  • I love it when i see them flapping on the ground, as soon as you see that you know you made a peeerfect fuckin shot haha

  • holy shit big grouse

  • well great shot ruffed grouse were i hunt are pretty timid but i did manage to take one with a headshot from my 22.cal backpacker pellet gun when i was waiting for my firearms licence to arrive. but i say if you can stalk that close and make the shot i dont see any reason why not to shoot.

  • sounded like a 22. and the tag is 22. so i figure its a 22.

  • @mattevanswastaken

Yes, that was my cousin shootin his 22

  • What did you take that grouse with

  • @huntinguy532

My cousin shot the grouse with his 22

  • nice shot but why the fuck didnt you break its neck you just let it bleed to death

  • @ethantup456

Thanks, my cousin shot the grouse and the shot broke the grouses neck thats why it dropped on the spot...all galliacious birds tend to flap as they expire...this bird wouldn't of died a second quicker if we twisted its head clean off...it was gone already...but thanks for your concern...I like quick and clean harvests my self as I was full on against hunting for the first 25 years of my life...now I love hunting but I still don't like cruelty, thanks.

  • yeah nice shot! I always complain about people shooting from right next to their cars, but at least you didn't walk right up to it like everyone else does.

Kind of hard to tell from the video, but it looks like its a good 30-40 yard shot and, i don't know if you tried this but, you lead the grouse a little bit so to only get the bullets in the head... well done...

If you were aiming for the middle of the bird... then it was a bad/lucky shot, lol no offense

  • @hAg3475

Yes...well we were on the travel to go hunting Elk and Deer and we came across the grouse...and we just didn't want to miss out on some grouse for dinner

Yah...he did shoot pretty far...probably a lil over forty.

I am not the greatest shot...I can out hunt almost anyone and I do for the most part...but i never grew up shooting guns....so I didn't do the whole 'shootin dicky birds and frogs or small game etc from BBs and Pellets too high powered rifles

  • @hAg3475 I had to learn to shoot in my late twenties and now I am a good shot under 200 yard with my rifles and I can shoot my bow out to 50 yrds but I am not the accomplished 22 marksman like many of you out there...Most of my grouse I've shot with my 12 gauge and I lead and aim high and have done impressively well with the head shots

  • @hAg3475

I can assure you that my Cousin was aimin right where he shot it...he likes to head or neck shoot everything he can. He is a very accomplished outdoorsman and his Dad is a past President of the Fish and Game Association and had him out when he was knee high to a grasshopper

Thanks for your interest and happy trails to you

  • Nice one ;-)

  • Nice camera work. I liked the pans and cuts. I think I've said it before...the country up there is beautiful.

  • Great video!

  • great shot i've shot a couple grouse so far this season, i've found that if you wait until 5 or so in the after noon they come out on the road, but then to be legal you and the grouse have to get off the road before you can shoot it.

  • it actually depends on the road for where i hunt, some roads are only good in the evening, some are only good in the morning, some are good all the time.

I have also found that the more often a road is hunt the more they tend to stay away from it, like a road can be good one year... then it gets hunted every day... then next year you don't shoot a single bird on the road.

And if someone hunt drives the road with an atv, it seems to scare the birds off the roads for a few days even!!!

  • @hAg3475

I know what you mean...and agree for the most part...but I would add that grouse are funny lil creatures and I've seen them back out on the same road from minutes to hours in the same day and day after day too on both back and main roads...they mostly are there for the rocks for their gizzard which grinds up there food that they have just been eating and collecting such as berries or leaves

  • nice shot,great vid

  • Awesome video!! Nothing like a ruffed grouse to start the season!! I bake mine with bacon wrapped over them!! Mmmmmm!! 5/5

    ED

  • slow cooker for me!

  • @hAg3475

now I where is my crockpot...I have a slow cooker somewhere...I used to use it 5 days a week...don't remember why I stopped...they do work well.

I've put tough Moose roasts in there and they come tender...got to love a slow cooker.

  • sweet, those dudes taste good? Probably like chicken huh LOL
