The girl, Cheri, I believe was supposed to be what the Riley character from Season 2 was. Thanks to the writer's strike, the actress who played Cheri signed on for a different short lived TV show, and was not available for Season 2.

So many missed opportunities from this show. I hope whoever makes T5 is listening to the fans. Meanwhile, more and more people are discovering this show for the first time.

This was a really nice scene.

The subplot was supposed to be this school conspiracy that I'm guessing involved some students not ratting out a naughty counsellor and John eventually uncovers it and stands up for the students showing his natural leadership skills.

The writers strike interrupted Season One and they dropped this subplot to move forward. I see it all as John is in so much danger and he could never conclude his school life and has to drop things because he was born to run.

My guess on this scene is that they wanted to use Kate Brewster on the show. Cherri was her alias and she lives her life like John. She was hunted by terminators in the past and bounces from 1 school to the next. Who the guy in class was is a mystery. But it could be her protector terminator like how John has Cameron, who also tries to break up his relationships so that no one else is involved.

I guess we'll never know since she was dropped for Riley and Jess in S2 and there is no S3. :(

Good theory, but since John, Sarah and Cameron jumped forward in time, wouldn't Kate be several years older than John? Too old to still be in high school, definitely.

Yep...definitely Cheri Westin, she was supposed to be in a larger part of the storyline, but as you can see some scenes involving her had been deleted.
