  • Please do a video about deccabons (or however u spell them...). They seem like a nice addition to my kit but I'm not sure...

  • great work, man!

  • @Ivuspp Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • These sound similar to octobans with more options for tones and they are much cheaper.

  • Good video, Joe. Viewers can also see roto-toms in the Van Halen video "Jump".

  • @ronnyinwaxhaw Oh Yea!!! That's right. Good Info. Thanks Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • Could these be used for jazz and pop?

  • @teasdalea1 Yea pretty much any kind of music you can think of will work with the ROTO TOMS. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • @JOEDRUMS2112 Thanks so much for your reply. I use a small jazz kit and use it for jazz, pop, rock and loads of other stuff. The drum sizes are 18" kick drum, 12" rack tom, 14" floor tom and a 14" snare. Do you think I will need a specific size of rototoms for my small kit?

  • @teasdalea1 Well the Roto Toms only come in 6", 8", 10" sizes. Back in the 70's and 80's you could get them from 6" - 20". Remo dropped all the other sizes and went with the most popular sizes 6,8,10. Hope that helps.

  • @JOEDRUMS2112 i saw 2 kit you like danny carry from tool uses those for his toms so does mike mangini you like his video it is called mike mangini extreme drum solo

  • Great vid, well explained and thanks for posting!

  • @DJPestilence Sweet, congrats on the Rototoms.

    JOEDRUMS2112

  • they sounds great played with bare hands, I think these would be best for additional percussion in world music style! because in my opinion they've got pretty shitty sound for rock!

  • These are also great for having options. I am joining a progressive metal band, and I'm trying to get a decent kit with options ( some cymbals and toms )

  • @SillyHatVideos Sweet Dude. Good Luck and ROCK ON!!!

    JOEDRUMS2112

  • @N33D2DRUM Cool!!!

  • What would be better Roto Tom's or Octobans

  • @marcdaskater Roto toms are a lot cheaper to buy than octobans. Roto toms are about $150 - $250 depending on where you get them. If you get octobans they cost $500 - $2500 for 2 or more of them. So the choice is obvious. Hope that helps. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • Does anyone have advice on how to mount roto toms without a stand? My drums are in a small room and I can't seem to fit another stand anywhere.

  • @SpriteBat Well I checked online and their just isn't a lot of stuff out there for ROTO TOMS. It's gonna be hard to mount them without the stand. I am sorry I couldn't help you. You may try contacting REMO, they may know something. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • @SpriteBat

You can mount them to a Cymbal stand using a Pearl AXL-25 "rotating" clamp - one end on the Track by the 8", and the other end attached to the Cymbal stand. That was how I mounted mine up over my high-hat.

  • those are pretty cool and nice vid

  • you can get them cheaper. I just got ones for $85.

  • @TheMusicman448 Sweet, great buy. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • can I play DK Conga with them?

  • Heyy can u do a review of Tama Mini Steel Timbales size 6 and 8?

  • @KISSArmyAliveIII I don't have any of the Tama Timbales. So I really couldn't do a video with them. I have checked them out before at Guitar Center, I think they are pretty cool. John Dolmayan from System Of A Down has them, so they must be awesome. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • hi im just now getting into drums (im a guitarist of 5 years as well) and i need some suggestions for a good drum set that isn't gonna break the bank

  • @JakeTheHippy Yea a really nice kit to get is the Gretsch Catalina Maples. They are a good set for about $799 for a 6 piece kit. If that's too much still, try getting a PEARL export series for about half the price. Hope that helps. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • thats cool

  • haha roto means broken in spanish

  • @polenton Wow!!! that something. I never knew that. In a way they are like a broken tom, the shells are missing, which would kind of indicate broken toms. Wouldn't you agree? Hahaha. Thanks for that. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS

  • nice demo. they stood the test of time

  • @PhuckHue2 Yea roto toms last forever. Like Luggage. Hahaha. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS

  • WHERE CAN I BUY THESE?!?!?! i can't find them in Guitar Center...

  • @WiiWheelWarper Try online at Musicians Friend dot com They have them there. Keep Rockin' Dude. JOEDRUMS

  • @WiiWheelWarper musicians friend.

  • youre a damn cool dude man

  • @teacherhollyful I'll have to get one, one day. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin'

    JOEDRUMS

  • do the zil bel

  • What Roto Toms would you suggest for me, because I can't afford the remo toms, but my price range goes up to about £130?

  • how do these compare to the ones on amazon for $100? they look like the same thing but they are not remo

  • @Kmann2202 I would only get the name brand ones REMO, because the quality is better. The ones for a $100 probably are made really cheap and the heads that are on them look cheap as well. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS

  • Hey, guys. I'm refurbishing my kit, including my Remo Roto-Toms. 2 things:

    1. If you stick to a brand name like Remo, you can't go wrong & will never regret paying a bit more for the quality. My set are 20 yrs old &, with new heads & some elbow grease, will be good as new.

    2. I found a 6" clear Evans head (as well as the matching 8" & 10"). Any music store that handles Evans can get them for you.

Now to go practice the Roto Tom intro in Pink Floyd's "Time Machine"... :-)

  • I've never been able to find any Roto tom bigger than 10". Where would I find larger ones?

  • @Bang0r

Ebay has auctions of larger roto toms all the time, most ofthem are used and vintage though.

  • have you found any 6 inch replacement heads? Because I've looked all over the internet for them and havent found any

  • @narobertson1 Have you tried Musicians Friend, they are sure to have it. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112

  • @JOEDRUMS2112 I found some, thank you

  • @narobertson1 Try Ebay, they are loaded with drum head replacements. I bought mine off Ebay.

  • ive got the same shirt :) classic

  • Thanks man I just ordered those same ones just the other day and I can't wait till they arrive!

  • Great video, very useful! I'm going to get them!!! =)

  • tanks 4 da vid

  • Can I find only a 6 inch roto tom??

  • @Mnog1997 You may find one on Ebay, but they usually come together with the 8" and the 10" with the stand. Good Luck I hope you find one. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS

  • I think i might get these now, thanks for the awesome video

  • is there roto tom drum heads? do you even change the heads? or can you use any drum head?

  • @Ivanus Any drum heads will do. I've had REMO Black Dots, Pinstripes,

Fiberskyn 2's, Coated, Clears. I keep all the heads the same tension, and then I just turn the drums to find the pitch that sounds good. Hope that helps Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS

  • @JOEDRUMS2112 Thanks Bro!

  • Joe..Thanks for putting this vid together. I don't have any roto toms but where my band practices there is a rack with two toms and I used them to get a closer sound to beginning of Eminence Front. I really like the fact that it is so easy to change the sound. I will more than likely pick up a rack probably to 3 like you had in the vid. Very interesting that Louie Bellson used them. take care...

  • Hey Joe,

Nice video, I may buy some of these now :)

Think you could do a video on the Heel/Toe technique?

Thanks for the good work, I do learn with your videos and I'm enjoying them a lot!

  • Is that roto toms that I hear at the beginning of Time (by Pink Floyd) ?

  • @OrgasmicPotatoe It very well could be, if it's not it's probably some small pitched concert toms. Thanks for watching. JOEDRUMS

  • @OrgasmicPotatoe I do know. Those are rototoms in the song. Not trying to sound like a smart alleck but those are rototoms you are hearing in that song.

  • nice video man! hey could you do another video about add-ons like timbales or octobans

  • @maffau415 When I get a chance I will post some percussion stuff. Thanks for watching. JOEDRUMS

  • Hey Joe (Haha, Hendrix reference on accident), could you possibly make a video of you doing an original drum solo on your DW Kit with mics? Doesn't have to be too long. Please?

  • @TheDirectorofFoo I will put one up soon, thanks for watching. Keep Rockin'

    JOEDRUMS

  • i really have to get a set of these . whats heads would be the best ?

  • @colinhammond2k7 Well REMO black dots are usually what come with it, but if you want something else Pinstripes are good too. I've tried coated before and I didn't like them, they were too dry sounding. Hope that helps. JOEDRUMS

  • I love my rotos as ugly as they are!

  • Very nice. Ty!
