  • it`s a valve used to control the way aer enters in the intake manifold at different rpm`s.it is made out of plastic so it will start to make the noise that comes and goes when certain throttle is applied:)all the best!

  • @chucksterrr Trust me, I'm one of most knowledgeable people with E46's on the web. My DISA was replaced when I bought my car three years ago, it's not that but thanks for the help

  • @XionUnjust - Most common thing on E46ers. My ZHP had this. The VANOS seals went to crap. You could go two ways at it. Get the seals only from Beisan or DrVanos with a whole new VANOS.

  • @XionUnjust No one questioned your knowledge on the e46,except yourself...maybe i misunderstood the purpose of the video.hope you find the fix.

  • @XionUnjust valvetronic !!! you can switch for a new one, than the sound will gone, but maybe 20.000 or 50.000 miles later the sound can be come back.

  • have you checked DISA valve?located on the intake manifold:P

  • hey guys, i have a bmw e36 m3 american not europian. and i am having a bit of noize, it looks like is coming from my Vanos but i had it tested and i got intake camshaft code anyone knows if the camshaft sensor cam make noize like vanos? plz help.

    sorry for broken english.

  • gewoon watjes in je oren doen, dan hoor je het niet

  • Add quart of oil

  • Nice engines let down by unreliable sensors-buy a Toyota instead.

  • @chickitakoowan Rattling engines never hurt anyone, stuck acelerators have.

  • @tomigun01NZ not all toyota's are prone to this problem.

  • i i worth it to get vanos for ur bmw??? i heard ven though ur car i fine u should replace them fter 20k and mine has 65k

    thanks.

  • @username2153 No, every VANOS has or will have failing OEM seals. Just buy the kit from beisan systems and it will be perfect forever.

  • @XionUnjust ohh ok thanks sorry for the horrible spelling lol so bout after how many miles you think a bmw would need the seals replaced and is it obvious when the blow?

  • @username2153 No problem dude. I've read that they even go by 20-30k. The seals by beisan systems is high grade military materials and it will never fail. A TON of the guys say that the torque increases, power is restored, better idle, etc. I'd do it if you can follow the procedures on their site. if you need more help check out the e46 section of bimmerfest (dot) c0m

  • @XionUnjust yeah same here i heard from bimmer forums that you should replace them at 20k no matter what and supppost to make the hp better even if it seems to be ok but i dont know almost everyone on that website did it to thiers so why not do it to mine hahh.

  • @username2153 The beisen ones are one time :)

  • @XionUnjust lol yeah thats tight because i really wouldnt want to have to relace them more than once lmao so did it turn out to be the vanos on your bimmer?

  • @username2153 The sound actually went away on my car. I Changed oil and it was fine.

  • @username2153 Definately worth it bought the kit B001 (teflon seals for pistons) and B002 (inner ring seals)

$120 and about 4 hours of your DIY time also good to do the valve cover gastkets while your in there. There is an initial 200 miles of city driving to fully break the seals but my car doesn't have that rattle anymore nor the idle jolts im at 90 miles from the initial break in period and already noticing more pep in my 2000 323i

  • I will be doing this repair soon. New seals ordered.

  • Common problem. There is not always a vanos problem. Air can be trapped in vanos. About 10 min at 3000 rpm and the air should be gone. Common problem when oil is changed. Thats why the rattle stoped when you rewed a few times.

  • man see web beisansystems com solution is there this Pure VANOS PROBLEM

  • @yelzhan123 Man, Beisan is out to make money, offcourse they'll say its VANOS. If your light bulb on the E46 was out... guess what VANOS..duh..obviously. It's not always the case. I changed the oil on mine and it went away, EXACTLY the same sound. Now HAVEN'T had it ONCE since oil change, 2000 km on since that change now. Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5w 50. You drive a SONATA from the looks of it, stop speculating.

  • ya, sounds like vanos to me

  • have you fitted a vanos kit? if yes, could you make a before and after video? :)

  • hey, the rattle is actually not there anymore. A few times i revved it and nothing.

the beisan seals and their rattle product do work though as many have done it on various bmw forums.

  • @XionUnjust we fit them many in Poland as well. They work well.

  • @misiek0104

Yea I know, a lot of my forum friends did the seals. Czesc from NYC :)

  • Good vids!

  • Thanks!
