  • 20th century boys is handsdown the best manga i have ever read... only watched the first movie which was a small dissapointment... but i've been watching monster on netflix!! almost done! DIE JOHAN. plz no spoilers lol

  • I finished the manga, then finished the movies...I died a little inside, since now what am I supposed to do with my life when I finished something so epic!!!!

  • @XamdaJoker

    Totally true.

  • Im reading the manga im at the 8 volume and well im loving it.The characters are the best ones i have seen in a manga, the storytelling its creative and its all wrapped up and it makes you think. every time i come here to hear this song, the top comment increases by one like or two. Soon ill come back to like that comment, to unite with the ones that have completed this, to unite

the people that know what this song means for the history,to unite with the ones that want to take back our symbol.

  • Asobimashou

  • Saying that this song is great enough to save the world is like Cowboy Bebop calling itself the work that created a new genre: it's not a boast when it's true.

  • Anyone can tell me where I can find an mp3 download for this?

  • the best song i've heard... not like a fucking song from K-On i think...

  • AWESOME....!!!!! JUST PLAIN AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Gutalala.... Sudalala... can relief in my heart

  • T________________________________T

  • Such an underrated manga /:

  • @PedroMont32 acutally y read it becasue in my anime list it was rated as the second best manga of the word

  • @DmcDampe Its good to know that, but what i mean is that not many people know it, is not as popular as Naruto or Fairy Tail, being this manga a LOT better

  • And this is why Naoki Urasawa is my hero.

  • La mejor canción de la historia

  • This series made me realize how important music is to our lives.

  • Started reading Billy Bat today, it's shaping up to be pretty great.

  • I can't decide if I like 20CB or Monster better... It's like choosing between your children. They're both that awesome.

  • I love this song and the manga too

  • I want the version of the song that was in the film trilogy,

is the the same one? Because somehow, they it doesnt sound the same :(

If anyone could help I'd be so grateful :)

  • When the gutalala sudalala part came, tears ran down my cheeks :') <3

  • Thumbs up if you read/re-read the manga while listening to this

  • Pluto is the proof of this man's greatness - watch the two episode adaptation of the same Astro Boy story arc (it's on youtube!) from the cartoon, then compare with what he did with Pluto. He turned the most mundane of shounen story arcs into a noir thriller masterpiece.

Monster and 20th Century Boys only confirm this further, of course.

  • Read both 20th Century Boys and Monster.

Can't decide which one is better though.

But they're both my favorite mangas.

  • @ZombieandKing Same here. Urasawa's just a great story-teller and artist. I wished I could draw like him.

  • This is that Athena's Saints never have... a song

  • This> Poo > Naruto

  • I know that I can only vote once but ... I just can't stop pressing the like button .__.

  • Now I know how to beat the AntiChrist

  • @emanresu81 You can't. Cause I am. And frickin love this manga. We'll both use the same song rofl

  • I was kind of feeling down today until my friend linked me to this. It makes me want to read the entire manga again.

  • The song that saved the world.

  • @AngerAvenger why??

  • thsi manga and the movie.. is awesome.. I like very much.. :-)

  • is this bob lennon or naoki urasawa whos singing?=

  • @HikaruMangaProject Bob Lennon is the name of the song. Urasawa-sama is singing.

  • @HikaruMangaProject Bob Lennon is not a person, it is the title of the song. It is named this way because it is supposedly a rip off of Bob Dylan and John Lennon.

  • One of the most underrated talents I've ever seen.

The fact that Viz (apparently) will never finish getting Monster on DVD is just another unfortunate chapter in Urasawa's history of not getting the recognition he MORE than deserves.

How this man and his works can go so largely unnoticed for this long....

How can ANYONE look at Monster, and not see the nearly unparalleled masterpiece that Urasawa has created? Even dubbed, most people never heard of it.

Not as "brilliant" as Naruto, I guess....

  • @EnkaiNami Naruto doesn't even deserve to be mentioned here.

  • @EnkaiNami I agree. Naruto sucks when compared to more intelligent and profound works like Urasawa's.

  • @EnkaiNami actually i think 20th century is even better than monster :/ how can people not read this !

  • @EnkaiNami Maybe world wide, in japan he's considered a national treasure.

  • @punims True, but I hear that despite the accolades, his stuff doesn't sell very well/isn't popularly known of even in Japan.

  • @EnkaiNami Oh well Quality Manga for Quality People :)

  • @EnkaiNami yup, monster is probably among the best psychological genre anime.

  • @EnkaiNami

Well it's not taht of a surprise. Monster and 20CB are both seinen (18-34 years old) manga and Naruto, Bleach... are shounen (13-18 years old). So with that in mind, world wide comics aand cartoons are considered childish and most kids when they hit highschool watch them less or don't watch them at all. And most anime aimed for non Japan audiences are shounen. But in Japan older people read manga too, hence seinen genre. I bet in Japan Urasawa is legend like Tezuka.

  • WOWW I want this Mp3 so bad

    How could I get it???

  • This saturdays there's going to be held an anime/manga event in my city and I'm going cosplaying as Friend >: D

  • I never ever cry with any story, comic, movie book, but I just shed some tears with the ending of this manga, easily the best manga out there.

  • just finished!epic manga-epic song

  • I especially like the cover of the final volume where it shows Friend and Kenji side by side. It sends chills down my spine...

  • Everytime I hear this song and look at the pictures I feel something nostalgic inside of me.

  • @TerranigmArk Same here. I remember all the great moments that happened in this series and the song adds only more strength to the powerful messages the story tells us.

  • Pretty good... but I kind of wanted his voice to not be so pretty... like Kenji's.. :/

  • @HeteroBoy Yeah, that's true. In the manga they say Kenji's singing voive is pretty crappy, but in this version the singing is smooth and awesome.

  • @HeatLegs Yeah, I'm not trying to be all negative, but i was hoping for rougher. Maybe even dylanesque. Ah well.

  • @Heterokid Yeah, me too. But I still like it.

  • @HeatLegs Word to your llama.

  • @HeatLegs Haha, it was "crappy" at first, have you heard the earlier versions? :p

  • is Monster as epic as 20th century boy?

  • @DrawineeProductions It depends on if you like psycho thrillers. Have you tried reading Pluto?

  • @Hartigan46 I read it already

  • @DrawineeProductions I personally enjoyed Monster more, but in terms of scale it doesn't even compare to 20th Century Boys. Monster is a much smaller and more compact story.

  • the best thing i have read in my entire life

a perfect masterpiece,Naoki Urasawa is literally a freaking genius / god...

amazing characters, awesome plot, best end in a manga ever...

  • one of the best story i ever read in all of my fucking life

  • cry T.T

  • I finished this manga yesterday, I think is the best Seinen I have ever read (Death Note, Paranoia Agent and Gantz are pretty good too), and listen to this song in the last pages of 21st Century Boys it's a feeling that I can't express with words, but it's awesome.

So thank you Naoki Urasawa for this week of enjoyment and (for me) the feeling of thinking what really matters: the possibility of change ourselves and caring our people.

  • @Setzelk999 Death Note is Shounen. /nitpick Also, if you haven't read Naoki Urasawa's Monster or Pluto yet, you should. Everything he makes is great.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNamekianClown Sry, that was a shared account, I erased it, as I said: You're right about Death Note, but I still consider it like Seinen (dont know why), and yes, I'm thinking seriously about read Pluto (I've watched like 10 episodes of Monster but I left it).

  • @Setzelk999 No need to erase it. Just a random nitpick like I said.

  • they all were a 20th century boy, but... eventually they all grew up to be 20th century men.;)

  • @Boss2Frog deep man :D

  • there is an extra 16 chapters that ends it better "21st century boys" still by urisawa ^^

  • @ianhellrazer It's not ending it better, 21st Century Boys is still the same manga.

It is THE actual ending to 20th Century Boys, just released under a different title.

  • Well now, I'm impressed! The man that wrote my favorite manga (Monster) is also a musician. That's so cool! I'll also get around to reading 20th Century Boys someday, but for now, I want to finish Monster.

  • The evolution of Kenji as a character was one of the most awesome changes ever!!!!

He proves that normal people can change a lot, not only itself but everybody

  • I just finished it....my god this is my most favorite manga ever now. Though the ending was kinda disappointing. There were alot of unexplained things too, such as why Kenji didn't die and got up like it was nothing when he got shot that one time, how Kamisama got his ability of foresight, or how Kanna and Fukube were able to bend spoons and communicate with others telepathically. But whatever, it was an appropriate way to end the series.

  • @HeatLegs As I understand it, Kenji was shot but not fatally, and was standing out of willpower.

I don't think Fukube ever actually had powers. I think he was faking them the whole time.

As to Kamisama, no explanation is provided. and Kana, she was injected with lots of stuff while in the womb so she mutated somehow, I think that was the explanation. She and Kamisama were the only ones to actually have powers.

  • They got Kanna's hair perfect.

  • Urasawa san is a great mangaka period...

  • justice never dies.

  • I wish I could find Urasawa, and personally thank him for this story. What this story showed me, is that anything can happen, good times go as fast as they come back, and anyone can do something incredible.

Also, I always wondered what the point of the "gu ta la la" bits and pieces were for. Now I think that they are meant to destroy the language barrier, even though I can't speak Japanese, I can sing those parts, and I can sort of feel that connection.

  • Greater than original one :)

    Or not.

  • Urasawa is not just a kickass awesome Mangaka but he rocks as well as a singer. I love the goddamned guy so much...

  • 勁喜歡呢個版本

  • Urasawa is a god.

I will never forget how this story touched my heart.

I will never, ever, put down my guitar.

And I am now, and forever will be, a man of justice.

  • lol manga is genraly black and white unless some one colors them in like these have been

  • Mine aren't in colour! :(

  • i think the japanese did a great job on the movie.. hard to believe hollywood would do any better... just look wad they did to the harry potter series... ugh.

  • @batkuttehlover

Hollywood turned the Harry Potter movieseries into an unrecognizable, irreversable mess. the books are WAY better. the first two films were amazing and truly captured the feeling and atmosphere of the books, third one was okay, but after that it all went to crap. the newer films are badly butchered, abridged versions of the books. anyone who watched the fifth film and didn't read the book it was based on were completely lost as to what was going on. it took out IMPORTANT plot points

  • @batkuttehlover Why would you even relate 20th Century Boys to Harry Potter... Honestly...

  • got romanize lyric for this?

  • Please tell me where can i find this song in a downloadable mp3 format! I love it!!!

  • go to beemp3, type in bob lennon

  • just rip it off youtube

  • LMAO product placement.

  • @iamnibee no from the manga called 20th century boys hence the manga scans in the video

  • your kidding right?

  • lmfao...wayne brady

  • I like this

  • Yeah. I don't think japan can produce a movie close to the manga in quality. Holywood would've done better.

  • really, 20th century boys manga is a masterpiece. the story is very well written, the plot is amazing, the flow of scenarios is flawless. i mean, it is top class.

  • that's beautiful only thing missing is the lyrics translation

  • kenji <3

  • I literally just spent 29 hours reading this manga non-stop from start to end. No, I'm not exaggerating and yes I'm fucking tired.

  • so did i XD sept i passed out just as i finished it xD urasawa is a genius

  • @InakoOwns that is what i call dedication and its a little different from the movies so why not rite??

  • @pikachufan12 I never saw the movies. I probably should though. LOVE the manga. How're the movies different?

  • @InakoOwns there are a couple of obvious differences like during bloodyy new years eve the movie has thing whole like fighting scene trying to take down the robot, and the manga does not and i hear its an alternate ending

  • @pikachufan12 Sweet, I have to check those out!

  • @InakoOwns but still if u pay attention there a some small differences

  • @pikachufan12 Sweet, I have to check those out!

  • @InakoOwns oh yeah and reading on the vloody new years scene is later in a story told by otcho and god

  • @InakoOwns You're not the only one. I started reading around 7 pm last night, and didn't stop till 6 am in the morning. I didn't know there was an extra 2 volumes with a different title, so I slept so badly because I thought that was the end. >_<

  • @dragonzair I learned about that before I started, so I was good. I started reading at maybe 8:00 P and finished a little before noon the next day.

    I couldn't

    stop

    READING.

  • if i ever have to make a last stand against evil i want this song playing in the background somehow, lol

  • True that.

  • I find that listening to this song with any of his work fits well. I'm listening to it with Monster...and it's rather enjoyable, in my opinion.

  • reading the manga while listening to this song.

  • me too!

  • OMAIGOD!! Someone post mp3 link for this song please... D:

  • reading the manga... didn't expect bob lennon to be this awesome but it is

  • The story of 20th Century Boys is a hundred times better than those seen in Hollywood movies. I remember spending hours and hours just reading the manga with no stop.

    5/5

  • @Zero3026 What about the Japanese movies ;p

  • Justice never dies!

  • As soon as the Gutalala Sudalala's kicked in I got goosebumps!

  • A fantastic song for a fantastic manga

  • ...when a person is singing YOU DON'T SHOOT HIM!

  • No... they're... they're called Hippes.

  • @MorgySpain What are you, retarded? Of course people can shoot you when your singing.

  • @senken15 He says YOU DON'T SHOOT HIM, not YOU CAN'T SHOOT HIM. You should read 20th Century Boys.

  • @Kirblu I did, after words shinji says something to the effect of 'Of course he can shoot you, you idiot.'

  • @senken15 Lol, that's true.

  • does anybody know where i can find the first pic used in this video? Please!

  • Is this version actually performed by Urasawa?

  • yeah. Urasawa has it on his album called Half Century Man...but that's a translation.

  • Oh, cool. I wasn't sure, since this version is in a much higher key than the lalala.

    He has a beautiful voice.

  • Really unexpected IMO. I thought it would be passable at best and then i heards this...and i was like "the hell? since when did manga artists have so many talents?"

  • Beautiful.

  • Fantastic! A spoiler-free Bob Lennon that I can share with my friends!

Thanks for posting it up! I have been addicted to this song recently.

  • are there any downloads for this song out there? this version specifically

  • I think I just orgasmed a little.

  • Urasawa FTW.

  • BEST . FUCKING . MANGA . EVER . MADE .

    nuff said

  • The popular mangas f today are runing mangas rep, (Ie. Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, etc...) Many people think anime is stupid and childish because of those mangas that only god knows why are popular. Urasawa is amazing...

I didn't expect the song to actually be good ^- ^

But coming from a manga like 20th Century Boys... how could it not be good?

  • you know, ive been reading Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, etc...for a while, but after watching and reading 20 century boys...i don't know....they don't have much of their flair anymore.......im not saying that they're bad....just not as great as i thought. and another thing, they are changing the manga's rep. i don't know if for better or worse, but old mangas are a lot more different....centered more around the story that the action, you know?

  • Are you meaning 20th with 'old'? Because it ended only two years ago and started later than OP xD

  • the thing is, Urasawa Naoki is a good friend with legendary manga artist Tezuka Osamu. I think he was a student of Tezuka's too. His type of manga was probably heavily influenced by Tezuka. Tezuka, having written "Atom", as well as a crapload of other great series in the eighties-nineties-ish time, probably gave Urasawa a very retro touch to his manga style. It's obvious when you compare 20th with Bleach. There aren't any ten-chapter-fight scenes.

  • It's also another type of Manga... It's not the same a shônen than a seinen manga, their own objectives and public are totally different. Also, a mistery manga focusses itself about its history while a battle manga aims to great fight scenes. Though Tite Kubo particularly wastes a lot of space in his chapters, but that's not my point xD.

The case is, Urasawa is awesome along with his style, but so are other series of other kinds from another viewpoint ^^ So I agree with you partially.

  • (However, I have to say I don't like Tezuka's works, so all of you might want to crucify me for that or stuff xDD)

  • WHAT!? oh well, each to his own. anyway, i was reading 20th while listening to this song and i get to a part where this song gets played on the radio. it was AWESOME. i felt like i was acutally there, listening to the music with everyone else. and when Urasawa started singing the gutalala part, kenji started singing that on the next page! it was epic! is it a sign?

  • I think the same...20th century boys is like mm...OLD BOY... , and Naruto , well like Fast and furius, 20th century boys is The Doors and Naruto mmm....Britney Spears...

  • Among those three, IMO only One Piece is still awesome... More awesome than ever, I'd say. Naruto went down since Shippuden (I know it exists just in the anime, I'm referring to when they're older) and Bleach is currently letting me down week after week. However, I wouldn't say they're ruining anything, neither. Shonen is shonen and seinen is seinen, that's all there is.

I read 20thCB in three days or so, it was just incredible xD. Though I prefer Monster a bit... only a little bit xDD

  • but...it is true that they are changing the "manga rep". im a 2nd generation japanese american and my parents told me that the current manga is not the original type of manga that came out before...and personally, compared to 20th century boys...the other ones just aren't as good. 20th century boys is actually pretty current, but the author is a friend of osamu tezuka, so it has a retro feel.

  • i saw the 3rd movie!!!!!! i cried when it was the last scene

  • 20th century boys sound track has those songs !!

  • Does anyone know where I can buy these songs? I've heard three versions so far and each one of them has this hold on me, I just have to get them. But I can't seem to find them? Or am I just looking in the wrong places?

  • You can find the 20th Century Boys soundtracks (all 3 volumes) on YesAsia or cdJapan website.

  • Thanks!! You're a peach! :D

  • es fleje molongui,Charles

    *XDDDDDDDDDD
