CO2 levels in the Triassic and Jurassic were some 20x higher where life clearly thrived, WITHOUT A RUNAWAY GREENHOUSE! 6144 global core and stalagmite samples confirm this.

Going back further, the Carboniferous was an expanse of huge forests due to the extra CO2, it's what plants breathe. That's where we get our fossil fuels. Where do you think all that CO2 came from in the first place? The atmosphere.

CO2 levels were higher in the past. It was a lot warmer and drier back then. We wouldn't do too good in that climate.

There is no "ideal" CO2 level. However, we built our civilization in a very short time. We build cities near the coast, never even thinking that the water levels will rise. We take things like fresh water for granted, which is going to be a huge problem in the near future.

It's not that our current climate is anything special, it's just what we built our civilization on.

CO2 levels now are generally way below what the average was some millions of years ago, around 1000ppm.

Be aware that "warm and wet, cold and dry" is how anthropologists describe past climates. Local climatic patterns tend to be far shorter in duration.

The airborne fraction (might) have been constant over the last 150 years. The CO2 levels have risen by 35% over this period. As long as the airborne fraction is above zero the CO2 levels will rise.

This is from the 2007 IPCC report: "There is yet no statistically significant trend in the CO2 growth rate since 1958 .... This 'airborne fraction' has shown little variation over this period."

This is not a "bombshell" paper. All it does is confirrm the IPCC 2007 report.

I don't think you understand the carbon cycle. Almost all of the carbon that is emitted, by humans or otherwise, is absorbed. That's why the level normally remains constant. We are increasing emissions past the point where the Earth can absorb it. When this happens the level rises.

Volcanic activity contributes less than we do. That's not the point though. Volcanic activity isn't changing. The only contribution it will have is to keep the CO2 levels constant, which is what we want. Our emissions are changing things.

And just for the record, we contribute more to CO2 emissions than all volcanic activity. This is an easily verified fact, which makes me wonder why so many people make the opposite claim.
