Thank you. Since my last posting, our dear friend, Bob Burnett, passed away caused by a brain tumor. Sad to say, The Highwaymen will no longer be performing. But I'm still here and will continue to post thoughts about the Group from time to time. Thank you to all who have enjoyed our music and have remained loyal fans throughout the years.
I remembered liking this song when I was in second grade - but just heard it for the first time in 50 years, just great! I love all the comments, bless the Highwaymen!
Was Pleased To see The Highwaymen Did Ithe Great song It Brings Back Many Memories...I totally covered this song myself Check itt out on my channel@ddoubleddh Hey G-Day 2 Ya....Dd
Thank you for the kind words. This is from the banjo player in the group, Roy Connors. Being relaxed is one of the things we loved about our group. We didn't have to "force" the music. We genuinely had a great time every time we performed. And Steve Lawrence became one of our closest friends. Again, thanks for the kind words.
Just posted "Michael" to my FB page. I sang several of your songs to my kids, grandkids, and now great-grandkids (oldest now 18 which really dates me). Your music will never grow old.
Thought I'd look for you guys here and there you are! This is priceless! Had a great time last week and hope you both come and sing with us again. Andrea
Sorry! By the time I joined The Highwaymen Gil had already left the group and I lost touch with him. You may try getting in touch with his son, Tim, by contacting his agent.
I'm wondering whether you know of a recording of The Highwaymen with Gil Robbins. He conducted a chorus in NY in the '80's that I played for. Mary sang 2nd alto, and Adele and Gabby sang sometimes, too.
Tim's dad was Gil Robbins who left the group in 1961. He is not in this group that took over from the original Highwayen in 1964. This group consists of me (Roy Connors, banjo), Renny Temple, Alan Shaw, and Mose Henry (deceased). Thanks for asking about us.
This group consists of Renny Temple, Mose Henry, Alan Shaw, and me, Roy Connors (banjo). We were The Highwaymen from late '64 to '69 under the leadership of one of the original Highwaymen, David Fisher - who passed away in July. Bob B is being treated for a brain tumor and seems to be doing very well. I don't know if the original group will continue to perform now that David is gone.
It is one of my favorite group wayback to the early 60s era! I remembered buying the record "Cotton Fields" and "Gypsy Rover". The record dealer said they were on the same vinyl! I jumped with joy without buying two different records! I can still remembered the moment the stylus hit the groove for Cotton Fields in the glass room( air -conditioned) of the record shop. Oh! the bass and the lead voice oozing out ...When I was a little baby... I cannot forget the thrill !
Thank you for the comment. This was when we were on the TV show "Hullabaloo", April 13, 1965. Steve Lawrence was the host of the show. There's another song on YouTube we did on this same show called "Heaven So High." You may enjoy that one too.
This was great. What an era of great harmonizing, yes? Isn't that Steve Lawrence singing with them on this particular stage? I do believe it is. Thanks :)
You are very welcome. And thank you for remembering us after all these years.

Those guys had so much relaxed fun then....today pressure makes it all too posed!

Bob B is not in this video as the original group disbanded in 1964.
Do the surviving members of the original group still perform?

I guess Bob Burnett is not in this video. The original group disbanded in 1964 and this performance ocurred in 1965.
Do the original surviving Highwaymen still perform?
