  • to all the people that have been replying to my comment that this saved my life, it did save my life. and yes i hear this album is quite dark and gloomy but i find it comforting since i am a dark and gloomy person myself.

It is kind of like listening to a person complain about something and then you find that you feel the same way... Eventhough that person is talking angry stuff you can relate so it brings you closer to that person. i guess that is how i feel when i listen to this album.

    :)

  • Beautiful place indeed. :)

  • Still number 1# on CD - not every day you hear something like a

Slow breakbeat and ambient coctail. Oh, yes you do, if you listens to Boards of Canada.

  • @Bleepmap they've got fucking analogues in their psyche.

  • LOL I LIKE TYPE GOODLY ABOUT STUFF ON THINGS NOW HI

  • @BarakaObama2012 WTF? Was that supposed to be sarcastic? I HAVE NOT ANY THE AN IDEA WHAT U SAY.

  • Now THIS is music!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! THE PRODUCTION ON THIS IS CRAAAAZZZZZYYY-SICK!!

  • @classy1973 I don't even understand how to cook with syrup. WHYYY? DDX

  • either im insane already and dnotn realize it or i just find BOC so relaxing and amazing that i feel so close to the truth when i ask God something about art and music and even about life. i think im going coocoo! LOL. oh well i took the red pill so im glad jesus told to take the red ill cause the truth shall set you free aint that what he said? LOL! just kiddingguys im not insane im just not normal! LOL

  • @AlainValdivia red pill? sudafed? MOLLY IS THAT YOU?!

  • Sounds like Estonian in some parts ... or am I mistaken? Obviously, my trip is to hear familiar (almost forgotten) language of my childhood...

  • aueuuiookksssiiyiiiajhyu

  • With or without drugs, this song is pretty excellent.

  • what BoC album would be the most appropriate for my upcoming Acid trip? I know some of their albums had a more eery and less happy atmosphe than the others (this one for example)

So which album(s) is/are the most chill, uplifting in your opinion?

  • @TheTramsen The Campfire Headphase is definitely their most laid back and friendly album, i would go with that if you want an easier experience.

  • @TheTramsen

a clear mind, free from drugs, is the best music

  • @RedKhandro i concourd! shoot is that how you speell it? LOL

  • @TheTramsen I just find it interesting the different outlooks by ppl. To me Geogaddi is their darkest album yet still extremely chilled/relaxing ( some of those little interlude songs are almost depressing to me). All the hidden messages, backmasking, old/scratchy textures & sound design and droning synths etc. MHTRTC I wouldn't say is as dark, because some of the songs on that album feel more positive imo. Campfire is the type of album that is amazing on bush walks while the sun is setting.

  • @Jez4prez oh wait just realised you agree that geogaddi has a more eery and less happy feel. I guess you can disregard what I said haha. I'll go with Campfire Headphase.

  • Im baked right now and i enjoy this track

  • Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Byyyye.

  • very bright and visually impairing. like trying to regain ones eyesight after staring at the sun for too long... or those hypnotizing scenes caused when the chop at the waters surface refracts incoming sun light, creating a dancing frenzy of bouncing sun-rays under the water....

  • this cd saved me from a panic attack during an lsd trip, i owe my life to this

  • @ardotadot Um, a question if you don't mind. I don't take LSD so I can't vouch for your personal experience, but as much as I love this album I find it dark and even scary in places. Maybe you don't, but wouldn't music like this enhance your panic? I find a lot of BoC's music to be something out of a feverish dream: snippets of distorted voices, unearthly harmonies and restless beats. Frankly, I hope I never hear this music when I'm in bed with a 105-degree fever...or on LSD. Thoughts?

  • @amadeus5889 that was my first and last LSD trip. I can see why people might find this music scary but i find this album quite peaceful. The snippets of distorted voices sound like my childhood memories, the unearthly harmonies and restless beats just help me get into a hypnagogic state where my head just stops thinking and my heart starts reminiscing. I should also add im a bit of a "grim" person so this sound kind of suits my personality.

  • @ardotadot I understand. My apologies: I hope I didn't sound judgmental. Thanks for the input. I really do love this music but I personally am unsettled by "Geogaddi". Compared to "Music Has the Right to Children" and "The Campfire Headphase" it's emotionally challenging for me. Reminds me of when I took depression medication during high school and had hallucinations, insomnia and night terrors while my body got used to the medication.

  • @amadeus5889 No need to apologize. I have no problem talking about my past, i dont do drugs anymore. I too took a lot of depression medication after that LSD trip but instead of marking that dark phase in my life with boards of canada i listened to other artists that i cant stand to listen to these days because they remind me of those awful times. Taking meds for depression is hard, is what im saying. I completely understand what you mean.

  • @ardotadot Yes, it is hard, taking medication. In retrospect, I don't think I was even depressed: I was just a teenager dealing with typical angst and I didn't have an outlet, so some head shrink slapped a label on my forehead and handed me a bottle of pills that matched said label. We are an over-medicated society. Music is the only medication a person will ever need. It sets you free.

  • @ardotadot i wonder how

  • @ardotadot I'd think this CD would get rough

  • @ardotadot And by life, you mean your immediate comfort? LOL. Stil cool though, Boards is definitely trippin' music.

  • @ardotadot . Hey if you can't handle an lsd , then maybe you should go to LDS church. lol

  • @GirlsLie7 :)

  • There are flowers exploding in my brain

  • this song is what turned me onto Boards of Canada!

  • Reminds me of Phantasy Star Online

  • I love the way they work the vocals at the end.

  • beutifull place, the plane of a real nice place

  • Am I the only one who thinks of a room filled with TV monitors with live feeds of Security Camera footage being displayed on them?

Sort of like a "Big Brother" typed situation...

Especially when I hear the voices that start at 4:47.

  • i have met maybe 3-4 people in my life that listened to boards before me, and many, many people that ive made listen to boards because of me.

  • I've been a BoC fan for years now, and I've only just noticed that the kaleidoscopic image on the album art for this album depicts people standing around a tiny planet made of hills and trees.

  • @Beck436 hmmmm ........ i never noticed that either ........neat.

  • love to all

  • is the background moving? or is that just me...

  • Melophelia setting in... ahh.

    I love BoC <3

  • i really think they interpreted the title extremely well into the music. each layer in the track can be seen as infrared waves, UV waves etc... all those strange sounds represent a part of the waves the sun sends out. just my 2 cents :P

  • One of my fave BoC tracks

  • smoke weed everyday..

  • @raShemecit wouldnt have it any other way

  • Awesome song

  • I have run into BoC listeners in real life.

They tend to be pretty cool.

  • BasementBeginnings and skateboardingkid96 are totally ruining the mellow for me...I'm gonna stop reading youtube comments, dammit. That's such a downer, and on such an awesome, relaxing song. Goddamn humans...>_>

  • I'm always waiting for 4:04 that sample sounds so fucking cool

  • human conciouness defines reality !! none of this realy exists !!

  • @Intelectual95 if you were that smart you'd know how to spell "intellectual" (and "actually" and "real")

And Avenged Sevenfold are Guns 'n' Poses wannabes. Pussy metal

  • this is reall nerd bleepy bloop shit...

u want real music listen avenged sevenfold - a band that can actualy play there instruments without a computer program doin it for them...

dont bother trying to prove me wrong, i have IQ 170 i took a test so im smarter than you and i am right anwyay sooo....

  • @Intelectual95 HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH. You sound so arrogant. Your name is the opposite of what your comment just was.

  • Comment removed

  • @Intelectual95 id laugh if someone here had a 172 lol...but if going by what your saying im pretty sure you would be depressed to hear even most of their music is changed and distorted before it goes on cd man besides music is music accept different tastes or remain a blind deaf mute

  • @Intelectual95 Lmao. Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @Intelectual95 It's getting obvious.. 3the time is see this. Old troll is old.

  • why is none of this music on the radio, is mainstream music so simple and plain this isn't better than beiber

  • @skateboardingkid96 You can't even spell the name Bieber correctly. Go back to listening to that you little shit, and don't bother replying to this post. You don't deserve posting here.

  • Comment removed

  • @skateboardingkid96 "Probably fat and lonely". Did you bet money on that assumption? And well done on saying that you'll spell his name however you want - it still makes it just as wrong, and still makes you just as retarded. No, adding your ignorance to that, you just went full retard mister Einstein. Christ, people like you man.. posting like you can judge this to be "simple" and "mainstream" - even comparing it to Bieber.. you're a sad, sad man. Go back to your Lady Gaga. I pity you.

  • Comment removed

  • @skateboardingkid96 That's more like it, finally a good and sensible answer. I'm quite satisfied.

  • @skateboardingkid96 Shut the fuck up, you're embarassing yourself.

God, how do these cunts end up even in BoC vids?

  • Comment removed

  • @skateboardingkid96 Yes. Sooo much of my precious time was wasted on looking for your shitty comment on the 2nd page, lmao.

The little troll who makes unfounded assumptions about people's appearances on the Internet is telling me to chill out and enjoy the video, and to induce my anger into something else? Nice double standards. Uwarranted self importance and butthurt.

  • Comment removed

  • @skateboardingkid96 I'm not trolling, just calling out your idiocy. If you feel you are being trolled, then apparently I've gotten exactly what I wanted. But really, you just looked like the kind of person that needed something said to, and I was correct.

Don't be mad, and please refrain from using my insults. If everyone in this video is flaming you, it is not I who is being embarassed, you pseudo-intellectual twat.

  • Comment removed

  • @skateboardingkid96 Nah, I don't think I will shut up. One, because you don't have authority over me. Two, because you banging your keyboard like an ape is amusing, and gives me something to do. Also, if you didn't care what I think of you then you wouldn't have responded, numbnuts.

I use one big word you don't recognize, and you instantly jump to the conclusion that I'm a douche? Whatever, skateboardingkid96. Go listen to Linkin Park, and hang yourself.

"STOP TALKING TO ME FAG" umad bro?

  • Comment removed

  • @skateboardingkid96 Sure, I accept your surrender. Just don't let it happen again. The last word is always mine.

Remember to take your anti-depressants. XD

  • @skateboardingkid96 PS: u mad.

  • @BasementBeginnings what's up bro? how've you been

  • @skateboardingkid96 enjoyin the summer like i have?

  • @skateboardingkid96 You've quoted yourself.

I'm actually jealous of you now because I can't be in such a state of ignorant bliss like you. ^^

  • Comment removed

  • @skateboardingkid96 The folks are fine, thanks for the concern. How are you coping with being a simian waste of skin?

  • @BasementBeginnings great, i have to shower double for the skin but it's fine. thanks bro good to see you're still doing good

  • @skateboardingkid96 Cool! I accept your pending apology - just don't let it happen again, and I'll completely forget about your existence. May your remaining days be full of rainbows and sunshine, so long as you don't forget to take your antidepressants.

  • @BasementBeginnings You take antidepressents? thats a shame. one love and i'm out

  • @skateboardingkid96 This is a tasty sandwich.

  • @howie094 Simon Howard, you cheeky Naval Seaman. :) xo

  • Deep mindspace

  • They used this in the Stanford Prison Experiment documentary for like a minute. Was pretty fitting.

  • peace to everyone

  • I wanted to buy a sunshine recorder but the cheapest one I could find was about £1300 / $2020

  • does anyone know where to find any boc on vinyl, been such a struggle for me here up in montana. any tips would be great or sites w vinyl for sale. if anyone knows of boc original samples would be awesome, i love finding new ones.

  • @droan999 for vinyl try discogs (with the obvious double u and dot com bits attached). i know a lot of their samples came off of National Film-Board of Canada

  • @droan999 discogs dot com

  • Why can't I ever run into any of you BoC listeners in real life?

  • @amos1262 im starting to think you other boc listeners live on a different planet i mean i have asked so many people. where am i suppose to look ?!

  • @amos1262 we keep it a secret because we don't want anyone to know how weird we are

  • @amos1262 I actually ran into 2 BoC fans during my vacation in San Francisco. That doesn't shock me too much though. They have some of the most creative minds in that city, no wonder they listen to Boards of Canada.

  • @amos1262 they're out there.

  • @amos1262 think of it like the movie highland, for any area code there can only be one!

  • @amos1262

    hehe . . .

we dont relly exist only in the brains of the duo that is the Boards of Canada

  • @amos1262 oh god... THIS. So much.

  • @amos1262

i just got back from a burn (kiwiburn in NZ, to be exact)...

BoC busting out all over the place...

you just need to be around the right people! ,'-)

  • @amos1262 We are too busy standing around with our heads in the clouds. ;)

  • @amos1262 were like diamonds in a sea of sand. ;)

  • @amos1262 Ur lucky to live in a country where there's at least some BoC fans, I live in morocco, and be sure that people there don't even know what is electronica or ambient, every body listens to crappy poppy commercial shit

  • @estreet2007 surely their is some sort of underground scene o_0.

  • @amos1262 I've met at least a few here in London. Ha ha. Always a pleasant surprise.

  • @amos1262 I did a co-op for highschool at HMV and my manager put them on one morning beofre the store was opened. I was all YOU LIKE BOARDS? and hes all YEAHYA SON

  • @amos1262 Recommend to your friends!!! My buddy and I spread the word and now it seems like everyone listens to them!

  • @amos1262 So true... I suppose that's why the internet is a poisoned chalice for some people.

  • thanks to BOC, the future has become a distant memory...

  • It's like I can feel the intense sunshine on me....

  • This song created itself. No human could truly be behind this magic.

  • fuck yeah record that sunshine

i miss hearing their heavy bass lines...these little speakers don't cut it

  • Genius.

  • I totally agree, BOC always reminds me of certain moments and events when i was younger that i don't even remember.

  • Always gives me memories of when i was a kid in the early eighties. I can never quite place where i heard what B.O.C. sample but they always sound familiar somehow.... Memories of more innocent times.

  • @Datathief100

I'm from Canada, so to me the Boards of Canada reference was always clear: "Hinterland Who's Who" vignettes by the National Film Board of Canada. The opening synth line in those videos is pure BoC source material.

  • bye.

  • The highest rated comment really made me notice.

  • Geogaddi is their masterpiece.

  • See how there's no description to this track, well that's because it's something you can't describe, only listen to and feel it, be it...

  • All these commenters are intulectuals :) itsfunny

  • Squishy

  • What the fuck?

  • I saw on another BoC video, someone was saying how Tycho was ripping off BoC and I sort of saw what they meant... doesn't Tycho have a song called Sunshine Projector?... hmmmmmmmmmmm

  • this track is one of my personal beautiful places.

  • the other voice, not beautiful place, but the one that's hard to understand, i think the voice is saying "an evil play on minds". any other thoughts on this?

  • Boards Of Canada is amazing. I was listening to this song while in a car where the roof can go down, i was staring up at the sky while listening to this piece, i was then pondering about life and getting a nostalgic headrush, simply incredible.

  • ive had several night dreams with this song for some reson. excellent song!

  • Transdimentional

  • all of b.o.c. s work makes me feel cold and strange..... but in the good way!

  • Please let there be many more than 21000+ people that have been lucky enough to hear this piece of perfect

  • This helps me get my homework done, big time. D: They should place this throughout the schools.

  • i'm confused.

whats with all this biship beautiful place cult stuff going on? i've been watching boc videos and everyone talking about this...

    fill me in?

  • @marzipin the sample of the voice is from seasame street. its a lil kid talking about his feelings when he is alone, sad, with friends, and when he is in ' a beautiful place" glad i could help. just got on the BoC forum and that was an eye opener, this band is unreal. such a wide array of textures and ancient sample findings. pink floyd drums on happy cycling. wow. thank you boc

  • @marzipin theres backmasked messages in geogaddi mentioning david koresh the leader of a famous armed cult that went to war with the army when they came to their complex and told them to submit.

also the track a beautiful place in the country talks of a religous community in the country

i think BOC just like to see if were easily suggestible and try to make you think their part of a cult lol.i find it all pretty interesting though.i know too much bout BOC sorry bout that

  • @keggg1234 no it's okay, that's exactly what i wanted to know

  • @keggg1234 why are you sorry lol , thats pretty interesting as far as im concerned.

And if you look at some of the comments on BoC videos , dont you find people acting as if theyre part of this special collective?

  • @radioaudiovideo i dont know really. i didnt want to come across as patronising or as if i was looking for an oppurtunity to exhibit knowledge. i find it interesting too, its pretty scary how the mind is so malleable.

yeah i can see that, a particularly pleasant one it seems :)

id like to think it has something to do with their nature orientated/nostalgic aspect of their music.

and of course warp are good at thinking out their marketing.

  • this album and campfire headphase give boards definition

  • @VVVVVVVVVVVVWVVVVVVV how could you forget about music has the right to children??

  • LOL, I never ever paid attention to BoC's 'occult' messages and themes. I fell in love with their music the first time I heard it three years ago, and my thing is tearing it apart in my mind and seeing the math. After I listen to any of their music, I feel uplifted, positive and more focused. It's like a musical Rubix cube for your mind.

  • @tribunalfunk Except it doesn't piss you off lol.
