Why are you using magic on him while hes in RED form? Weapons do more damage to him and you're just wasting MP. You're sup to use magic on him when he transforms into BLUE form. I like jellyfish sandwhiches and niggers.
Look I completed this boss at lvl 21. All u need is big guard and good materia. I also suggest beta and White wind if u hv them. Aqualung will come in handy. AND AERIS LIMIT LVL 1 SEAL EVIL 2 PARALIZE HIM. DONT PUT ANY CURE MATERIA ON HER, put that on cloud or the other 1 (the strongest or one with most life). Don't use 2 much magic on him or he's harder 2 beat. It may seem complicated, but trust me, it's worth it, and once uve dun it once, it's easy! :)
@E55EXG1RL i beat at lvl 21 too ^_^ but i think my so called: "straetegy" isnt really a strategy lol all i did was go kill some extremely easy low lvl enemies like the whole way back in midgar and just make cloud kill them all so i get his meteorain ability. then get barret's satelite beam/ungarmax and tifas limit breaks. get yeah on all of her limit breaks use ungarmax and meteorain.. and i killed him in... aproximately 2 mins. i tried your stoo :) works like a charm! :P
@leonpal14 i tried urs 2. works well, but i did it again after without barret, i used aeris. i find her lvl1 limit breaks the best. i think tht the cloud thing is cool, and i also did tht with cid once to get his highwind. i used this strategy on other bosses too
@E55EXG1RL yeah i find that meteorain works better than omnislash if you can hit 9999 with each meteor or atleast 9000 :) but i never got my stats up high enuf for that lol

it's an enemy skill called Big Guard, I forget what enemy you learn it from, but you have to have the Manipulate materia and make the monster cast it on your party while someone has Enemy Skill on.
If it has 7000 health, i jes' gotta use a summon i forget the name of (think its name starts with a B... lol) which dose 2000-2800 (usually like 2500 i think?) and make sure cloud already has limit break, another 1500 damage, then see how the battle turns out from there.
used to annoy me cracking that safe, always went past the numbers cos i was rushing, and when i did get it right i got wasted by the fucker. i was a happy chappy when i nailed him for the first time.
This boss wasn't to hard for me but i guess it was becasue i was lucky and my highest character was around lv 35. Cloud entered the battle with his limit break and constantly used beta on him. Luckily Barret stopped him as well later on with choco/mog . I guess another thing that helepd was everyone had a hp plus except barret, who had 2.
@sa3denho i think it's a hidden materia in the place after the midgar zolm thing and you have to go through the caves. it was hidden somewhere in there i think... but i'm not sure
My characters are like half the power of yours, only one materia is at level 2, I don't have a clue as to how to use the materia's properly, but I beat this fella with my three level 20's without using any items. Just beasting and curing.
wow, people r on lvl 33 alrdy and still find it hard to beat this boss, im usually around lvl 15-20 and i still own it, try not to train so hard guys its probably one of the easiest final fantasy's out of the lot, learn to use tactics not just levels
The best way I defeated him was the Chobo/mog summon...it freeze the boss...not let him move for like a min then I just plowed attacks on him...it was fairly easy for me.
you just gotta use materia for the whole first half (as you did) then just ->Attack him every turn once he morphs into the materia form. But yeah this one was hard, I played this game when I was 10 and I had to grind outside Nibelheim for a few levels before I could beat him, but only using physical attacks and limit breaks (rather than using materia as you did). RedXIII's berserker limit break basically got me through it
IM ONLY IN LVL 21 AND I WAS LIKE 200 HP TO GET IT KILLED! (I got dubble 6 with dice with CAIT SITH and the dps with double 6 is 2400) Everyone was dead except CAIT SITH so when i did that i kinda died and i went crazy and threw the control on the floor!! (lost number where in that purple form his dps is like 1 k to 2 k)
I just beat him in about 30 seconds or so. I had 5 tentacles from Gi Cave fights that I used right at the start (cloud and red used them all, barret used haste+all materia and had to use a healing potion on red). Then when he went to the red half, I just had red heal while I attacked with barret and cloud. Went down real fast as the Bio 3 from the tentacles I got did 1k damage on the hit + poisoned him.

Hey I have a question!!! I am at the safe now and I got all the codes (the clues I mean) but it still tells "fail" when I do it correctly? What I have missed? I have checked 100times the numbers and I am POSITIVE that I am making the same numbers as you do and as they say in the clues! Please help me :(
@Kuroshist: When you do the combination, you CAN'T skip/miss the numbers or else it will mess it up. Also you have to hit the red circle button when you get to a number.
@wasisu: The Time materia can be bought somewhere(i dont remember where omg) and and Big Guard Enemy skill you can get while fighting Enemies Called "Beachplugs". Use Cait Siths manipulate (if you dont want to use him simply remove his manipulate materia and equip it on someone else.) and cast Big Guard on all of ye party members :) Oh, Big guard does not only give you a Barrier, it also gives Haste :)
im replaying FF7 and i didnt get VIncent the first/only time i played it through (only got to the last boss though) so i faced Lost number and didnt quite know what to expect but it was easy :P

I lvled up until I got in the mid 30's. It made the fight way more easier than the video you posted. Big Guard, Bio, and the summons helped a lot too.
Remember that you can train your people in Junon where the group of SOLDIERS are drilling at by pressing the red button. I stayed in there, and lvl my people up.
Simple tactic for stronger bosses. Big Guard Enemy skill materia skill. BIO and then just focus on staying healthy rather than attacking. Similar to Midgar Zolom.
oh and it helps if u can steal Beta from Zolom. Such a strong move! and if u can get Beta onto both your materias you are sorted until level 40 in my opinion with big guard as well.
I just beat this guy last night. Whooped his ass...but I think I was extremely lucky. Used 2 choco/mogs to stop him, two Tifa limit breaks of Beat Rush and Somersault only, a Bolt2's, Shiva, Ramuh, and while he was stunned, used 3 M. Tentacles which do 1000+ damage to him. (Bio3)
@reclusegamer000 About halfway through the fight, he'll change into either a physical second form with "Lost Blow" that pretty much kills your group in one hit (as well as high Defence from physical attack); or a magical second form that casts L2 spells. The magical one is far easier to beat, but stick to using physical attacks as his Magic Defence stat is very high. Hit him with magic only until he changes form to start with.
@sadllama22 This boss was fairly easy to beat. Well all the bosses in the game are easy to beat lol especially if you have beat the game over 30 times haha

@DK3790 You can't go past the numbers when you enter them. For instance, when entering 36, you cannot go past it to 37, and then go back. It won't work that way.
@DK3790 you can't go over the number. sorry if i'm too late but if you type in 36 10 59 then accadently move to 98, you have to start over and try again. you can't pass it but it's ok if you slow down a bit like at around 30 start going slow. hope this helped!
@DK3790 i assume you got this by now (its been 2 years) but if u didnt know after you go to the number you have to push circle. to input that number and if you go past a certain number while trying you have to start over again cuz u cant turn back to that number.

Here's a tip. When he turns red, use melee attacks. When he turns purple, use magic. When he's both, just use whatever you got.

He's easy to beat as long as he turns into the red version. Make sure you use Aeris' Seal Evil Limit to paralyze him for like 10 turns.

Are you using the throw materia? If so, don't do that. You want to go to the items menu and use it there.
