The District of Columbia, nor any State, has the right to ban handguns. Federal law overrides State law. The Second Amendment clearly states that the People have the right to keep and bear arms and that said right shall not be infringed upon. Making any firearm illegal is an infringement. Technically, automatic weapons should not be regulated either. However, I can understand the reason why they are regulated. Public safety. But there's a line you can't cross. I draw it at automatics.
I take that back. Automatics should not even be registered, let alone regulated. That violates the Fourth Amendment. Making someone register a means of self defense is just a warrantless, and unreasonable type of search and seizure. If people WANT to register their guns in case they get stolen or something, let them. If they don't want to, don't force them.

The District of Columbia, nor any State, has the right to ban handguns. Federal law overrides State law. The Second Amendment clearly states that the People have the right to keep and bear arms and that said right shall not be infringed upon. Making any firearm illegal is an infringement. Technically, automatic weapons should not be regulated either. However, I can understand the reason why they are regulated. Public safety. But there's a line you can't cross. I draw it at automatics.

There are stable democratic governments across Europe, the Americas, and Asia with strict gun laws. If we took the 2nd Amendment literally, you wouldn't have to get a license to buy a gun.

If a person really wanted to kill another person, and they didn't have a gun, they would just use a motherfuckin' knife. In fact, if you intend on killing your victim in close quarters, I would recommend a knife. A bullet wound may leave your target alive for a while, but a slit throat will end them quickly. Knives also don't have gay serial numbers. Additionally, for those who like to watch people slowly suffer, knives are much better for torturing your victim.

yea i guess for recreational purposes but in England, some european countries, and canada have a ban on most weapons and their crime rate is very low along with fatality from guns. Im a "little bit" more leanient towards banning handguns. I guess in some cases it is good for self defense but it's kinda rare that a person being mugged on the street would pull a gun on the mugger in self defense. idk please don't get pissed at me ;P

I think that it's the parent's responsibility to teach gun safety to their children, and that it's the responsibility of other people to educate themselves on gun safety. Common sense also plays a huge role (don't point a gun at someone and don't pull the trigger unless you want to shoot). It's not the government's place to be doing that for people.

@newtondevin but he's the worst at it. Most politicians have a stance on an issues but they phrase their answers ambiguously and carefully. Most of them are so bad that it's hard to figure out what they believe, but it's usually possible. Obama doesn't seem to believe in anything, at least not anything that he's willing to let us know about.
Only politician i've seen that directly and fully answers all questions is Alan Keyes. I don't agree with him on everything but it still impressed me
