attack.
Also the agreement you accept by installing the software is only intended to protect Opera. It doesn't do anything to protect the end users. What I'm talking about with ISPs is an SLA to protect the customer or a bilateral agreement to protect both parties.
@dragonwisard I'm not working for Opera, ad I'm aware of some things, I know face book is collecting data about me, Google, and God know who else is doing it. I'm not sure your government is filter free so everyone is looking someone. But I do not see how someone can use opera turbo to start attack and not some other way to do the same attack, give me some theoretical abuse from third party using this software?
It's obvious that dragonwisard is right. What they're trying to say is that their ISP are bound to a contract, and if said contract were to break, (i.e. Distributing private data) then dragonwisard can sue them as punishment. The case is different for Opera, who are not yet known if they're bound to any sort of rule-set regarding users private data sent to them, and as thus we are unaware of any punishments that can be applied to Opera if they were to distribute private data, etc
did anyone else notice that the browser on the left has an illuminated "forward" button, meaning that a page had already been visited (even though he said it had a cleared cache)?
Opera can display the forward button in certain instances. Mine displays the forward button on forums, it takes you to the next page - it must find the 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 links and know they are part of the navigation.
i noticed that, but it's the button with the double arrow that does that, not the regular forward button. besides, there are no actual links on the page he starts on.
As I wrote a few months before....the engine has not become really better and the compression still makes horibble artefacts. With a fast connection you should not use turbo, but without turbo Opera is still slower as all other browsers I've tested on my mac. Guys, WORK ON THE ENGINE! Please!
Safari and FF and Crome are getting much faster nearly every week and you.....so please!
It seems to load speedily. I have not performed any side-by-side benchmarks, but Opera felt just as fast as Firefox 3, but with only 1/4 the memory usage.

opera 9.64 look "Making you faster"...if opera 10 is fasten that opera 9.64 why the opera homepage says "Making you faster"..? hehe..Opera is suck....Why? Peopple download firefox , google cho....Opera have java problem and security problem...
It would cost a huge amount....I don't think, that it is a solution to compress highly compressed data even more instead of really improoving the brwoser engine...but I will stay with Opera as long as I'm not forced to use th turbo-feature
I tested Opera 10Alpha with the Turbo-feature. The compressed pictures look horrible pixelized and many plugins don't work.....and I ask myself, if more peolple will use this feature, let's say 15 Mio., how will Opera manage to have enough server power??

Yeah, very comfortable^^. I think this technolog is shit. They should work on Presto 3^^. I mean Firefox, Safari and Crome all have got faster engines and that without a bad compression technology which won't work any more if many people would use Opera......bad work I think, But I stay>Using Opera 10 WITHOUT Turbo
I use Opera, like I wrote before. On low networks it might be great, but my net is fast^^. And torrents...yeah, I think the torrentengine of Opera is completely useless. And the new engine has nothing to do with torrents. Torrents>utorrent or Vuze, nothing else. On my Mac I prefer Vuze. By the way a bad thing about Opera: the new Alphas often just come out for windows, very poor I think. If you look at Firefox 3.6 - every day an update. I just stay with Opera because of the mailengine..
Opera is brilliant! So glad I found it, Chrome was crashing all the time.

I have "Web Accelerator" on my dialup ISP, and always wished I could use the compression on my slow DSL connection. Now I can.
Yes it makes images look like crap. So what? I'm interested in the information, not a bunch of colorful ads. The more they got squashed the better.
