Hello great video! Just wanted to ask if you know or not but when you're bent over do u arch your back so the shape is like a u and stick yout butt out or do you tuck your bum in and almost like clinching your butt cheeks. thanks
@MiniMelful your lower back should be fairly neutral when skating... not overly arched, but definitely not rounded either. the main thing to worry about is that you're bending at the knees, not as much at the waist. some people misunderstand "getting lower" as bending more at the waist. doing this will mess up your balance, and throw you forward. hope that helps!
@LiPTACLV he was 10 years old at the time, so make sure you're comparing apples to apples. maybe it's hard to tell from this clip, but he was (and still is) a very explosive skater.
@liljoepro871 haha - ya, especially now that they're banning checking at PeeWee here in the States! just kidding :P good point... i was more interested in dissecting the stride itself on this vid, so i had just told him to sprint from blue line to blue line. always a good idea to keep your head up though!
im suprised you know all of this, explain the arm thing more alot of kids dont pick up on it alot of kids dont see how much they lose swinging their arms, all the momentum, blah blah you know what im talking about. i play jrs in nj now and used to take figure skating lessons when 3 and 4 and being 18 now it was the best choice. good luck with your stuff and keep it going your helping alot of people
@topcornerwristshot if your arms are swinging against your momentum, it will slow you down. In other words, you're trying to make your body move forward, but your arms are swinging side to side, it's making you work harder for less result.
Hey ! you seem to know what your talking about, and i would be happy if you could watch my video, there arent lots of skating on it but just look it and tell me, should i be more lower , and im one of the big guys so what blade siceing :o
@weissie20 nice bro... i wanted to ask.. i see some of my friends doing like a lot of crossovers very fast, even when they move straight, do u think that could increase speed too xD ?

could these techniques be applied to roller hockey as well?

Absolutely! In fact, wearing out your front wheel is a good sign you're getting a good toe snap.
