If you want to understand the real meaning of the movie "Eyes Wide Shut" then you have to bear in mind that Stanley Kubrick said, "Observancy is a dying art".
thanx for the upload - this music was the only good thing about this movie. A sad swan song for an incredible director. Theere were about 25 minutes of amusement in this one - the rest of the movie was an abortion IMHO.
just watched this for the first time last night. I had previously avoided it as I'd heard it was poor and not worth watching. I was misled... I thought it was fucking awesome! Note to self: ignore other peoples' idiotic opinions until you have time to judge for yourself :-)
Lo siento, a mi no me gustó el desarrollo psicológico de los personajes principales, pero fráncamente, las imágenes, el suspenso y la música de la palícula es maestra.
@shaojian but that's the beauty of it! Cuz it's not done we use our aesthetic senses to feel it.. Btw Woody Allen gave it the seal of kubrick's approval since he knew his sense of style they made him edit the movie I guess it's as close as it should have been
@cyberlarry7 This is Dmitri Shostakovich's Waltz from the Jazz Suite 2 - 6 (the second waltz). The recording is by the Philadelphia Orchestra, Mariss Jansons conducting. It was recorded in March of 1996 at Giandomenico Studios in Collingswood, New Jersey, which is right across the Delaware River from Philadelphia.
Maestro Jansons has, with various orchestras, recorded the entire cycle of Shostakovich Symphonies and several of Shostakovich's other works.
@calinutza33 The masons have much more important things to do than killing a man. And there are a lot other orders badder than "The Masons", about which I bet most people know nothing, only what they hear from others. A lot of orders, be they "good" or "evil", have style and rituals like the one in this movie.
This piece is a dream, an assault, a challenge, a celebration; it is agony, bliss, a dance, a brawl, remorse, delight. It is life. How fitting that it is the theme from Kubrick's ultimate film.
Mr Stanley Kubrick was in the Pantheon of great film makers almost all his professional life. For this film, for the 1st time, he didn't get that overwelming positive critic. My point of view is, I just love this movie! But the negative critic he received for this film, did it kill him?
"Barry Lyndon" didn't receive great reviews either. But I think "Barry" and "Eyes Wide Shut" are Kubrick's two greatest masterpieces. Movie critics don't know great art when they see it -- their perception is damaged from too many terrible movies. They can tell you about the new "Spiderman," for for responding to a genius like Kubrick they're useless. I've read that Kubrick died happy with "Eyes Wide Shut" and thought it might be his best, according to his family.
Chilling. I actually cried at the end of this movie. It was so fucking gorgeous and the color plethora was grand and unmissable! Kubrick was a true saint!
This waltz almost brings me to tears, not only because it's beautiful but also because it comes in at the closing credits, of Kubrick's final film- he never got to make another. The part starting at 1:51 is especially lovely.
but friends look at all the views just goes to prove whats going on in this sick world. Im sure Kubrick was told not to release this movie. Infact I may be wrong but I was told the ending isnt the one from the script the Kubrick sent in before he died..Anyone got any thoughts on this..
It's Kubrick's ending. There are published photographs of him directing the final scene on the set. And he had contractual final cut, meaning that, legally, no one could change anything in his film without his (or, after his death, his estate's) consent.
Kubrick´s Eyes Wide Shut is really an expose of the "Elites" and their MK-Ultra mind control powers. The party scene, for example, is actually about Kidman and other women being psychologically "screwed with". The shots of "illuminated" star symbols in the background surrounding Kidman's head are all mind control iconography. A misunderstood but brilliant film nonetheless. Kubrick was murdered for this film. WOOOORD!
I agree, such a trailer as this video would have been great marketing, especially knowing Kubrick, I mean look at the ad campaigns he put together for the Shining, CWO etc. And with such a magnetic waltz, and giving away nothing of the masterowk that is EWS, I think it would have been a hit. Also, I think the way it was advertised was actually detrimental to the initial reaction to the film, because critics were expectiung some sort of pronographyb and ended up with a philosophical allegory.
Yes... but how brilliant of the critical establishment to be surprised and antagonized by a philosophical allegory from Kubrick... given his lifelong dedication to producing frivolous, empty, sensationalistic audience-pleasers! American movie critics are largely middlebrow imbeciles --look at them jump all over the place in their excitement over the utterly ordinary and uninteresting (except for the 3D effects) "Avatar."
This suite is called differently in different sources (see explanations in the Wikipedia). The waltz is an absolute beauty, reminds of the famous Dreyzin's waltz "Beryozka" (birch tree) and expresses the very soul of the military brass orchestra.
