@JOEDRUMS2112 Thanks so much for your reply. I use a small jazz kit and use it for jazz, pop, rock and loads of other stuff. The drum sizes are 18" kick drum, 12" rack tom, 14" floor tom and a 14" snare. Do you think I will need a specific size of rototoms for my small kit?
@teasdalea1 Well the Roto Toms only come in 6", 8", 10" sizes. Back in the 70's and 80's you could get them from 6" - 20". Remo dropped all the other sizes and went with the most popular sizes 6,8,10. Hope that helps.
@JOEDRUMS2112 i saw 2 kit you like danny carry from tool uses those for his toms so does mike mangini you like his video it is called mike mangini extreme drum solo
they sounds great played with bare hands, I think these would be best for additional percussion in world music style! because in my opinion they've got pretty shitty sound for rock!
These are also great for having options. I am joining a progressive metal band, and I'm trying to get a decent kit with options ( some cymbals and toms )
@marcdaskater Roto toms are a lot cheaper to buy than octobans. Roto toms are about $150 - $250 depending on where you get them. If you get octobans they cost $500 - $2500 for 2 or more of them. So the choice is obvious. Hope that helps. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112
@SpriteBat Well I checked online and their just isn't a lot of stuff out there for ROTO TOMS. It's gonna be hard to mount them without the stand. I am sorry I couldn't help you. You may try contacting REMO, they may know something. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112
You can mount them to a Cymbal stand using a Pearl AXL-25 "rotating" clamp - one end on the Track by the 8", and the other end attached to the Cymbal stand. That was how I mounted mine up over my high-hat.
@KISSArmyAliveIII I don't have any of the Tama Timbales. So I really couldn't do a video with them. I have checked them out before at Guitar Center, I think they are pretty cool. John Dolmayan from System Of A Down has them, so they must be awesome. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112
@JakeTheHippy Yea a really nice kit to get is the Gretsch Catalina Maples. They are a good set for about $799 for a 6 piece kit. If that's too much still, try getting a PEARL export series for about half the price. Hope that helps. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS2112
@polenton Wow!!! that something. I never knew that. In a way they are like a broken tom, the shells are missing, which would kind of indicate broken toms. Wouldn't you agree? Hahaha. Thanks for that. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS
@Kmann2202 I would only get the name brand ones REMO, because the quality is better. The ones for a $100 probably are made really cheap and the heads that are on them look cheap as well. Thanks for watching. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS
Hey, guys. I'm refurbishing my kit, including my Remo Roto-Toms. 2 things:
1. If you stick to a brand name like Remo, you can't go wrong & will never regret paying a bit more for the quality. My set are 20 yrs old &, with new heads & some elbow grease, will be good as new.
2. I found a 6" clear Evans head (as well as the matching 8" & 10"). Any music store that handles Evans can get them for you.
Now to go practice the Roto Tom intro in Pink Floyd's "Time Machine"... :-)
@Mnog1997 You may find one on Ebay, but they usually come together with the 8" and the 10" with the stand. Good Luck I hope you find one. Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS
@Ivanus Any drum heads will do. I've had REMO Black Dots, Pinstripes,
Fiberskyn 2's, Coated, Clears. I keep all the heads the same tension, and then I just turn the drums to find the pitch that sounds good. Hope that helps Keep Rockin' JOEDRUMS
Joe..Thanks for putting this vid together. I don't have any roto toms but where my band practices there is a rack with two toms and I used them to get a closer sound to beginning of Eminence Front. I really like the fact that it is so easy to change the sound. I will more than likely pick up a rack probably to 3 like you had in the vid. Very interesting that Louie Bellson used them. take care...
@OrgasmicPotatoe I do know. Those are rototoms in the song. Not trying to sound like a smart alleck but those are rototoms you are hearing in that song.
Hey Joe (Haha, Hendrix reference on accident), could you possibly make a video of you doing an original drum solo on your DW Kit with mics? Doesn't have to be too long. Please?
@colinhammond2k7 Well REMO black dots are usually what come with it, but if you want something else Pinstripes are good too. I've tried coated before and I didn't like them, they were too dry sounding. Hope that helps. JOEDRUMS
Please do a video about deccabons (or however u spell them...). They seem like a nice addition to my kit but I'm not sure...
