Actually Daniel Bascom The American Slave trade from 1600's to 1800's produced a one hundred million brought upon ships from West Afrika, only ninety million lived to see the horror of the American shores...
This is one of the saddest things i have ever seen. Few people realise that there are more people in slavery today than there were at the time of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act. The most conservative estimates suggest there are now more than 12 million people worldwide working as slaves.
esto esta muy mal es lo que pasa sin darnos cuenta en el planeta por eso el grupo de rock-progresivo =the mars volta= le puso asu new album THE BEDLAM IN GOLIATH (INVESTIGUENLO)
The target audience needs to include everyone who is a link in the chain of human slavery-each of us who shops without paying attention to the labels on our clothes is guilty of contributing to child slavery.
Do you think if Artist like Pink and these ones incorporate images of poor countries and serious issues such as Human Trafficing into music video's, they actually TRY to help or is it just another way to make money.
It is pretty amazing that trafficking in human worker/sex slaves is the second largest economy worldwide, just after military/arms spending and ahead of the drug trade, entertainment (including video games, Hollywood etc.), etc.
This vid turns on the presupposition that those of us watching the vid can AFFORD ethically produced goods.
I think Thom Yorke has forgotten the class he came from; I salute his efforts for "green touring," but I don't think he recognizes the predicament of those who share his ideals but don't share his means.
It's easy for him to act indignant when his standard of living doesn't have to suffer to help those in need. He should do more to make ethical goods more AFFORDABLE and ACCESSIBLE.
However Radiohead have always fought for truly important causes and this is just another example of how intelligent and beautiful music can be implemented in an attempt at opening people's eyes to how little they give a thought to the world that isn't shown on the television. I'm not one for having beliefs and causes forced upon me, but in this case i feel it is a valid and worthy one.
i watched this before i went to school today on mtv2. it made me think about how we take things like shoes for granted, without knowing they're made in sweatshops by child labourers.
really? i didnt get that from the video. thx 4 that clarification. meanwhile, this video speaks volumes to us as americans.its no different than a commercial of poor kids in sudan with the old man walking around askin u 2 feed lil tim for 2 cents a day. its sad that radiohead has to "aid us" (play on words there) by showing us that we need to do something about this poverty epidemic as though the signs werent apparent. i salute them for the video but we need to wake up. signs are already here
"Society" is totally impotent. No point in waiting for "society" to help you. It's individuals who need to act on their own to end mistreatment. Like you, and me, and all the other people who have just commented.
the dif in the lives of children in dif parts of the world. its really sad.

2. USAid and MTV going for that?
Wonderful clip, wonderful ideia, but hypocrit.

Who is a hypocrite? Atleast MTV and radiohead recognize the problem. What do the asian countries do?

it is indonesian.. means : "come on all, wake up now!"

The woman in the start trying to wake up the children said... "Bangon" several times.
In Filipino, "bangon" means "get up".
Other lines were not as clear though.
Anyone who could recognize other lines from the clip?

Actually, MTV approached Radiohead to ask if they could use their (RH's) song on their (MTV's) video so I'm afraid your "play on words" was wasted.
