Lovely old cars these. And to think some idiots are banger racing them if they can get them cheap enough. Give me an A60 over my modern plastic box any day!!
my 1st car was a g reg, morris oxford in 1976 i had to start it with the crank handle...i blew the motor on the m4..when my foot was to the floor i wish i had that car today.....lol crash box and all..
Yeah that old crank handle has been handy just of late when the cold weathers knackered the battery, but you've got to watch your thumb in case of kickback!
It was (and still is today) MOT'd so no death trap. Old bangers like this require a little more concentration to drive and if you're unlucky enough to be involved in a shunt , the lack of airbags crumple zones etc won't do you much good but maybe because modern cars have all that stuff is why modern drivers take such high risks?
The film is basically a load of separate mobile phone & digital camera video clips all stitched together to make the one film. Over the course of making the films, I replaced the plates with some age related ones. Well spotted by the way - all the clips were done over a period of 18 months and when I joined YouTube - i just got editing and came up with this one film.
Great clip. I love these old cars with which I grew up. I am so tired of hearing about the environmental consequences of running such vehicles. I think USA, Indian, Chinese and Russian power stations are a lot more of a problem than a few exhaust pipes.
Keep 'em rolling!!! have you ever tried to remove the column change linkage system [beside the firewall] and then put it back successfully in under 3 hours??? I like column shift, but prefer to work on floor shift linkage systems!!!!!!
Never played with the column shift linkage yet - they're rare these days. This car has a new owner now and it's been done up nicely - will be posting a vid of that soon.
Morris cars are just a great British Tradition.I've bought one almost identical to yours complete with column change last week and hope to have it on the road very soon. So much nicer than driving modern cars.
I reckon there's less smoke there than on one of your buses matey!! Got to go now, my mungbean chowmein is ready to go (in the bin so I can fit a full english in).
if you want bad for the enviroment, try some of the offerings from renault, who's wiring harnesses are made without copper, & when the car gets to 7 or 8 years old is rendered scrap because the wires go rusty & break. Do the sums, more energy is made building a car than it will ever use in its life on the road. 40 & 50 years ago we built cars like this 1 built to last decades
WHAT A GREAT BRITISH CAR!

My Dad had a green Morris Oxford with a white roof like the one featured in this video. What happy memories. I would love to have one.

I agree with that, totally. And if we all had a car like this one in the video we would drive much more carefully and respectfully.
It's quite astonishing that the car still exists let alone still drive , MOT'd or not lol

bit of a death trap by the looks of it lol, but im sure it is an amazing car for an enthusiast

Why does the number plate change colour half way through from yellow to black? (Should be black with silver letters for this age of car, not yellow)

@PGPyramid1 either style of plate is legal for cars made before 1973. 1973-present cars require yellow plates

Ive never heard of a BMC farina-styled
mid-sized saloon with column-shift before except for the automatics. They must have been quite rare although it wasnt so rare on
similar-sized Ford, GM, Peugeot and Renault cars of the same period.
