Have you ever thought about running that station off Solar panels?. you have the battery for it. Ive been running my HF All Mode station off solar panels for over a year. its been great, no problems...
Nice Setup Do you know the model number of the Gator case because i need one for my rig and so i can bring all the gear with me on field day thanks :)
I am just getting into amateur radio and I am going to get my general license this summer. I plan on joining ARES as soon as i can and when i have enough knowledge. You have an awesome set up by the way.
Great set up I would get a USB to PS2 adaptor for laptop so you can use the same old keyboard and mouse you use at home if you haven't already swapped your devices to USB. I go to thrift stores and find perfectly good keyboard and lazer mouse for $1-$5 even the microsoft ergonomic boards that cost $40 retail once you get use to them you will see your typing speed greatly increase. Make small hole in that case to slide a velcrow strap to secure your laptop up there so you can have keyboard in lap
@cdltpx 2 not having to bend over to type on the tiny keyboards that can come with some laptops. I would install a power strip to the setup granted you are batt powered but some emergency setups turn into longer stays that have generator power you will want the additional safety net a power strip will afford generators can have issues with spikes that could be eliminated with a strip. You will be able to hit one switch to power down all. Put all the things you have around your computer @home.
@cdltpx 3 Nail clippers tobasco tweasers mirror superglue camera ANY office supplies you could need. Universal remote with book never fails to have one of them on hand you can have your own remote when there is tv time sometimes you have to stay for a streatch at a location they send tele and the works but that remote seems to get left behind every time. Would not hurt to install a cup holder JIC you like a tall glass of tea. Head lamp never fails you need additional lighting.
@K4IFX Help me out folks that use an ergonomic key board? I took some typing lessons called mavis beacon never really made any real progress until I got the ergo keyboard and commented like crazy to anything I saw on you tube now I dont even have to look at the keyboard. True I cheat by not keeping my fingers where they should be at all times but that comes from years of use of a laptop. I do find that when I keep my fingers on the proper spots I have less errors but I just do better my way.
@cdltpx I promise you if you are wide shouldered musclular you will benefit using the split keyboard @ 250 I looked slim sure now I am in need of some serious working out. I use hot keys to get to my home page ALT HOME if I need to magnify something I perssCTRL and scroll with the mouse wheel there are more but those are the 2 I use the most those keyboards with all the fancy buttons are not needed I do have a number pad for fast calculations but other than that basic split keyboard makes better
@cdltpx People buy new computer and if there is not a place to plug in old ps2keyboard they get rid of it so check the thrift stores you will thank me anywhere under $5 buy one or more I have peplacements JIC. Start using it gradually you will see the improvement. My wrist dont hurt when I type with it when I used a standard key wrist would be in pain practicing the typing program. I went to computer store got a USB-PS2 adaptor for $5 now I get near free optical mouse and quality keyboards.
Sweet little setup!! That Gator case is perfect.....everything seems to fit in there real well. Looks efficient!I want one!! My birthday is in June if your looking for ideas! LOL
