cool song and setpu you have there. what soundcard are you using and do you have all those synths hard wired to your soundcard or are you connecting them through a patch bay?
@SpiralTrance Thanks! I have a Motu 828 FW Interface and a RME ADI-8 Pro. That means I can address directly around 18 channels hardwired. In most cases this is enough for me, but I also have a 24 channel patchbay just in case ... :)
@rocsire Both are great, I am sure I will pick up a md one day myself. Md has the better interface and a modern digital sound, Jomox does these oldschool drums like nothing else. Well, you know the exception ...
by the way, think I never said...but great great sound and tunes you dropp, I mean, sometimes I see other people dropping things like this but it doesn't hits me, even tho' they have moogs or elektrons monomachine's or poly evolv, and tat jomox 888...I mean...with or without your gear,
I'm sure you´ll still make this amazing tracks and tunes.
@archebeats Hey archebeats, thanks for your interest! You can download some tracks for free: rockpoppy[dot]com/solitud
If you have some tracks of your own I recommend to post them there also, it´s a fun site, kind of producer game, where you try to push your real tracks in a virtual chart :)
@instantknut Thank you very much, maybe I will I have some stuff or two, maybe we can collaborate on some track? I don't have lot's of gear like your,s but I have a lot of midis.
I was thinking of purchasing a monomachine to supplement an esx-1 sampler, are you satisfied with the performance and capabilities of the monomachine in regards to sequences and sound manipulation.
@CaptainQuietmouth Monomachine is a great simple sequencer, fun to use, capable of sequencing 6 tracks of outboard gear, but do not expect Logic functionality. The soundengine is very digital, you have to like it.
i was thinking of purchasing the elektron monomachine to supplement an esx-1 sampler. my question is are you satisfied with the monos performance and capabilties?
You remind me of Captain Future somehow...you are in controll of a quite funky spaceship actually! Great Show...nice equipment...you are not by any chance on tour somewhere?
@Zweispeer Thank you for your kind comment! Although I am feeling more like Otto or Greg than the captain himself! Sorry, no tour, I think it would be a one person audience :)
Hey man, me again, i am looking at the poly evolver here in Dublin, i am trying to make my mind up whether to get that or the Prophet 08, unfortunately for me nowhere sells the Prophet so i was wondering if you have an opinion on what the Prophet is like?
Out of curiosity: if you could have only one synth what would it be the Voyager?
btw im listening to your tunes here sipping a beer - majestic!!! respect
Hey empirix, in short Prophet 08 is an evolver with 8 voices but without the digital oscillators, so it´s more a traditional analog synth. The Voyager may be my choice as a lonely island synth, but than unfortunately, all my tracks would be monophonic.
DUDE YOU LOOK LIKE A DIFFERENT GUY WITH NO MUSTACHE AND SHORTER HAIR looking like a star lol.. man I love your gear.. mostly the moog. one of this days I'm gonna be crazy enough to put a month worth of salary on a baby like dat.. lol. great vid.
Great groove you got going here Knut. Is it the Evolver for the intro chords and Voyager for Bass? Which dude comes in at 0:27? I've gotta have these 2 machines. Keep your Vids coming quicker man.. 3 in 2 years just aint good enough ;) . We won't hold our breath for your first cut !!
Hey thanks, you have good ears or a deep knowledge. Evolver is the intro cords, Voyager is the bass. You can see the Midi In of the Voyager blinking when the bass starts in. The "dude" is my trusty old Virus you can't see in the clip, its on my right hand side. I try to record some more tunes but time is a factor. Where are your tunes ;)
Thanks! Actually I don't have a mixer. The thing with the faders is a Mackie Remote Control, which I use to set the levels of a MOTU Firewire Interface, which acts as a mixer ...
i like this tune a lot indeed ... i like the overall idea ... it reminds me my old days in clubs ... long time ago ;-) it's kind of a ministry of sound tune ... people around with tight jaws trying to cool down on such a tune ... good old days ... why don't you evolve drums on your track ... synth riffs are very good shame that drums hide too far behind ... good work
Thank you very much. Sure, the volumes are not very well balanced, the problem of live jams, same goes for the arrangement. But it´s so much more fun to make sounds with a live sequencer than programing a perfect balanced clinic track in the daw. I saw you do it the same way ;)
yes indeed i don't want to work with a computer ... why buying hardwares if it's driven by a pc ? just for the sound ? i love tweaking ... elektron & nord stuff have an amazing midi protocole ... hours & hours of programming but the result is great !!
Great Song!! I would really like to know how you created the robot voice...Also my compliments on the impressive collection of instruments and on your website.
great quality recording, first time i hear the jomox in such a nice quality and is now on my list instead of the machinedrum. Not sure if the vo of the mono worked in this track.
Thanks, the Jomox has much character but sometimes it is stubborn as a mule. Don`t expect sequencing features as sophisticated like the machinedrum has!
I experimented a little with the Monomachine VO (the robot voice) while I modulate vocals and consonats with a LFO. So the robot began unintelligible to babble, which I thought is a nice analogy to the old testament story of the tower of Babel, where the cultures lost their abilities to understand each other.
Hey, welcome back to the future. This vid looks more like the present since you lost your 70's hair and moustache from your other vids. Fantastic gear and music, and please don't freak me out saying the future is VSTs, AUs, etc. I want analog hardware to stay!
O.K. the VST future forseeing thing is my official statement, because people think you are a clown if you deny the hegemony of computerbased production. Inofficially I`m pretty sure that in 10 years everybody uses hardware again and laughs about the soulless mouseclicking 00 years :) From then on at the latest the moustache is back, I promise!
Thank you! Don`t fear Midi, it`s a little clumsy but one time properly set up it works for ages. In a near future it will be abandoned after all, see VST, Audio Units, etc.
thats good

This good, it could be an electropop hit with the right sort of vocal hook in an "air" or "daft" type style?
