This song came to me in a dream last week after listening to my 80's collection. It took me a while to remember the lyrics and I had to Google them to find the name of the song. I'm so glad I did! I remember exactly where I was when I first heard it. I was laying on the living room floor listening to my boombox and I taped it. LOL. Great song!
I met van back okla city back in the 70s he Love the Lord, he was in a in small group that sang Gospel there were 3 of them Bobby Springfeld John Emitt. He and I became good frends Van and John and my self rented a town house in Franklin Tenn out side of Nashvill it was a good time in my life we all knew the Lord I wish could have said good by to him.,we lost track of each other over the years. He was A great frend and know I well see him some day... Thank"s Ronnie
This whole album was one of my favorites crusin' in my Camaro Z28!! He was definitely an underrated artist taken from us way too soon! Thanks for the great tunes and great memories!
great song!! and the video was cool in the day...never here this on any 80's retrospects, you here 'flock of sea gull' every weekend but never this..go figure?
Great song that i remember after all these years, even though they don't play it on the radio...why not!!! I just tried to buy this on Itunes and no luck....great song, thanks for sharing it. I'm very sad he had to fight cancer, it's a hard way to go.
Very original lyric hook, that's really unforgettable!
i was a Disc Jockey at our High School Radio Station in the 80's, I always loved this song and i knew who the artist was, but this was really the only big song from him that i ever heard. i always wondered why we never heard from him again. it was a passionate song and he did it so well.
Sweet it's 2010 I was sitting wondering, damned wish I knew who sang this song I had recorded off radio onto cassette in the 80's,then lost, was miss-spelling Delilah on google and never found anything, decided to look up the spelling in Judges of Samson & Delilah in the Bible, then googled it,man what an awesome classic & watched the video few times after finding it here.Didn't realize that Van was also member of wicked country group Blackhawk & was the one who died, huge fan of them as well.. RIP!!
stepdw01....david? the girl across the street in 7 hills has lost gail's email address. if you see this tell her to email me windshadow29@gmail. I had a dream about him a couple of weeks ago. and he wasn't dismantling my bicycle in the creek!! shaun
This song just popped into my head for no apparent reason at work today. I couldn't even remember the artist..I just vaguely remember the album cover. Lol.
Love this song. I remember in 1984 I was working in the color darkroom at Kent State as a photo student, hearing it on the radio at the same time as Nik Kershaw's "Wouldn't It Be Good" so I always associate the two songs together.
stepdw01 sorry to hear Van passed away, 47 is way too early.
Hey! I think the drummer there is Mike Baird -- the guy who drummed once for Journey (along with American Idol's Randy Jackson on bass.) Either the audio/video sync is way off here or Mike had no clue as to the tempo of this song ;-)
I am Van's younger brother. I know he would appreciate that you like his music. I remember those early years flying back and forth from Nashville to LA. He told me a story of being at a party in LA and tripped on a carpet and landed up in Robin Williams lap. Robin said "people are always falling all over me". Oh well, Van loved life and was not ready to leave. Fought his cancer till the end.
@stepdw01 Sorry for your loss truly. Maybe we are related as we have the same last name!! Contact me me if u wish. Van was so talented best wishes to u and ur family
@stepdw01 i used to have this song in a tape in the middle 80 s ..well this tape was lost... but the melody of this songs remained in my mind for over 20 years... i had no idea who was the singer the band and all that..and tonight i remembered it again and i just wrote on google'' she loves you like a lion, leave you like a lamb'' and finally i heard it again after 20 years dude.. one this i can say is RESPECT.. ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER!
Dann Huff rocks on this video! Loved this song and the whole band. Van was such a good singer. On the back of the album cover are pictures of all of the players.
Great guy, you can tell by looking at him. Shows you that melanoma can strike anyone. God rest his soul! His music with Blackhawk was timeless, this great song was only the beginning. God bless the 80's and Van.
He was such a BABYDOLL!!! Check out Blackhawk's "Goodbye Says It All"!! That video is so funny to me. Van's a little older, and he's STILL a BABYDOLL!!
Blackhawk did an ablum called love and gravity, he completely changes his look for this album, it really made him look younger then he was.. Im not sure if seen him during that time or not
hoosierscot, it's over to the right, with "Delilah's" in pink in background! Man was this THE video in 84 or what! I loved this song and never forgot it for 20+ yrs. I was soooo glad when I actually found it on here. It took a couple of months but YT came through!!!
Almost on cue, this song would always find its way to my radio when I cut work and took a drive down the shore to Seaside Heights, NJ. As I listen, the windows in my Blazer are down, it's warm outside, I've got my 1985 girlfriend next to me, and the warm breeze is going gently through my hair. It doesn't get any better than that.
I was in Cosmatology school when this came out, and it was pretty much our theme song! What a trip in time..whenever I mention this song, it's like no one remembers it but ME!
Nice to know others DO know and love it.Thank you!
