j bass=fender jazz bass

p bass=fender precision bass

the pickguards are different, a jazz bass has a metal looking piece sticking out of the pickguard, the p bass has a pickguard that goes along with the bass edge, just like most bass pickguards. the j bass has two think single coil pickups, wher the p bass has a humbucking style or two split single coils. they sounds different as well. hope that helps

its not really. it just takes time to get your fingers to adapt to playing. at 0:35 i recommend popping, not picking, wayyy brighter sound. works better.

Is the J bass better than the P bass ?

Hard question! It is a fact that J bass is more versatility than the P bass. Meanwhile, they're used in different styles of music. P bass, for example, it's more used in rock/pop/etc. J bass it's more used in jazz/blues/funk/etc. Also you can use J bass in rock/pop. If you're looking for a J bass, I recommend you the Music Man Sting Ray. I've got one and that's BRILLANT. But everyone have your preference. Make your!
