  • great review!

  • Thank you for this VERY thorough review!!!

  • Omg did the mac cleanser change prices? I bought one today and its already CN$14.50

  • @dyanjennica09 Guess so.... I did make this video a year ago, so prices are inclined to increase in prices.

  • thanks so muhc for this review!! very helpful!

  • Could it be that the MAC brush cleanser contains more alcohol than the Sephora brush cleaner therefore cleaning and drying time is faster than the Sephora brush cleaner.

  • @BlueLacrymosa Unfortunately I don't know the exact composition of each formula, so I can't really answer that question.

  • OMG!! You are amazing!!!! Thanks for a great review!

  • I have the MAC cleanser, but it always seems to leave my brushes dried out, and not conditioned.. perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but that's what I've noticed happen with all my brushes, and now when I'm blending with my 217.. it feels I'm scraping off my eyelid.

  • @VaneKristine How often are you using the brush cleanser vs. deep cleaning (i.e. shampoo + condition) your brushes?

  • uuuuuuu rokk thanx, u were very helpful to me ... very rehersed and clean looking video..yurr a natural!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • are the caps for the sephora cleanser and the mac cleanser compatible? Meaning, can I use my sephora sprayer on the mac cleanser? If not, where did you get the sprayer from that you used on your mac cleanser? I don't want to order the mac cleanser until I have a spray nozzle for it first! Thanks so much for this video! Check out my new beauty channel! I subscribed to you, please subscribe to me! Thanks!

  • Yes, the caps are compatible.

  • Fabulous! Love your through comparisons, explanation of the proper care of your brushes AND your tangent -rant ON! Super helpful! THANKS!

  • You even liked my tangent? *blushes* Thanks!

  • Bought this Sephora brand but ended up returning, I'll be sticky to my tried and true baby shampoo and olive oil. :)

    Thanks Fiona

  • Excellent review! I've always used the MAC brush cleaner but thought about trying other brands... not after this review! :) Thanx!

  • But like you said... it's more chemical with Mac's... I'm using Sephora's, I find it works pretty well :)

  • I never said MAC had more chemicals. I said that the smell is more "chemical-ly" compared to Sephora which had more of a floral/perfume scent.

Unfortunately Sephora doesn't disclose their full ingredients list, so who knows which one really contains more chemicals.

  • Thanks so much for the video! I had the sephora cleanser in my cart online and I will be changing and ordering Mac! Great video :)

  • Great review.

  • Very helpfull video! Thank you so much. I didn't know how to clean my brushes with a daily cleanser, and I didn't know which one to buy.

    So, thanks!

  • this was the perfect review/comarison... you really helped me make a clear choice on which one i should get .... thanks a lot ... i subscibed to ur channel b4 the video was over.... looking forward to more videos from u... hope all is well with u

  • what does the mac cleaner smell like?

  • Like a whole bunch of chemicals mixed together. The smell is similar to rubbing alcohol.

  • ok thanks. have you ever tried making some some?

  • Nope.

  • a quick tip for the sephora brush cleanser for eye brushes is to spray one pump into the cap and put the brush in it to soak up all the product so that none of it goes to waste and then just swipe it back and forth like you would normally.

  • you're very technical. i love it!

  • Can you tell me how you disinfected/cleaned your spray cap before using it? Thanks.

  • I first wash it with soap and water and pump some water thru the tube and spray nozzle so there is no residue inside. Then I do the same thing with rubbing alcohol. I let it dry for an hour and viola...disinfected!

  • darn i just bought the sephora one today!

should have looked it up before i bought it!

  • O no, I have the SEPHORA brush cleanser! ;(

  • Excellent series! Love it! Thanks for doing all the research, testings and sharing your findings with us! *whew!*

  • you're so pretty :)

i love the product wars idea... i definitely think i'll refer to this video once i purchase my next brush cleanser <3

  • you're amazing=) love the product wars idea!!

  • 10 Stars! thanks.

  • Woo hoo! I'm so glad you do these videos. They have saved me money--this one especially. Thanks again!

  • I wish the same could be said for my wallet lol. No problemo...thanks for watching :D

  • I have been using straight up alcohol for spot cleaning for years and haven't had a problem. I still use gentle shampoo for deep cleaning. When I look at the ingredients in the brush cleansers the first one or two is always alcohol so, I feel like its the same and I'm saving money. What do you think?

  • Nooooo....isopropyl alcohol is really damaging to use alone for your brushes. It can dry the bristles out. The reason why brush cleansers contain other ingredients is to nourish the bristles.

Alcohol is one of the main ingredients because this is what gives the cleanser the anti-bacterial properties and allow it to dry quickly.

  • I went out and bought the Sephora brand cleaner after you anounced this product war...to do my own comparison (and to get the spray bottle top). I agree with you 100%. But I will be saving the spray top to use with my MAC brush cleanser. Can't wait for the next Product War.

  • Glad we yielded the same results!! Three cheers for spray tops that work!

  • Great review!

I was wondering if I was getting a BANG for my buck!

    Now I know :)

  • Hahaha. You definitely are ;)

  • I have been waiting your review bout the brush cleanser since the previous product war...hihi.... =D thanks so much for doing this...!!

  • Thank YOU for watching and commenting :D
