I played this game called midtown madness 2 about 10 years ago. They had a San Francisco map and I'd always come to this street, drive straight down and trash my car lol
There's a Lombard Street in Philadelphia, but it's not twisty or on a hill.
I still got lost trying to find it. Then this guy with road rage chased me all over Center City, b/c I accidentally cut him off. He chased me all over the place until I finally remembered to pull into a police station.
He was so crazy I thought he'd follow me in, but he left.
When I went to San francisco, we got lost. My Dad was driving and was in a bad mood and then we stumbled across Lombard Street. No way out, and a raging man at the wheel made for a memorable experience. We all feared for our lives!
I wonder what the person who designed that street thought in the morning " oh hey I am going to make the most ridiculous road that will inconvience everyone!"
Angry Aussie mate when i saw the title of this i thought you was commenting on Lombard Street in London uk.. now that street is the crookedest street in the world.. full of bankers and banks!(money meltdown any one? lol)
that's cool. We got a similar street where u have to climb a mountain to get home. Don't worry, that one has stairs (like a million of them) and a cool scenery.
Haha, it DID look like green screen magic when you were in front of Lombard Street. But the background was too realistic for it to be green screened. Glad you had fun in SF, even though the steep hills really do kill you. =P
The comedian Bill Cosby had some legendary things to say about Lombard St. :D
All I'm sure of is that the hills in California have scored off most of the paint and metal from the underside of our front bumper from us driving almost straight down one road into another road which is FLAT! (Pretty sure there are hills out there which are steep enough to flip the car over on its nose)
There are DEFINITELY some of those... Every now and again a limousine gets stuck, which is hilarity! My honda won't climb out of the Marina District on Fillmore or Divisadero in any other gear but first! If I shift, the car pretty much bogs completely down.
It's windy, but not as windy as the roads in the hills in central Europe. Now THAT'S windy as hell. I should know, I had to drive down those things with an old volkswagon.
I love Lombard St.. We were stupid and walked up there street where you have the view of Alkatraz, where the cable cars go up.. It was like murder, we had no cash for the cable car either
If I remember corectly, back in 1980 something my parents tried to drive a motorhome down that because my mom told my dad to do it...I barely remember it, I think Im blocking it out..lol
San Francisco, my old haunt and uni town. The hills are killers...try walking home after a night in the bar! Hey, I was younger then. Now days if I lived there I'd have to give up walking or drinking. Personally, I think exercise is over rated. Cheers.

Wow, those hills are really mental. The windiest downhill street ever, that looks tricky to drive down.
I imagine with all those hills, most of the natives should be in pretty good shape (unless they drive everywhere). ^^
