Big Walter from what I have read would have done the same; he didn't care much for gear, and like many other greats played with whatever was available. A great player can make anything sound good; the best gear won't give you a great sound if you don't have the chops!

tpod17, you can study under David Barrett, I have for a couple of years, and have never met him. He has a great Classic Chicago Blues Harp series on DVD and its well worthwhile, gives you all you need to know.
