The fact is Mer's mom never got the point: anyone could be good, and even extraordinary at their job with some strenuous work, but to be really really extraordinary at being a good human being in relationships (significant others-friends & family) it takes an extraordinary person who is LIFELONG dedicated to their loved ones- willing to sacrifice & at times(not always) put your needs on the back burner & sometimes humble yourself & swallow your pride to help your friends with their shizz.

You have to find someone who believes in you and trust them. No one deserves to be abused physically or emotionally, especially by a parent who shouldn't be one. Support groups are out there ... sometimes parents have their own issues and don't realize what they are doing, or how they're reacting to their own kids. Many parents never get training or help when they need it. Don't absorb it - get your own help and survive, then thrive!
