Seeing the to have a 2 hour film at 1080p with lossless audio, you need 13 gigs of storage. Couple with that with the fact that much of the entry level Blu-ray discs ($20 on down) have little supplements (Special features), they are either not using an entire disc or they are filling the disc up with dummy files, doing both decreases load times.

HD-DVD was more economical, but the BD had the higher quality. Much like the battle in the early 80's between CED and Laserdisc.

I really couldn't care less that Blu-ray won. I've been enjoying movies like Batman Begins, V For Vendetta and The Matrix in 1080p with TrueHD audio for well over a year now. I wouldn't trade that for nothing more than saving shelf space on a player. My movies and players still work fine.

Of course! I have an old A1 that broke a few months ago. I opened it up and put the drive from it in my computer for future use, just in case someone hacks it someday. In the meantime, it functions with windows XP as a DVD drive and I use it to watch SD DVDs. The shell from that old player is what I trashed. XD

Most of the AMAZING games on 360 are on PS3,and they even run better on the PS3 in half the cases,Call of Duty 4,Burnout Paradise and Devil may Cry 4 all run better on the PS3 than the 360.Resistance is way better than Halo (so what if it's part of a trilogy?),and 2008 is the year to own a PS3 now.Especially since leading developers prefer it,Blu ray won and it's a blu ray player,and the games in 2008 are ten times the 360 or wii's 2008 games.

Come on, now. The PS3 has som egreat gamnes forthcoming, sure, but TEN TIMES the 360 and Wii's? Super Smash Bros. Brawl is coming in four days, Mario Kart is coming in the next couple of months, then Gears of War 2 is coming this holiday season and those are all very solid games. MGS4, Resistance 2 and FFXIII will certainly be great but the 360's still one-upping the PS3 on occasion. GTA4 will only have downloadable content on the 360, for example.

Blu-ray players are criminal in their load times. Up to three minutes on the very first generation players. The PS3 is a work of art in comparison. It hardly has any load times. The mandatory trailers that Disney puts at the beginning of their titles, though, almost ruins the speed in some cases. Thankfully, in Ratatouille and Cars, you can skip them.

Umm...you do realize that HD DVDs are now dirt cheap and there are 1000 titles out there (400 of which reside in the US). Also with that old Toshiba player you have you can actually open it up and you'll find 1 GB RAM stick there. Replace it with a 2 GB RAM stick and buy Transformers for 11 bucks on Amazon. Chill.

Despite this, Blu-ray won by gaining much support from the other studios. The HD disc has ended but another (HD movie downloads) has begun. In all, I believe both players will be obsolete by the end of next year.
