LOL, that is SO CUTE. :) There are a lot of Labs that were born loving the water, but we also had to teach ours to swim. It seemed kind of futile until she saw a duck in a pond one day and flew in before she realized it was water. :)

I have a retriever, and in his 5 years he never, but I really mean never went to the water without someona making him do it. He's just not a water-dog (which is weird because they should be good dogs for hunting on water). But, whatever, I still make bath him. :D

I also have a lab an there aint no chance of me stopping him from jumping in ANY kind of water, he just loves it all he even the bath (unlike my mother's yorkie) lol....basically if there's water around he's in it lol.

Wonderful ending! We have a Lab that refuses to even try! Living in Wisconsin we only have three months where it is viable to swim.We take him weekly to the lake near our home and he just paces and whines for us to come out. Wonder what makes a water breed not take to water? Maybe because we waited a year before he was offered a chance. Just flat out refuses. Way to go Jack!!

i have never seen a lab afraid of water but what is really awesome is that you can see you love your dog and didnt just push her in, Jack jumped in due to thinking you were in trouble, its a great technique to getting a scared dog in water....Lab=loyal

My Lab (9yrs. old now) loves to swim. Cant stop him to jump into the River. Doesnt even matter if its Winter at minus 10°C and if there is ice on the River he does the "Icebreaker" and warms up himself later at he fireplayce at home. Hope he will stay that healthy for long time....... he is just beside me now and is chewing on a pigs ear......yumm yumm

My parents' lab doesn't like swimming, either. I'm not certain if it's because we got her at the end of summer, and she didn't see the pool until almost a year later, or if it's the smell of the chemicals in the water. I don't think there's a lab alive that doesn't instinctively know HOW to swim, but some of them don't seem to prefer it.

I had a yellow lab like that. his name was Hondo, and he was a "defective" lab. Its what my girl friend called him, because he never wanted to jump in the pool or river or anything wet for that matter. Had to find him a home, when we had to foreclose. I miss my Hondo. and if anyone who has a lab. Please take care of them.
