You know, speaking of Electrode, there's something that's been bugging me about Electrode for a while now. Electrode has a height of 3'11 and a weight of 146.8 lbs. Assuming that it is a shape of a perfect sphere in which its diameter times its height, one can easily calculate its density is 73.6 kilograms per cubic meter. As the density of water is 1,000 kilograms per meters cubed, it should be able to easily float on water carrying something as heavy as 2,000 lbs...but it can't learn Surf.

There are two reasons this could be.

#1 Electrode is a ball, so if you tried to sit on it while it was in the water, it would roll over because of your weight and you'd fall off.

#2 Electrode has no limbs so has no way of propelling itself through water, so it wouldn't be so much "surf" as "float".

It still should technically be able to surf, however what i want to know is that it says in the pokedex that when charged enough it will be light enough to fly on wind currents?

So it should learn fly aswell? This is why i <3 Electrodes!

I disagree. Yes, it should float, but I'd say it still wouldn't be able to really surf.

Still, pokemon is full of these inconsistencies -- tiny spearow and pidgey can learn "fly" and apparently carry a human when doing so, but scyther cannot, gastly is a poison type but does not naturally learn poison moves, drowzee is said to eat dreams but does not learn dream-eater naturally, and gyarados is a flying type but cannot learn any flying type moves at all save for "bounce" by TM.

I see where ur comin from with pokemon being a bit messed up in the head but i guess the excuse is that pokemon best fit their move set in their final forms, also ive seen that Seedot learns explosion at highest level and yet Nuzleaf and Shiftry don't, so if you were dedicated enough you get a exploding Shiftry?

Gyarados is a duel water-flying type, but it cannot learn any flying type moves at all with the one exception of "bounce", which it can learn in generation 4 games from a move tutor (not a TM disc, I was wrong about that, sorry). Magikarp can also learn bounce through a special game event, but other than that gyarados cannot learn any flying type moves at all, whether by levelling up, move re-learner or by TM, so its secondary flying type status makes no sense.

@beedrill434 nah, oaks study relys on OTHER trainers catching pokemon, therefore the dont really show loyalty to anyone but the trainer they''re caught by, and assuming oak has not badges, which somehow makes a difference, they react like that...
