I have been diabetic for several years, and living with diabetes is a big lifestyle rearrangement with several changes that happen on the fly. There are the needs and there are the wants. I don't gain much weight because all of my wants get converted to blood sugar and I spike. My medications were boosted again, and I'm getting closer to going on insulin. I think it will be a relief when I can just dial in more insulin when I take care of one of those wants...
I have no discipline and don't do well with diets..although I was on that Nutri-system for a couple years. but you know, once you go off those things, you tend to eat the stuff you weren't supposed to before and in quantities that are just too much! I rebel that way! I'm just trying to do portion control and not have seconds! Ihave never heard of a "grow up" condo..What does that mean? Is that kind of like a starter? I hope you were refreshed from your nap! I need one and I just got up! :))
@mysteryglo Grow-op is what we call those residential homes where someone guts them and grows weed. London has had a rash of those and 90% of the neighbours were completely surprised it was going on. But no such thing here - I've never even seen these owners.
The "lifestyle change"... really is difficult! It annoys me that my sister can eat whatever she wants and never goes over 100 pounds. It is a struggle, Judy!
The nap was good! I think it is the new BP pill making me tired. - roc
Roc, I know what you mean about want and need... I've been fulfilling too much of the wants... and gained a few pounds this past week. I need to get my head on straight.
@Fluttershy It isn't easy to do that 'get the head on straight' thing! We get used to having what we want when we want it, and denial isn't part of my STYLE! But...
Sorry your feeling cranky, hopefully the nap made you feel better. Oy bad knees are the worst, as you know I deal with the one bad knee too. I'm just glad we don't let it get us down. : )
Hope you had a wonderful nap. I take a nap every day. I am using myfitnesspal web site to help calculate calories and exercise. it's free and I enjoy tracking things like that.
If it was a grow house, as we call them in the South, the lovely aroma of burning pot would've filled the air, and the whole neighborhood would've been stoned.
My problem is that want makes the decisions. Need never enters the picture, until I've rationalized that I need it because I want it. And then it's too late...
@anmoose My nap was good! The fire wasn't a grow op - it would have been splashed in the news by the media! And you are right - we would have smelled it!
Take good care of yourself and get your nap! Oh a grow op now a good thing, altho when I was younger me and my boyfriend smoked a bit of pot and it did no harm, heheh even when I was a young teenager we tried a few time to smoke pot it was the thing to do in the early 70s, I deleted my postson yr last video about the fire just too close to home for me, hope you don't mind, I'[m sure you don't. Have a terrific wkend! hugs!
I hope you were got your nap. I tried 4 days this week and got 15 minutes 1 of the days. Today lying down made the doorbell ring. Most days it makes my son &/or hubby want to talk to me. Naps are a good thing; we deserve them. Hubby (Gary) has been referred for a new knee. He has an appointment with the surgeon a week from today. But he had it repaired at least twice, so this time, they said no, it must be replaced. Shame about the fire - we have those grow houses here too. Dangerous!
@thizizliz I was happy to have the nap, Liz! I hope Gary does well with his new knee! I think I will need one sometime in the future. You will have to let me know how Gary does!
@popparoc46 I absolutely will. I'll be back soon - I'm getting sort of back to myself again. His appointment with the surgeon is this coming Friday, so we'll know something soon. He already has a new hip and you'd never know he had an issue. It's amazing. You were right not to invite those folks in by the way - it's not as though you know them and are friends!
@thizizliz heh heh. I will need to know EVERYTHING, Liz! I have my yearly appointment with my surgeon in March (he wanted to do my knee about 10 years ago - I lost 50 pounds during the 18 months I waited for the surgery to be scheduled and we decided to wait again because I had no pain) and we will see what he has to say now. The only surgery I've ever had was my appendix out in 1975. I am a little scared.
@popparoc46@popparoc46 Okay, maybe that will be my come back video. I've watched several videos on the surgery itself and offered to do it for him, but he turned me down. Imagine that? He's worried I would make him clean up after, so we're going to go conventional. (Grin) You will get an incision on the front of your knee a few inches long, right up the center but everyone I know who has had it was happy with the results. I'll let you know.
My knees are shot and I have to face the fact that I will need replacements at some point but we are trying to put it off because I am young for that type of thing. Im sorry you have to deal with that kind of pain. I take naps often, have no choice sometimes it is the only way I can get myself out of the horrid pain. I hope you got some rest and that you are feeling better now. Hugs xo
Knee pain is horrible -- my mom has had surgery on both knee (totally replacement). It slows ya down too, have to be careful. Yeah - lifestyle change -- I've been working on that for a while and it's so so hard. I hope you get some rest!
(2) hours just because you can't go to bed with strangers in your home. Then you'd feel as if you had to feed them and give them drinks and/or entertain them. Oy. Uncomfy. Yeah.
You seemed rather subdued in this video. I hope the knee is okay soon.
Oh! Today I received a lovely photo in the mail today. Thank you to you and thank you to Pat for suggesting it! I love it :)
Okay back to you. The fire. I thought to myself, "oh those people are piling out of their home. I would have asked them if they wanted to sit in our home until they were cleared to go back to their home" but then I would have been irritated at myself because then I'd have to be up for five or six
@silverscreamgrl A side effect of my BP pill is "unusual tiredness". I attribute my mood and need for a nap on the pill! I never nap in the afternoon! My knee is pissing me off. I can't take a step without concentrating on where I am putting my foot or if I am twisting my knee. I want to be 22 again. I am glad you liked the picture! I thought you would like it.
Pat and I discussed if we should invite some of those people inside. 3 of them had to evacuate and the others were drawn by the
@silverscreamgrl 2 - fire. We've never met those who live in the burned unit - never seen them in the two years they have lived there. ... in any case, we were both looking forward to bed and I didn't really want to entertain at 10:30!! - just as you said!
I'm so sorry to hear about your knee Roc. Knee pain is no fun. I've been taking glucosimine and MSM and am going to get a product called ll natural calm that has Magnesium all good for joint pain. I had some knee and shoulder pain and the glucosimine and MSM cleared it right up after a few days. But mine was a very mild pain.
Naps are one of lifes great luxuries. I hope you enjoyed your's.
@Ultimatecruegirl Yes, I've been taking the glucosamine for years! I have a torn meniscus and osteoarthritis. And I am fighting surgery. When my weight is down, things are better, and the exercise is stressing the knee. Meh. Such is life.
i had a tumble on ice and fell on my knee but like you, it felt better quite quickly. if it was a grow op, would there not have been a particular fragrance to the air?
I have no idea what a grow up is Roc. I took a nap today... I just had to. I'm still sleepy. I hope your knee is better.... I know it's painful. I've had shots in my knees and shoulders. Hugs!
@imperceptibleme Hi Melissa. A grow-op is a basement full of growing weed! The neighbours around the place that burned said that it was an "unusual" place. Who knows. It actually was kind of mean...
