Unmarked police cars are NOT illegal in Texas. Many departments have them with no markings to indicate they are police vehicles. The only requirement is that it must have red and blue lights with a siren and the officer making the stop must be in full uniform with his agency name on his uniform. It has never been illegal in Texas for an unmarked police car to make a traffic stop in Texas. Some agencies just choose not to use them.

I would love to, but bikes don't work 9 months of the year in Oregon, I'm afraid. If I lived in a place with warm weather year-round, I'd seriously consider it. A 1979 Husqvarna 390 motocross bike with plates and lights would work pretty well, especially on rougher roads. ;-)

By the way, a bike isn't necessarily cheaper, you can get a C4 Corvette for something like $8000 or less. Not the fastest, but it's still a strong, loud V8 with surprising MPG.

Where I'm from the police have 2 Chargers, one for the sheriffs, one for the police. They come with a 340HP 390LB-FT 5.7L hemi 5 speed with auto shifter on the gear selector, which is useless... This car is kinda useless. Get a well tuned vehicle with good suspension and a little kick (lets say a mustang or a camero) in front of a police charger and it'll stay that way. The car is mostly intimidation factor. The V6 impalas are only 20mph slower than the charger. We pay for the gas! cheers

In correct, it is under cover as it has no POLICE marking on the car and normal Wisconsin plates (Blued out). If it was marked then it would have POLICE or SHERIFF on it with municipality identification and Wisconsin official plates. Just because you can see the inside lights, does not mean it is marked police vehicle. They probably did not want tint as it cuts down on the light output. The average person will not recognize it as a police vehicle, regardless that you can see the lights.
