Our Maltese makes some bizarre noises, similar to this as well as barking-the dog is probably perfectly all right ! When he was younger, he only made these strange noises, and we were worried about him, but other Maltese owners said that theirs did the same . He still does it & sounds like I don't what-certainly not a dog. So I wouldn't worry about this dog too much.

@MrAngryGnome I find your online name hillarious since I love gnomes. But aside from that, shock collars actually freak out dogs to the point of aggression and anxiety. Positive training would be the easier route so it doesn't cause further problems, depending on the dog. If I used a shock collar on a dachshund that had once been abused, it wouldn't respond to me today. I went down the postiive training path and have never had a problem since. :)

You're right, but constant barking is annoying. I had a neighbor's lab bark for six hours straight because no one played with it or brought it inside when the weather was cold. I finally had enough and went outside with a handful of dog treats and trained it to stop barking. Others are less fortunate with time to train the dog or may not know how. They can choose to take the easier way out but I find free training much cheaper and ore affective. :)

If you don't want a dog that barks, DON'T get a dog. Get a placement with a picture on it. A dogs bark, like body language, is necessary for communication. People are lazy & naive. They want an animal for selfish reasons & then modify it to 'fit'. If you truly respect & want a dog & aren't lazy u would just (here's a novel thought) spend time & effort to train it. It doesn't matter what the law 'legitimises' laws changes often becoz they don't work. Sad for the animal & people without character.
