Kiryu is the 1954 Godzilla. When he heard the new Godzilla's roar, it triggered a genetic memory of it being Godzilla and went on a rampage.

Kiryu means mecha Godzilla I found out online look it up in Russian it means a Japanese word called Gojira with the first part mecha

In my opinion, they should have stuck with the theme song from Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla(1993), that theme song made you understand the dominance of MechaGodzilla. This them seems a bit to happy sounding for a weapon to kill monsters.

To me Mechagodzilla will always be Godzilla's greatest enemy, because this guy, in any form, has come close to beating and/or killing Godzilla. This MechaG actually sucseds.

@MrDevilsbrood1012 That's actually a little confusing because in the original 1954 Godzilla he got 'liquified' after dying. The camera even shows it, sort of, he dies, he turns to bones and then disappears completely. I don't think the film makers thought that one through very well

I liked this movie because it finally got "Godzilla vs Godzilla" off the ground in some form. They were gonna do it in '95 but decided to replace Ghost G and Bagan with just one monster that covered both of their roles: Destroyah. I absolutely adore the scene where Kiryu's memories take control for the first time.

the reason kiryu seemed weaker than the original mecha was that the millennium godzilla is stronger by alot than the showa series version. mecha was simply built stronger than godzilla at the time. kiryu is stronger than mecha godzilla but only built a little bit stronger than millennium godzilla rather than stronger by so much.

i like the design for MG 3 but MG 1 and 2 proved to be stronger...both of them nearly killed godzilla, well MG 2 did, MG 3 always gets powered down, but thats more realistic..if the other two were like that i think they might have gotten beaten up pretty bad...

I still prefer Mechagodzilla a little more better than Kiryu, to me "Mecha" sounds more like an evil cyborg version of the actual living thing(or monster in godzilla's case), theme's good though but I still prefer the hesie one.
