I like Blind Guardian and Iced earth, but I really think this is better than either of them. Its got the strength and power of Iced Earth, but mixed with the harmony of Blind guardian.

Its a brilliant combination!

Guess thats when it started. Shaffer lost his creativity completely after Horror Show. The whole riffing in the later albums is damn samy to the previous. But I guess thats just what happens after so fucking long being the only on in a band writing the songs.

I HATE Jon Schaffer's Picking style. It sounds Amazing, but It is, for some strange reason, impossible for me to play.

Best one to train it is Travel in Stygian. If I remember correctly I started pretty early trying Iced Earth songs and practiced them till I was able to play through the stuff without getting totally exhausted. I dont know if I could do that now, that easily again.

I wonder how Shaffer got that picking feel. I never saw a good example for this "riding" style he could have taken as influence, before Purgatory. Insanely creative man.
