  • I am going to use this song to do a presentation at school.

We were supposed to research a type of cloud, and this song popped into my head and he said if we sang a song we would get an A automatically. Because of the catchy song, right then I remembered most of the details about noctilucent clouds. (noctilucent = night + glow = glowing at night)

  • so many dumb non-scientific conspiracy theorists here in the comments. Saying that it is "chemtrail" is ignorant of the facts. (Chemtrail is a conspiracy theory based on trails made by high-altitude airplanes. They say govt. is secretly putting chemicals in the air. They say this because they can't trust anyone. I see no reason why you should trust them because they seem to believe that everyone else lies.)

It is so idiotic. also these clouds were seen before HAARP or airplanes came about

  • Dis is CHEMTRAIL...!

    You really Mad.

  • ...me no believe ...we no all sleepin...!

  • Saw some more last night - really beautiful! I stayed up all night watching them! I was watching from the UK.

  • Just saw this phenomenon last night, over Ireland, from 1:30am to 4am.

It was accompanied by some odd sounds in my area, like high-pitch air raid sirens, which made all the dogs in the vicinity howl. More than likely completely unrelated, but not knowing what NLCs were, I was unnerved.

Then I found this ... song... very informative... very unusual... I'm unnerved for a different reason now :p Good Job, NASA!

  • Bwuhahaha. Go Nasa! That is a very nice song albeit a bit trippy, Tied into our destiny? You bet your sweet Hercolo-balls it is. I'm afraid that global weather history is just a fraction of the story tied to this phenomenon. I really do like this overall. I would play this song when sitting on a hill in a deck chair watching a massive wave approaching, sipping a pina colada. ^_^

  • What a creepy song! Happy Tree Friends couldn't have done better.

  • chemtrail

  • is it Bobs and Lolo singing?

  • @clapage This is the Chromatics. They are an A Capella singing group made up mostly of NASA Goddard workers. Astro-Cappella is a part where they write songs about their jobs, because their jobs are pretty cool because it is about space.

  • Am i the only one who thinks they arnt clouds, But the ripples of space tying to push its way in.

  • @stuch11 Yes you are.

  • When I saw the video on the NASA website of noctilucent clouds photographed over a period of months, it looked like they were spiralling around the magnetic pole, don't know if this was an illusion created by how the photos were taken.

  • can this clouds can be dangerous to people?

  • @aprbeck

Not unless you're gullible enough to believe they're really chemtrails released by the government to hurt or kill people.

  • interesting subject, not sure about the accompanying music...

  • extraordinary...very unusual! i love the music...i love the whole package!

  • Ya know, scientists are saying the earth's magnetics are moving around a lot right now, and may end up with a magnetic pole shift, which they also say is long overdue. I wonder if all the cloud phenomenon & the rainbow lights, especially before 3 of the major quakes lately..could be due to that?? Any scientists reading this? Sure sounds possible, doesn't it?

  • This video is not science but a waste of money. Ridiculous.

    The creators should be fired.

  • So nice video!

  • I have experienced a strange and most disturbing phenomenon after commenting under NASA´s youtube-videos. If a comment (in some way) is going against something in the NASA-Dogma of "truths". Quickly I see a LOT of red thumb downs! Never a reply, just a LOT of thumb downs!!! Nasa is acting like "many angry people" against inconvenient comments!!!

  • LMAO.:)

  • Noctilucent clouds appear in the mesosphere and somehow manage to get past the ozone layer in the stratosphere.

  • This video is so much nicer with the volume shut off. ;)

  • Why are you people giving thumbs down to comments stating facts about NASA and wather control? You all need to read into this, read official NASA documentation on owning the wather 2025.

This is serious, so i suggest you inform yourself first before you bash comments and vote them down.

    Get real people!!!!!!!!!

  • People are ingorant to facts that are not present to them in a fashion they are used to like (CNN, FOX, etc).

You will find truth if you really wana seek it. People on here posting ignorant and uneducated comments have nothing really better to do then vote down comments that dont make sense to them or that they dont understand or dont want to take at face value. Jews were like this, ignorant and unbelieving, even to the point when nazis led them into the chambers. Wake up morons

  • I wonder if NASA can explain the clouds formed by jets in the latest video on my channel? Check out the films "Don't talk about the weather" and "Aerosol Crimes". There's a secret program going on worldwide... the media and govt. won't talk about it.

  • Learn how an airplane engine works before saying such thing.

  • @NAMLegolas Learn how cloud formation works and google "appleman chart".

  • I perfectly know how clouds form. I bet you don't also try Google to "Contrails"

The appleman chart say nothing about what contrails are, it just predicts where it can form and where it can't. More like Weather FORECAST.

We all know forecasting weather is not accurate at all. There are too many factors that can affect the creation of a Contrail,

Hell if you live in a cold place you can even notice your car doing the same shit.

  • I would just like to take this moment to THANK you for posting this video. Music is a powerful learning tool indeed and your piece is a very very informative one. I hope many sets of eyes and ears see and hear it....

TRUTH WILL ONLY SHOW ITSELF IF ONE SEEKS IT.

  • I posted a wild cloud pattern over my place. See my icon above? It didn't last for long.

  • The thing i like about this video is that the human capacity for awe and wonder are so evident. I am fortunate to have seen this. I like the song too. Thank You for making this.

  • The singers volunteered their time and all of the visuals used previously existed. Because this was produced and edited by our in-house team, the only cost was an in-kind 2 days worth of editing work, or about $350 for an editor's time. That's .0009 cents per YouTube view, not including the hits it has received on other sites. Was it worth the money? We think so. But we'll let you decide.....

  • Sorry just do not see the value. While the production is of great quality from a tax payer standpoint I just do not see it. unless of a course this was done entirely on everyone's own time and personal resources. I just do not see a measureable benefit. But then again what do I know, Iam jsut someone with an opinion.

  • @lynchrw from a tax payer standpoint? this is a capella. you just sing. How about from a tax payer standpoint what is the point of letting the President eat more fancy food than you eat? Does life have any meaning? Is it all about money? Really? If it was one of their other songs, like the one about fast food, you wouldn't be complaining about taxpayer dollars even though it comes from the same place money-wise. It is on the NASA channel because the song is relevant to a NASA mission.

  • @lynchrw Wow - I love it how people like you get all uptight about spending $350 on an educational video when NASA get less than 0.6% of the total US budget, and the entire world is spending hundreds of billions of dollars per year on blowing itself up at war. Some people really need to sort out their priorities.

  • they got some nerve........ conning trails

  • geo engineering. The song is aweful.

  • Noctilucent clouds would make an excellent camouflage to hide what happens in space.

    *ponders*

  • chemtrail argument = fail. have i done my research? yes. and i got a degree, too.

  • Everyone watch the video response to this. It's a MUST SEE.

  • Amen sister! It's all in the noodley hands of the Flying Spahetti Monster now

  • I won't spam you. WHY did they conduct the successful experiment in Europe (seen as far away as Boston) yesterday? And people say chemtrails DON'T EXIST!

  • What are you talking about?

  • Chem trails do not exist. The bigger mystery is why I am wasting energy responding?

  • BAHAHAHA, thanks mate, I haven't laughed this hard all week.

I won't even bother getting involved with your spouting on about American's being stupid, but let me just ask you this one more time, since you keep avoiding it:

WHERE is your evidence to back up your claims? You state that CO2 isn't a greenhouse gas. Please explain this. Also please post evidence to show the decreasing aurora, and the growing glaciers. If you can't do this then nobody is going to take you seriously.

  • Unexpected, Charming, Fun. I like it!

  • Faced with beautiful video like this, and all you lot can do is carp on spitefully with your bloody politics? For crying out loud. Get a grip, people.

The world is an amazing place. Get your heads out of your *cough* and pay attention.

  • To be fair, it's science, not politics. =P

And I agree, the world is a beautiful and fantastic place and I wish more people would recognize and respect it. :)

  • The sun is getting hotter, aye, but the rate of change is so slow (it will stay on the main sequence for about another 5 _billion_ years, that it makes no noticible effect on Earth's climate over the span of a lifetime.

As for Earth warming or cooling, feel free to think whatever you like.

  • Yeah, and they didn't really land on the moon either, right?

  • Comment removed

  • There are so many things wrong with your statement, I don't even know where to begin.

  • crap!

  • Ok, so...

1: They aren't common at the poles, but _near_ the poles. During the spring/summer/fall the sun isn't low enough for them to be visible at the poles. NLC's aren't present during winter either.

2: The sun isn't getting weaker.

3: Global cooling? I'd disagree. Also where are you pulling the year 1999 from?

    4: Glaciers are growing? Wrong.

5: NLC's are replacing the Aurora? How? They're a completely different phenomenon.

  • Why don't you start by posting some evidence to back up these assertions of yours? Never even mind the global warming debate. Let's discuss all these other things I brought up in my prior response.

  • The Sun is getting weaker, the World IS cooling down and Oh YES, 90% af this World´s glaciers ARE GROWING! And about "aurora borealis"... they are disapperaring due to our weak Sun. You should study NEW Metrological DATA!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Rainbowsilver, I'm still waiting for you to answer those questions I asked you earlier. :) Where's this new meteorological data that you speak of?

  • are you sure glaciers are growing?

  • Saw those clouds 2 days ago... very beautiful!!!

  • Never seen clouds like that beofre!

  • First seen near N. pole in 1885 at start of industrial revolution, these are probably the key to why we can expect the Hamaker hypothesis to manifest, like in the next couple of years. They have spread since then to the mid-latitudes and are in the S. hemisphere too. Seen "Day After Tomorrow?" Well here is how it happens. Greenhouse gases lead to more moisture in atmosphere, more methane, more of these clouds. Meteorite dust makes them 1st surface mirrors, cooling the earth fast.

  • cool song.

  • i like this piece

  • This is how it is at NASA now. Old-school RKO song-and-dance soft sells pie-in-the-sky. And I love it!

  • Your tax dollars at work!

  • this is halirious...

  • wow, that was... hmm...

  • Wow, there's even a song.

  • Greatest song ever.

  • prrreeeettyyyyy clouds

  • this belongs on TV..

  • Wonder if I could get a Federal budget for MY goofy videos...

  • These clouds are the highest in the atmosphere at about 50 miles up in the mesosphere. they are very rare.

  • I literally cannot express how much i LOVE this song. Seriously. LOVE IT!

  • hahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • OMG THEY FIRED A MISSLE!!!

  • LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Even though I have to do my dissertation on these things, all of a sudden I feel so much better :D

  • The music makes me want to learn more about our planet!!! Thanks

  • WOW BREAKING OUT IN SONG MAKES ME WANT TO LEARN NOW. There IS a meaning of life!

  • this is my new favorite song haha

  • Loooooove it!

  • great korning music and u learn a lot

  • cheerio! that was excellent. they should've done that YEARS ago

  • psilosibin mushrooms are highly recommended

  • doom doom doom...

    high, oh, high...

    high above the ocean...

    everyone sing! :D

  • wow! what a fun way to learn! :D

I wish we had this 15 years ago in school! I would be a rocket scientist if I was learning everything by a song! Do they have a cd? can I get it from amazon?

  • o_O

  • Heard on Paul Harvey that they are being seen further south lately.

  • at the edge of spaaaaceeeeeeee :D

  • Hahaha

  • Hahaha, excellent video!! I've never heard of noctilucent clouds, but now I know. Very informative. The a cappella singing is the tops. Well done.

  • CORN-E but FUN-E, said WALL-E

  • lol love the song i want to download it, this vid is so going in my favs

  • Does ANYONE know who is doing this fabulous a cappella singing?!?!

  • The group is "The Chromatics" (careful - there are two such groups!) and you can find (and download) their science music if you Google "AstroCappella".

  • AWESOME!!!

  • God's creation is indeed wonderful..

  • HOLY SNAP!! I didn't think an educational video could so catchy:D

  • love this song wat is it

  • Mock the music all you want. If you LISTEN to the lyrics you can actually learn what the clouds are all about, and why they are so mysterious.

Or, you can go back to your P Diddy concert, already in progress...

  • whack music

  • This sounds like something TMBG would do.

  • I LOVEEEE THIS SONG!!! LOL it's cute...catchy...happy

  • omg this song is the bugg

  • wow... once you hear the song about four times it starts to get good... omg noooo!!!

  • Of all of the wonderful music available in our world, THIS was chosen to accompany such a grand presentation on the beauty of natural phenomena! That's the stuff of diversity! Don't you just love it! Further, I'd suggest that notilucent clouds are the residue of those earthlings passing through death to eternity! Now just how scientific is that?

  • I enjoyed the music.

  • I enjoyed the must.

  • lmao

  • This is the greatest song EVER!!!

  • i know, right?

    its so catchy...

  • hey i actually like this song. Tax dollars well spent!!!! Kudos to the makers

  • lol

  • I think 1:05 explains where most of these clouds come from.

  • Come on now, everyone sing along :)

It has indeed got a high cheese factor

  • beautiful. not the music though.

  • I LOVE this video. Hats off to EVERYONE involved in the making of it. Wow! Makes me proud of the whole human race! Bravo! Bravo!

  • lol

  • LOL, speaking of AIM, i finished my math hw( I go to AIM which is like honours math class) in my school.

  • Damn..now that song is gonna be in my head...lol

  • no, trust me, having it played everyday in class is annoying. But now, I know it by heart.

  • I love the Chromatics!

  • haha, nice =D
