  • You asshole i was gonna do this for my science project and you didnt put instructions for the big one now i have an F

  • @KINGxOFxFAME sorry about that. But I do have complete instructions on my website.

  • wow!! smurfs at war!!!

but they cant reload it without ur finger :D

  • I built one based on the Caddy-Pult for a school project. It is 4' long and 2' wide. For torsion cables I used about 80' of 3/8" nylon rope. It works pretty well. It will throw a tennis ball 120' and a golf ball 150'.

  • @44492611 Nice!

  • @44492611 wow, nice! And thanks for checking out my website. Caddy Pult is pretty neat.

  • can the goblin go 10 meters?

  • @SketchMomo Dunno. depends on how you build it. but probably

  • @epicfantasy i did build it, but maybe its due to the crappy elastic im using but it only goes 1 meter -_-. Should i just double its size.

  • @SketchMomo CHange that elastic or add more of them. It should fire a lot more than a meter! Keep working on this one before building another.

  • @epicfantasy ok but what type of elastic should I get? and can you name some type of stores that could have some good quality elastics?

  • @SketchMomo Kind of tricky. Go to an office supply store and get a bag full of rubber bands. They will have all different shapes and sizes so you can experiment. Even can ask your postman for free rubber bands. They use a lot of them.

  • @epicfantasy so after some adjustments and design changes, it shot 10 meters! thank you for the design!!

  • @SketchMomo Cool and you are welcome!

  • @epicfantasy I did build it, at its original scale, but it only fires about 1 meter, I liked the design since I need a catapult that can throw at various distances, but the max I need it 10 meters. Would tripling its size help out?

  • could you launch a squirrel with it

  • which one do you think would be able to fire a tennis ball well?

  • @Kabirakmal234 I have a tennis ball catapult here on my channel.

  • @epicfantasy well my catapult can only be 12'' by 6'' and an 18 inch arm ( have any videos for that?

  • does anyone know how far this goes?

  • @soxfanatic10 Depends on how you build it. thirty ish feet or more.

  • my school football team is the Goblins.

  • @capps4242 thats kinda cool.

  • this got me a 100% on my project. thanks man

  • @l0ves2splooge congrats!

  • does the length that you pull it back effect the length that the projectile is flung???

  • Damn physics project >.>

  • How thick is each plank of wood? On your website you only list the height and length, but not the width.

  • @Uhm0202 for which catapult? The gobln or the ogre?

  • is the ogre accurate? i need to build a catapult similar to it for physics.... and it is based on accuracy. plz answer my question thanks :)

  • @xxBlackLagoonxx17 Some kind of torsion catapult would be more accurate.

  • @epicfantasy but why in all the videos i seen on youtube the arm is stopped at 90 degrees, whats the difference? and if you find your plans for the best angle, send me the link please

  • @frnk575 IT makes a very big difference in how far it will throw. 90 degress is not good. 45 is much better.

  • someone can say me what is the right angle to stop the arm on this type of catapult?

  • @frnk575 about 45 degrees will be pretty good. Not the exact right spot but close enough. I have a technical paper for this somewhere on my website. Dunno where.

  • how do we not know your a giant?-mold mereal

  • humans r awesome

  • u my friend have 2 much spare time

  • safety glasses? fuck that shit xD

  • This is gonna look awesome in my moms garden~!

  • @PyR0Star if u put it in ur garden u could use it to scare people away :D

  • @wolverinet83 people or goblins?

  • @PyR0Star Both

    :D

  • 45 Mexicans tried to use this catapult, To get to the Usa and miserably failed.

  • American 45's tried to use but very stupid or did not know whether it was climbing down

  • I made a better one with wheels and a triger in woodshop! :D

    took arround 4 hours

  • i need to make somethin' like the ogre for my physics project. would i be able to decrease the base to be 1.5' x 1.5' and still have the height at 2' or under and be able to shoot a waterballoon about 20 ft?

  • @devilsecret0 yes

  • @TeRmSnipin Yes, as long as you have the materials.

  • those are really cool

  • Man these things are epic, i just wanted to say thanks for building theese and showing them there very helpful, i need to launch a little ball 10m 20m and 30m do u thik i could do that with this the ball is 1inch by 1inch

  • @codycool021 You are welcome and definitely yes, that ball should fling.

  • will it be able to fit in a 1by 1 meter cube and shoot 10 meters

  • Will it be able to launch at least 11 meters?

  • Cuz u worn eye glasses ;)

  • Can I build this in 1 hour?

  • @jfdh98 probably not.

  • I need to launch a golfball 25 ft (about 7m). Can this thing do that?

  • quickly press 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. it show you the 5 ways to finger catapults

  • When are you going to post the plans for the goblin on your website??

  • @Stormfire15 darn, must have forgotten all about it and yikes. I will check on this and post the plans within the next few days. Thanks for checking on it!

  • @epicfantasy Thx. I cant wait :)

  • @Stormfire15 I posted the plans for the goblin catapult. The link is now in the description of this video. Thanks for the reminder.

  • ogre is cool

  • Mate the problem with this is that YOU have to hold the catapult. It can't handle it's fire power. Thats a sign of a crappy weapon. But you put in effort and thats all that matters. :o)

  • i like trebuchet's better because they are smooth, catapults make a big thud when they hit the crossbeam

  • i need a catapult that shoots about 50 feet and 25 feet in the air any suggestions to what i should build

  • He just saved my eye!!! We tried this one out at school (we built a catapult with some of my classmates and the woodwork teacher). BAM, the string blew right on my face when we were testing it out. Thank god I still can see, I only got a scar on my forehead! :D

  • how to use the ogre catapult? how would it swing? I need that for my science project on January 24, 2011

  • what type of catapult are these based on

  • "these things can be dangerouse" phhhht! mayby if your hurling live grenades

  • 0:01

  • dangerouth

  • on your site i read about the little ogre, and how it was 75 percent of the original ogres length,do you think it can do 5 meters

  • @mignoor yes, definitely

  • @epicfantasy

thanks for the awesome video, because of u i gotta 90 on my assignment

now i have a chanche of passing physics thank u so much :)

  • @mignoor Grats and good job!

  • @mignoor now you can work on english chance not chanche jk

  • awesome catapult ,and video

this will help a lot with my physics project

my goal is to launch an aluminum foil 8m

do u think it can launch it to that much??

  • lion king was a good movie

  • i bet i can go farther just by throwing it by hand lol

  • trebuchet is the only way to go

  • Lou Ferrigno???

  • My only problem with either catapult is from overuse. When the catapult actually fires, the stick that flies foreward hits the beam. Maybe you can put some felt or something to protect the wood so it doesnt break.

  • how far would you say your TROLL catapult launches?

my goal is 3 meters and i'm wondering whether i should use this model due to the size constraints my teacher gave me.

  • @uyyahlehh98 Definitely can do three meters.

  • @uyyahlehh98 ???? wa tzeg je ik ben nederlands

  • @uyyahlehh98 ???? wa tzeg je ik ben nederlands /dutch

  • how far does this shoot?

  • I think if you place a pulley on the wood where the bungee chord is it will launch it farther. Just an idea. I think you can get one at a tractor supply store or any farmers supply store.

  • Nice lisp why not keep ur tongue down when u speak and get rid of dang lisp

  • how the fuck do you make the little one? URGENT AS HELL. PLEASE RESPOND WITH LINK OR DIRECTIONS

  • your voice is wierd

  • trebuchet is a lot better!:D

  • That's So Cool!!!!!! :D

  • will can u make a tutorial on this ?

  • I know that release mechanisms can be tricky but wouldn't this be more safe if you could engage the arm in a catch, and then step back and release it by pulling on a string? That way your hand, and the rest of your body isn't right there when the catapult is firing.

  • @Shakespeare1612 Yes, this is an excellent suggestion. Thanks. I did end up upgrading to a string release. It's somewhere in the catapult section of my website.

  • @epicfantasy do u think you could give me the url for your upgrade to a string release on your website?

  • cool catapults fire with some waterballoons

  • These are weak suace:(

  • i made the ogre for school for aerodynamics and i got an A and an extra 5% for how far it shot.

  • @DoGmAnGuY1758 Nice! Good work and grats on the A.

  • @epicfantasy try using physical therapy bands for your power source, i built a 10 in tall trebuchet with an 8 in arm in hs and launched a gum drop 60m. Also put a hole straight through a ceiling tile in our science classroom with it lol

  • @phil656565 Thanks for the adivce. I will look into using physical therapy bands. Where can I buy them?

  • @epicfantasy google shopping has a ton of them, get the high resistance bands. Ive also heard that surgical tubing is great for it too. The hard part with using them is trying to attach them since they cant be cut or punctured. I used two wood screws and a piece of oak to pinch the end of the band without puncturing them.

  • @epicfantasy just use surgical tubing

  • @epicfantasy yeah, thanks. i improved it by using extra strong wood for the swing arm, the custom cut 14 inch piece and the swing arm stop bar has extra wood for support as well as strong wood. so i was able to use 4 bungee cords and it launches rocks( not at anybody or anything of course) about 90 feet.

  • contrabands ftw!!!!!

  • Thanks man! I made catapult just like yours and I named it Goblin. But my Goblin is at least 6 times bigger than your Ogre.

  • how make?

  • This might sound weird but i built a Knex catapult for school it didnt go very far but it was cool.

  • I'm using the larger design for a project at school :P

  • doosss youss hass a lisspsss

  • Very cool designs here. The one issue I keep seeing is a release mechanism. I am making one like the larger of these and have it working, but my kid's teacher will not allow him to pull the lever back with his hands and release it. He has ti have some other release mechanism. Any ideas on how to do this?

  • release mechanism is always an issue. I do have a few solutions on my website. You can use eyehooks and a coathanger to make a decent release.

  • i want to make a catapult but i don't know if the design is right

  • I made a video about this if any of you guys want to see it. It was a lot longer than I thought and needed to be put into two videos, but it isn't a response to this because I had my hands full even trying to make it on a playlist.

  • ok so I built the Ogre since it looked easier and had online instructions on your website, and well it worked but I am needing it to go farther, 10 meters for Science Olympiad, I am in division C since highschool so it needs to go 2 to 10 meters, which I am not sure of the distance yet. The catapult works fine, it is just I need it to go farther, I tried adding more bungee cords for more power and didnt help at all, would you suggest me reducing the weight of the arm? Or what?

  • One of the things you can do to make the ogre catapult launch further is to lengthen the arm. The angle of launch is also very important, you can raise or lower the crossbar so the swing arm stops at a different angle.

  • what angle should it be at? 45 degrees right? I read that it is lower only if the catapult is off the ground, so like one meter is 44.6 degrees or something. To make it go farther I should make sure it is at 45 or higher or lower? I guess I could test it out and see. So weight then wouldnt have much to do with it? I can't really lengthen the arm too much otherwise it would go over the limit.

  • Another way to make it stronger is to make the bungi cord tighter because there is a fast release and speed = distance. However you run the risk of it snaping which is bad.

  • not really, it won't snap, it isn't that taut. I am using bigger bungee cords anyways because the smaller ones weren't giving me enough power for a large, heavier arm than the one in the video. Well I mean it would if I wrapped it around a few times which I did initially which I could still do but you need more than one strand to do it for me at least. I made it go far enough by making the angle closer to 45 degrees and I believe I improved the ogre's design.

  • couldn't fit the rest on the last comment but basically I put the stopper for the Ogre on top of the two pieces rather than parallel to it. When the bungee cord pulls down it pushes on the wood structure rather than pulling the wooden stopper off the hinges (screws in this case) so to speak. I also am using golf balls instead of tennis balls to reduce air resistance, weight, and improve accuracy. I am gonna make a video about the Ogre catapult I made, tomorrow. you can watch it there.

  • sorry for all the comments you need to read, but last thing I wanted to say was that there is a maximum point you can stretch something like a bungee cord. After that the tension goes strictly to pulling on the bungee cord like a rope, it won't give you any more potential energy. But to snap a bungee cord, it is impossible to do it with your hands even for a small one. Even with leverage of a catapult I bet you couldn't if you tried or would break your catapult first. So no worries my friend.

  • Well thanks for enlightening me. I know more about mythological creatures than I know of physics. XD Also I know useless stuff like how to make a orgasm alcohol drink and I'm a kid XD

  • @BionicleKid97 orgasm alcohol drink, whatever that is, isn't real.

  • @rbandgh3

Yeah actually it is. I saw a how to on it by Howcast.

  • have you made that kit yet

  • Darn, I haven't made this kit yet :( Nice little catapult. One of my best.

  • thanks so much for your wonderful instructions on how to build these!! I'm using the large one, but 2x, for a physics project in class. :) I really appreciate the time you put in the create and then instruct people to create them.

  • You are very welcome! Have fun with your catapult making!

  • how do you adjust the goblin's strength?

  • The Goblin catapult has sets of adjustment holes with pegs both on the swing arm and on the base. It gives a nice variety of projectile distance.

  • anyone wanna go out for tacos?

  • you sir, are a hero.

  • Thanks for watching. I am posting a Tennis Ball Trebuchet video project today.

  • They have this thing called gunpowder. Kinda made these obsolete. Its something to think about that a single flaming arrow can take out the biggest one of these.

  • @killersushi99 The idea with the biggest ones was your were out of the archers range

  • Oh, My, Lord you are AMAZING you should totally make a very big one with big planks and logs and shoot like small boulders and use it in your back yard or a park or anything big OMFG YOU ARE THE LORD OF CATAPULTS!! ALL HAIL FLING SHOT LORD!! IM NOT HIGH EITHER!! :D

  • Thanks! I have purchase some very big lumber so I can make a really big catapult. Roughly the size of a car. The lumber is in the basement. Hopefully this spring I will be making that catapult! Will be a seriously crazy/fun project.

  • Whats the length and the width of this catapault?

  • lol never shoot it at anybody.

that would break ur freakin arm rofl

  • Holy crap! Lou Ferrigno is an engineering genius!

  • wow over did it there....

  • not quite.....its the microphone

  • no sir, he does not.....its the microphone u idiot

  • lol jokes

  • the weight is off bro... you had to hold the front of both of them when you were using it. pretty freakin cool, but it looks kinda unsafe in that aspect.

  • What?

That's not a weight issue, that depends on the size of the base...

  • Caution: Do not hit your head with a hammer -- It hurts.

  • @mrkingrichard No sir, that is just a myth.

  • I think a trebuchet is more powerful and easier to make

  • it is :D

  • but many more calculations to make it right

  • @Rhinoch8 less dangerous too cause u wont have bungee chords or rubber bands that can snap and hit u

  • really a siege weapon can be dangerous. what's next running with flaming gasoline cans?

but the one's you're showing are very simple designs I could bang out plans for them in 5 minutes.

  • yes they are dangereous because the mtal part of the bungee cord can hit your eye

  • I was being sarcastic in the first part. I hate all the "cation this coffee is hot" crap.

  • Me and my friend are going to be building a larger scale catapult using bungee cords and bike shocks

i know see a flaw in our design and i thank you for the idea, as our idea did not have a Frame in the back, instead we were going to use a counter balance but this seems safer.

    Thanks

  • I'm going to use the goblin to storm a lego castle.

  • Cool!

  • hey how much are you selling it for?

  • Thanks for asking but regrettably its not for sale .

  • WOW... in 6th grade I made a catapault for a school project that was very similar to that! Mine launched a golfball over 60 feet. How far can that launch one?

  • real men build catapults that use pneumatics.

  • is it ok 2 use a rubber band instead of a bungee cord?

  • Yes, absolutely.

  • Dude, you need a disclaimer. The 'occy' strap you have used is a major cause of eye injuries in here in Australia.

  • Thanks for the advice, I have added a disclaimer right into the video.

  • umm idk if you will read this but i made nearly an exact replica of the OGRE even in size but when i shoot out a tennis ball it only shoots like 14 feet what did i do wrong?

  • hmm... shoot me a message and I will send you some tips on how to improve it. Better if you send me pics so I can take a look, no reason why we cant get your catapult to do better.

  • i am having the same problem. i am using 2 bungee cords on mine though.

  • why do they have different names.......they are the same type!!!!!

  • u might not see the difference in size? Maybe u need to smoke a bit less?

  • are you saying if you plant 2 trees that are the same and one tree is smaller than the other they are not both trees of the same type?
