Hey man I'm very very interested in how you made the heads and the trigger platforms inside the shells. I would like to make my own from a Gretsch kit I have just collecting dust, but I will leave the shells full size and convertible back to acoustic by swapping heads and removing the triggers. My idea is a trigger platform that mounts inside on the lug bolts for 4 of the lugs, a vibration isolation material to mount the trigger plate, and to convert the existing air-hole to a 1/4" jack.
you may be clever enough to have converted the kit, however holding it up with springs was a bit of a failure :P and also, the audio has been disabled as an extra failure :P
I came to listen, and I was greeted with a Notice under your video "This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG. The audio has been disabled. More about copyright"
He EXPLAINED he's using a special platform to suppress noise. You spent thousands on a kit he was able to build himself, proud? And still, when you use the kick you'll make noise on the floor, he won't. Seems like a good idea to me...
Cool video dude. I've been searching all over Youtube and the web for Toontrack drum sample demonstrations 'cause I'm looking to use that for my own DIY acoustic-to-electric conversion. Good stuff!
Yeah Toontzrack is awesome. I'd never go back anywhere else. Unfortunately you can't here those sample very well under the oasis tune, but check out their website, that's pretty mouch how it sounds.
I can't say for sure, cause I have only tried one in the shop. But I'd say it feels absolutely the same, except I have problems getting the rims to work. Sometimes they won't respond (All my drums have rims enabled). Will have to figure it out someday
I'm building one too, so the mine will be like a Roland's PD-120. How did you build the shell, rim ?. What kind of drumhead are you using ? Is there some site or forum teaching how to build a edrum's pad ? I always visit the edrum[dot]for[dot]free[dot]fr. Do you know others? Thanks
I don't understand. Why would putting the bar higher help anything? Also I cannot put the basedrum against the wall because the drumset has to be isolated from wall or floor. That's the whole idea about the noise canceling thing.
Nice to see some ingenuity here. Great drumming too. I'm curious about your DIY methods. I have a TD12 I'm keen to experiment with adding some extras to :-)
The shaking of the kit would look WAY cool as part of a video clip to an original song too!
Thanks! Great to get some response. drummerforum de is a great site to get DYI input. Unfortunately it's in German. You should also check out derksens com

Do you sometimes get sea-sickness symptoms when you play?
When you step off the platform do you have a "I just touched down with an elevator" feeling? hehe
Since the song has been disable, I can only comment on the visual...

What song is this by the way?
Great work
Lieutenantsexmachine 4 years ago
The song is "Part of the Cueue" by Oasis. It's main melody is from "Golden Brown" by The Stranglers. Nice track.

9 foam cubes and a very heavy pressboard plate on top.

Hi
I wrote a whole article about the process. Unfortunately it's in German. If you can read it I'll post it somewhere.
I sawed all the Toms of my Basix set in 2 parts, painted them and added the electronics. The heads are Roland meshes.
Some good sites in English:
derksens[dot]com/Beatnik_mirror[dot]htm (The Best!!!)
mikemx3000[dot]tripod[dot]com
vdrums[dot]com
drummerforum[dot]de (The Best Forum but in German)
Good luck!

why your drum is so shaked???
dariosmit 4 years ago
Because it ROCKS! *lol*

i would suggest, that you put the bassdrum to the wall, so you can screw this bar of the e drumset higher..and there is no more shaking
sPiNcH 4 years ago
I don't understand. Why would putting the bar higher help anything? Also I cannot put the basedrum against the wall because the drumset has to be isolated from wall or floor. That's the whole idea about the noise canceling thing.
